You can't even go fishing in, or even walk too close to fresh water without the threat of being munched by a crocodile. Then if you go to the seashore, there's sharks on one side, and red algae slime on the other. Then to make matters worse, knucklebeans released their pet snakes into the wild that have grown to immense size, and now are an infestation, and the snakes are eating crocodiles, but not the big ones that threaten humans. And that's not even mentioning some of the deluded people . . . .

@@THEREALVITO Sure, but a person visiting Florida, like me for example who goes around different sites there for work on occasion, experiences visually the same level of homelessness I see in California. I see tent villages under-freeways, beggars outside of 7-11s, and random people knocked out infront of office buildings. But, then I see something similar in DC and Baltimore, and at a much smaller group Northern Virginia where I'm based out of but it's growing. The only thing I don't see in Florida are refuge camps in border areas, which are unique to the south western states. It's a problem around the country, and I get the politics and use of hyperbolics in competition, but it's a disingenuous argument over "my state is better than yours" especially when you have no plan to even address it at home. Hi, I've been a Californian my entire life and have been homeless a couple of times including 10 months in downtown LA....there is no evidence to back this claim up, tho it's a common myth. I lived in the biggest homeless population in the COUNTRY. people are NOT coming here to be homeless bc of the weather, at least not in any significant amount. The vast majority of homeless people here are FROM HERE, often within walking distance of where they lived before they were priced out. This myth is extremely harmful bc it contributes to the way the public sees homeless as outsiders just coming here to use up working Californians taxes. Then people use this lie to justify oppressing homeless people further.
@mischr13 Жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity....Do people ever stop and wonder about the logistics of this? Homeless people in colder states are gonna leave what little support system/family they have, then move across country (with what money?), to the first or second most expensive state in the country (even if you're not paying rent, EVERYTHING is expensive...so again, with WHAT money?), just so you can go be corralled in a ghetto and get hunted by cops, serial killers, and rapists, just cuz it's warmer?? A lot of good it does us cuz people die in California after cold nights ALL. THE. TIME. I saw it with my own eyes. Sure, it doesn't usually freeze here, but it doesn't need to freeze to kill sick and elderly. I'm surprised you're saying "no one ever brings up the climate", cuz I have to fight against this myth EVERY time people talk about how many homeless are in California. Even Californians say it, which is ridiculous cuz we can literally go outside and ask our homeless neighbors. But no, cuz "ew gross, the poors"

I mean is anyone going to bring up the whole fact that Florida has exploding inflation that is higher than almost anywhere else in the country. It's just wild that no one brings that up when people talk about how great Florida is. Or the fact that health insurance there is so over priced and predatory.

Why do conservatives act like California is the only place in the country with homeless people in it? I live in the midwest and there are a ton of homeless people here too! Difference is people actually want to live on the west coast, no one lives in the Midwest or south by choice! We just get stuck here until we can move some place better.

I’ve lived in Florida my whole life I’m 44 and have lived in Tampa Sarasota Jacksonville and Tallahassee over the years and things were cheap affordable housing no non sense everything started changing when Rick Scott came in things started changing insurance rates started getting ridiculous and then Ron Desatan comes in and all hell comes down. Went from paying $1350 a month rent to $2200 for a 1500 sq ft house and every whack job wants to move here from Chicago and New York raising prices even more for folks who have lived here our whole lives. Not a livable state with all the crime and affordable issues. Thinking about moving to Austin for the same price for homes there might as well live somewhere with actual culture and good food lol.
