If this can remove a race from a bearing, it can remove anything else. This a time saver, if you have an impact wrench you'll get rid of any fatigue that you used to encounter before lol. Thanks for the video, bro! :D

You should do a tool box tour. Really love that bearing puller. Could have used one of those when removing my bearing on my focus

I have a smaller set of these from Cornwell. They do save a lot of time on pressed in wheel bearings. Mine are not as nice as the beta one in the video, but they were also only about 1/3 of the price.

That is a bad ass tool I like it I normally use a grinder the remove the sleeve that gets stuck on the hub which it takes longer. Great review

Felix Elizondo Thanks Felix! I used to have to use die grinders....it definitely takes some experience to do that without damaging the hub. Specialized tools seem to always save a ton of time :)

very good tool but you used wrongly when you pressed down on the press every time you must use the side of the spitter not on the bolts side because you will bent the bolts !

Due to the size of the hub, rotating the bearing splitter was not possible in this example. If I had used 2 i-beams, yes it would have worked the other way.....with the wood there is not enough room.

Yes. I agree Chris. He needs to rotate 90 degrees. (bolts parallel with blocks of wood)

Bridge the gap on the press with the body of the splitter and not the threads.

So to put the race back on you would use the press? Is there a special tool used to do that? Great video!
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 9 жыл бұрын
Love2boat92 Thanks! The race is actually part of the wheel bearing....so, it presses on as one unit (with the bearing) but when you go to remove the bearing...the race will stay locked on. I didnt think to mention that, thanks for pointing it out! So, to answer your question....no special tool is needed to install the race separately, it will be installed with the wheel bearing (typically using a shop press or special wheel bearing kit, depending on the vehicle).

How does compare price wise & quality wise to the OTC stinger version?
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 9 жыл бұрын
adabezzi The price is going to be a premium (comparable to truck brands) --- but this is made in Germany....not "made overseas from global materials". I have heard very mixed reviews about the quality of the OTC stinger kits.....I think it is hit or miss.

That's cool what's the cost?
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 9 жыл бұрын
Eric DuPlantier This particular setup is around $900.....the smaller ones cost a lot less. Or, you can just get the bearing splitter for a few hundred & use it with the shop press like I showed when removing the bearing. You could have done the same thing for the race, but I wanted to show how the puller worked along with it.

The part this man says about having to cut off the internal race is completely wrong you can pull it right off with an acetylene torch and a thick welders glove in about 4 seconds

So besides tools, are you also an automotive technician? Stupid Toyota with those bolts that don't clear the hub, or in the case of the Tundra stupid rear axle backing plate!
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 9 жыл бұрын
+Lynx Star Automotive (Gabe V) Yep, but more recently most of my time has been committed to working on reviews. I like the fact that I can actually show tools being used in real life settings & hopefully other people like that also! Also...as far as those wheel bearings go...nothing beats having the right tool for the job ;)

Or you can just buy a whole wheel bearing with hub for nearly nothing and save yourself about 1 hour per wheel. Time is money and no sane person would do it this way.

Not worth 900 bucks for carbon steel stamped with a special name... You will never make the investment back unless you are a cheap SOB who likes to rip off customers with low quality bearings.

Holy shit that's expensive. Funny thing you're reviewing this I'm going to do the rear bearings on my bmw soon.
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 9 жыл бұрын
GigaDonk There are definitely cheaper brands out there.....most of them have very questionable quality & literally break under pressure. This particular one costs a lot more than the 3 smaller versions, but that is because that wheel bearing was so big......also, you could have easily just gotten the splitter only (1534/4) & used the shop press to remove the inner race also. I just wanted to show how the puller part worked with the splitter.

Do you think grease or antiseize would help the race not stick to the hub so hard or doesn't matter?
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 9 жыл бұрын
GigaDonk Whenever I reinstall bearings, I completely clean up the mating surfaces (inner portion of the bearing & shaft of the hub) with brake cleaner & also a white roloc bristle disc (low grit, polishes it smooth). Then I coat everything with wheel bearing grease & you still have to press it on with the shop press. Alternatively, you can run a threaded rod through the hub & bearing....then put large impact sockets on both sides that match the diameter of the hub/bearing on either side & use wrenches/ratchets to tighten nuts on both sides until they are pressed together. Not quite as efficient, but it will work.
@LynxStarAuto
@LynxStarAuto 9 жыл бұрын
Naw it typically doesn't matter. Sealed bearings are all in one deals where the races, bearing, and seals are all put together as one unit. Breeze come installation time, but when you have to remove one, the seal will always "give way" and one race will stay on the hub no matter what, because the race has a press fit, and the seal is not strong enough to keep the whole assembly together. Still using anti seize, or any kind of lubrication will aid in removing the race, and that is always a plus.
