If you would like a girls point of view, within the past few years I have had 1 successful experience. Everyone else tried to either have sex with me on the first date or tried to have phone sex with me before they even had to buy me dinner. So I do think he is in to something here. I am 44 and the most successful dating experiences I have had have actually come from those pics on Facebook , you k ow the ones that say you might know this person or this person has 5 mutual friends. Usually they only put up single profiles of the opposite sex.

Yup. Literally just approaching some women and trying to say absolutely anything is often seen as creepy and offensive. They positively radiate a "who is this person and why are they talking to me" vibe. As far as they're concerned, we should just automatically assume that they're not interested because if they were looking for any sort of relationship they'd open up a dating app. Their default state is "don't talk to me", and they don't really have any reason to ever change that anymore.

At the park - "I'm here to just be alone with my dog." At the gym - "I'm here with my camera for myself." At work - "I'm working and calling HR." At school - "I'm learning." It's not just that he's getting it wrong here, it's that he doesn't even seem to understand how any of this works. The double whammy of being criticized by women for bothering them/being entitled if you initiate a conversation with the wrong one, coupled with the other half of women being upset that you weren't more proactive and chasing them harder. Plus, dating apps are horrible for men because it's only the top 10% or 20% most popular who are having the experience he references, because women are so much more picky that they share the men they want with every other girl who wants the "best" too, and ya those guys get to have a lot of fun but pretty much no one else does. Might be helpful to talk with someone who actually is, ya know, of dating age before doing a segment on something you are totally unfamiliar with.

Women don't go off on men for attempting to chat them up in socially appropriate settings. They go off on men for hitting on them when they are at work, or for not walking away when she doesn't signal back that she's open to flirting. Yes, there are rules. There is a pageantry to it and if you step out of line you get yelled at. Make some female friends (and don't try to fuck them) and earn their trust enough to learn the moves. Okay, first I will agree that there are a lot of men out there that really honestly don't know how to talk to a woman. I think too many of them watch too much pornography, and somehow think or wish that dating would be as easy as opening up your pants and she's down on her knees. However, based on my past dating experience when I was single, and seeing what's going on with the youth now, the bigger problem still exists that a lot of women seem to now equate someone they are not attracted to as a creep, stalker, or potential rapist. I also feel there's a huge hypocrisy in that they hate when guys ghost them, but they quickly ghost guys and claim it's because they are afraid of conflict. They speak to death about feminism and wanting a partner, but then throw up there how they want this partner to make six figures and basically give them a luxury life. I can also imagine many of those girls going to Home Depot are going to later complain how their boyfriend or even husband is too old fashioned and a bit of a chauvinist. We see plenty of social media postings of men purposely not looking at or talking to women because they are afraid of being labeled as a creepy stalker. So yes, I think a lot of men need to learn how to communicate better with women, but I also think women need to stop thinking every man is a potential stalker or rapist and grow a thicker skin. I'm not saying this is always going to be the solution to everything, but everyone's guard has gone up so much now that nobody is talking to each other anymore.

It's not that women think anyone that is not attracted to them are creeps. We were raised to believe that we are responsible for the sexual misconduct of all men, whether we know them or not. And we were raised to believe that all men are potentially sexually aggressive. Now that we have social media, women are telling you A) how we were conditioned to think about men and B) how often men don't, in fact, treat women respectfully. This is old stuff. What's new is social media. Women are using it.

Every girl I've dated has had colored hair, a septum piercing or both. I'm not a particularly attractive guy, but I walked up to them and asked them out. Some said yes, some said no. The ones who refused didn't accuse me of rape. Despite what's on Twitter, that doesn't happen much in real life. I understand the fear, but letting it rule you is driving this awfulness even further. Approach the girl you're checking out, be polite, if she rejects you take it in stride. You've got nothing to worry about.

I found out from a friend of mine (who's now my current gf) that my ex told her that I kidnapped her on the highway outside of town (even though we were never outside of town the whole time that we were together🤦). My gf told her, and bless her heart for saying this, "Shut the fuck up! Every time I've approached women in real life they act confused. Like I'm doing something I'm not supposed to be doing. Internet dating is a nightmare in it's own way, but I've had at least some positive experiences. The key is to move the online convo to the real world ASAP.
@Ardante11

I agree. I often post on my online dating profile that I usually do lunch at a certain locations on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and if a girl wants to be incognito and see me in real life they can see me in physical form without any pressure and if they want, they can then message me on the app afterwards saying they saw me. HOWEVER he did forget to mention that most women make it extremely difficult to talk to them in real life. Men have been accused of being predatory at the gym, gas station or at their jobs. On occasions insulting them by “mansplaining” something when in reality most guys were just trying to strike up a conversation.

@@BigBadJerryRogersI think they are just trying to get a workout in and don’t want to be bothered. I guess the real trouble is there aren’t many places to meet anyone naturally anymore. People assume dating has to be online so they aren’t really looking for people irl and when we can interact it’s when we’re busy at work, or the store, or the gym. The other options are bars and clubs and the assumption there is you just want to party and get laid. I think the best chance for meeting someone irl is through school (college) or community programs and festivals.

I've been loving Bill these last few years and usually agree with him. But he's so blue-pill brainwashed - all he would need to do is have his staff research some published dating app stats and instagram DM stats and he'll realize he got this one 100% backwards. Dating apps and social media have RADICALLY inflated women's self-perception of their dating market value b/c they can't/won't differentiate sexual interest from genuine relationship interest. Re-do this one Bill & do your research this time - you'll find its women's approach to dating that has radically changed due to the tech. Keep up the great work tho. 3rd wave feminism (which you rip on too) is also a factor

@@acomedybyec1437 a) He's talking to women, not men (something 99% of men commenters seem to have missed - even though he explicitly says so), b) in that light, "tinder works for men" DOES mean the 10-20% who women do connect with through the app. Maher is simply not addressing people outside that Venn diagram. c) You are saying "dating apps are an advantage for women" but it would be more accurate to say "in the dating app game, women have the advantage." And yes, that is definitely true. In fact it might be part of the business model. d) Apps like Tinder work for (some) men and (some) women looking for that level of communication and intimacy, i.e., almost none. That's what it's designed for. If they want more, then interacting with men primarily through dating apps is a wrong turn. And so, e) IF women want communication and intimacy (and he adduces evidence), then they have a better chance of meeting men bringing their A-Game if they interact in person. That's his argument.
