I live in Finland which is a Nordic welfare state so obviously my values are more aligned with the Democratic party, but I can still respect Republican politicians like John McCain or Susan Collins. I can also respect different views about foreign policy, economics or the balance between federal and local legislation, but the two major parties are overtaken by nut jobs and neither are willing to compromise, so nothing meaningful gets done.
