Yeah, well I'm from America and I think Putin is making it about Russia. What I find interesting is the whole world finds slight disdain for the West until they get invaded. Including your own country. Then it's please America help us. All of Europe needs America in a time of crisis. History shows it over and over. It's about to repeat itself. Honestly. What I've learned is that every topical event in the news - whether it's the Super Bowl, a new popular movie, a trending viral video, c19, Ukraine, cryptocurrency - somehow *always* manages to have something to do with social politics. There's always some kinda thought piece about how "THE REAL PROBLEM WITH ________ IS..." and conveniently...it's _always_ the same cause the activist has. What a coincidence. People always find a way to make this about them. *Update* 03/29/22: You can now add the Will Smith Chris Rock debacle to the list which is now about race, toxic masculinity, the patriarchy, gender, class or anything else activists need it to be about for their wordpress. Howard _fucking_ Stern equated Will Smith to Donald Trump. Talk about living rent free. Once they said _Avengers: Endgame_ was discriminating against people who need bathroom breaks because of its runtime, I said "Okay then. So, now missing parts of a _fantasy children's movie_ is oppression?"

This really goes along with Frank Bruni's comment in another segment on how people immediately jump into a caricature of themselves when they communicate. It also shows what I've been saying about people for years. Something I've deduced while teaching for the past 30 years. People develop themselves into their own brand, their identity, their "thing" and engage with the world within this very closed-minded perspective. Add commerce to this, by way of taking this image/identity/brand and producing content on social media for an audience, and ultimately for money, and you've got the makings of a really unhealthy society.

What do you teach? Yes, American society is very unhealthy. It's sad. But it won't change any time soon. That's just who we've become. Reminds me of the book, "Twilight of American Culture", written by Morris Berman. I think the book was first published in the late 1990's or maybe early 2000's, but its content is still extremely relevant. It's actually quite depressing how every special interest group in American society puts its own spin on world events that ultimately really have nothing to do with them. American Narcissism at work again. It's all about me. It's all about us. Sad, just sad.

Bill's New Rules is still funnier than 99% of late-show programs, and that includes the once great Stephen Colbert, who imploded during the pandemic. Although one could say that a good part of why Colbert has grown less funny as of late IMO owes to Trump having left the center of attention.

I sincerely appreciate your doing that Mr. Foster. Bill may not be everyone's flavour of politicking, but his kind of satire is what keeps the powers in check and inspires an American dialogue rather than this preaching to the choir echo chamber bullshit; we're all on the same team. May you secure for yourself and your loved ones peace, prosperity, and the pursuit of happiness.

@@anthonyjones7848 I wouldn't go that far... He shifts so fast from L to R and vice-versa that he's all over the map: that pretty much covers Bill's position..

If you've seen the movie "Don't Look Up" or "Idiocracy", that's the mentality of most Americans today, especially members of Congress.

Americans are not the brightest. Congress is pretty accurate at reflecting those in the USA. If you want a better Congress than be a better people. I doubt that will happen.

Putin didn’t invade Ukraine when Trump was in office in my opinion for two main reasons. 1. The US exit of the Paris Acorde / climate change denial. 2. Trump intended to get off NATO or at a bare minimum cause disagreements among the NATO countries.
