My sister and her husband are long time Mormons. Her husband died 5 weeks ago after battling cancer, he was 70. She is living and 70. I'm a bible believing Christian. I thought they believed in the Bible because they said they did and carry them around, etc. I'm understanding now that they follow a different gospel. Galatians 1:8, I'm praying and need to reach her. I have deep sorrow and anguish for her husband's soul and want to reach her, I believe her soul is in great danger.

@Anti Anti Mormon First of all, those are sects, not denominations. There are only 3 denominations Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestantism. Secondly that confusion is not from God but from Man, and our sin of divisiveness. All these denominations however, agree on what “Christianity “ is, about “ Christ”. Christ is part of the Triune deity, Christ is eternal, Christ created all things, Christ died on the cross and resurrected etc...

To make the statement within the first minute that Mormons don't believe in biblical Christianity is Just flat wrong. More accurate would be to say that Mormons don't believe in traditional creedal Christianity. To say that someone is not Christian when they believe in the life, divinity and mission of Jesus Christ is insulting and wrong. The reality is that only one denomination is truly Christian so the question should be whose doctrine is it. Is it the Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, JW, or any other individual evangelical faith. My money if it isn't the Mormon church is that it is either the Catholic, or the Greek orthodox churches since every protestant/evangelical church sprang from them. In other words if it isn't the Mormons then members of evangelical and protestant denominations are damned anyway for being apostates of the most likely true faith. Of course for me neither Catholic nor evangelical doctrine hold up to secular scrutiny since they both come from the same Platonic philosophy and lack sufficient support for the divinity of Christ, where as the LDS faith has that additional independent support. IMHO all Christians everywhere should be thrilled that there is potentially independent corroborating testimony of Christ in the Book of Mormon, as well as from living men who are called to be prophets for just that reason. I would posit that traditional people labeled as Christian really aren't because real biblical Christians had living prophets, and apostles and received continuing revelation from God which for most modern Christians are only words on a page now to be interpreted as anyone sees fit.

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. The best description I have heard of what the Mormon church believes about Jesus and God. If you talk to a Mormon about this they will just tell you that they believe in Christ. They just don't tell you that they believe that Christ used to be human like us, and evolved into a God. So they don't believe in the God or Jesus of the bible.

The scripture you refer to is found in Revelations 22. The scripture refers to "the prophecy in this book". The Book is the Book of Revelations. Which was one of many books compiled into the "bible" (biblios-collection of books). It's quite possible that the Gospel of John, and Acts, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, and 2nd Peter, the Epistles of John, and maybe Jude were written after the Book of Revelation. The Book of Revelation was placed at the end of the New Testament because it deals with the "End of Days", it may be the last chronological book, it may not. Either way the verse applies specifically to that book. Not to the "collection of books" that is the Bible. There is something special about the canonized bible however.

Depends on your definition of Christianity. People can define it so narrowly as to cut off any other group than their own. Very slipper ground for a supposed Christian to say "I'm Christian and you aren't because you have different beliefs than me". Let's be honest here. We can both know a classmate from school, but one of us think he's nice, and the other think he's rude, but HE'S THE SAME PERSON, or in our discussion here, the same God. I define a Christian as anyone having faith in the Jesus Christ..... - Who was born of the Virgin Mary at Nazareth - Was baptized of John - Healed the afflicted and performed other miracles - Testified of the Father - Established His Church and Gospel - Died on the Cross - Rose the third day - Is the only way back to the Father. .......be whatever religion/church they are. The Spirit has whispered to me time and time again that many of God's children will be "saved" from many different churches and even some that never knew God in mortality. Did they do the best for what they knew??? That will be the true judgement of God.

I noticed that during this scriptures were shown to support the points that were being made on the evangelical side, but when the speaker would bring in a mormon belief he didn't share the bible verses that mormons use to interpret their beliefs. Seems a little dishonest. IE 3 kingdoms in heaven (1 Corinthians 15:41-42) You know, where it tells us that in the resurection there are three glories, it calls them telestial, terrestial and celestial. Or perhaps the fact that baptisms by proxy or baprisms for the dead, which he railed against are mentioned in the New Testament. (1 Corinthians 15:29) Is the word trinity mentioned in the bible? Triune? Rapture? Limited atonement? John tells us that the world itself could not hold the books that would be written if all of Christs acts were written. Yet somehow Evangelicals are offended that there might be more knowlege, more guidance, but not at all offended when throughout the years principles are changed and added to. It is worth note that Mormons still consider you Christian, even if you believe in a Christ that condems infants to hell, or believe in a Christ that constantly prayed to himself and begat himself. Even if you criticize our belief in Christs own words that he is the very Son of God. We still aplaud you for the belief you have in Christ and what you do get right.

Jesus said, you shall know them by their fruits. That not only means the good works we do but also knowing sound doctrine. What a Christian really believes. Jesus yesterday, today and forever!!

They have a genuine interest in Christianity, because they are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and is no more historically inaccurate than the Bible. The Book of Mormon is wrong because it contradicts the Bible.The places in the Bible Bethlehem,Jerusalem Gaza,can be located on any modern map of Israel,unlike the places in the Bible such as Zarahemla which are fictitious, Smith claimed to translate the BOM from reformed Egyptian.This is impossible as no such language exists.It says in 1 Nephi there were horses,cows etc in North America in 600 BC This is impossible as these animals weren't introduced to North America until the15th century.Having a 5th grade education Smith wouldn't have known that.The Bible is the truth and stands for itself.It doesn't contradict itself. Andrew
@thesoundofthesuburbs7 жыл бұрын
The Book of Mormon civilizations were destroyed. Aspects of the Book of Mormon, just like the Bible, are lacking in historicity. The Exodus story appears nowhere in Egyptian records, but you still believe it, because you take it on faith. Domesticated camels appear in the Hebrew bible as well, when the general consensus is that camels were not domesticated until after the scripture claims they do. There are many things that we do not understand, but we accept them on faith, because we have a personal witness. The Bible contradicts itself all over the place. This is for a variety of reasons. The Bible has been translated many times over, and had to be pieced together from hundreds, if not thousands, of records. The Bible has hundreds, if not thousands, of authors. The Book of Mormon has a small number of authors. It has only been translated once into English, and then directly to other modern languages. I know that one can find truth in the Book of Mormon, and in other ancient texts. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's Church. I know this because I see and have experienced the light of the Gospel. I love my church. I love it. I live it.

The question is misleading. Instead, we should ask, "In the eyes of the LDS church, are non-Mormons Christians?" And the answer is NO. The whole, entire and sole basis on which the LDS church is founded is the assertion by Smith that THERE HAS BEEN NO CHRISTIAN CHURCH ON EARTH SINCE THE FIRST CENTURY ENDED. Mormonism is a not a re-formation of the Chruch but a re-storation, a second founding of a Church that had ceased to exist: complete apostasy, false doctrine, no priesthood authority. And therefore all churches in existence between c. AD 100 and AD 1830 are nil, null, empty husks. Not Christian. Proof? Mormons consider all baptisms but theirs to be invalid because those who baptized lacked authority. So, the current LDS PR campaign to be considered part of the "Christian" family is nothing but bad faith.

In order to be Christian, one must believe that the collection of books and letters compiled known as the New Testament hundreds of years after they were written is the final word of God. In order to be Christian, one must believe that a loving, all powerful God spoke revealed himself to man since the beginning of the world, but stopped about 100 AD, and is either incable or unwilling to reveal himself further?

Kayla Godkin Oh my gosh!! This is so true. I am standing up for the Mormons though... I use to bee in the Christian church and it really just ticks me off how the christian church hates the Mormon church. They do not have it right at all. I am so with the Mormons. Even Christians love to gossip and tell stories in church and I can tell you beeings that i was raised in that I could tell a lot of backstabbers and gossipers. People at church were always saying how Mormons were so wrong. It really pissed me off. They don’t see how the church is. They think their way is the only way and everyone else is so wrong and they call themselves christains??? Little do they know just because the branch or other group has a different name they hate on them. Well, I got so tired of the church I left after beeing a worship director. I hated the gossip and judging backstabbing about people. Even they will gossip in the nondenominatial churches about each other. The Pentacostals roll around on the floor and drool and call themselves lovers of christ when that is satanic worhship. That was when I was the music director of the church and finally I slammed the pastor and told him I am done with the church, and i will never ever go back to a pentacostal church. The way that they said that they love christ is sick... and here they are saying love one another and we need to reach out. All the prodastant churches say this, but then, they do the complete opposit. Where as the mormon church and as part of the faith are working so hard but yet these stupid Christian churches are hating on you. This is where I come to the rescue. Keep up the faith and stadning up for what you believe. You are actually doing the work that God has called you to do, but the pentacostal and other churches can’t even do that. But yet they have no problem gossiping and hating on other people. For me it sickens me. The wonderful thing about you all is that you can really see the love, and you all are out their doing the work that you should bee doing. When others criticize you for something that they could bee doing but nope all the other churches and beliefs point their finger. That is why I got out of the church. Believe me. I feel for all Mormons. I have friends who are Mormon. Oh believe me. The last day i was at the church as a music director in this pentacostal church I told the minister that when i leave their will bee no more pianist. And i put a curse on him. Well, guess what. I talk to someone that goes to that church, and asked them if they had found a pianist yet, and the answer was no. They didn’t find one. I got so sick and tired of people acting like fools and running around the church and rolling on the floor practically puking and saying that it was from God when it was not. A spearit filled person would never do that nonsense. To me god is really going to have a talk with them come judgement day. Kayla, stand up for waht you believe. I am so proud of you, and I will go to bat for you all because I know that you are wonderful and the church has a love unlike the nondenomanational churches. The guy in the video does not know official Mormon doctrine. He states that "Mormonism believes that God himself has evolved." That statement was bandied about by some members of the church, but was never official doctrine. To answer the charge that Mormons are not Christian, the bible (KJV) is a solid part of LDS doctrine, making the Christ of the Bible the same Jesus Christ whom LDS believe in and follow. Additionally, everything the Book of Mormon says about Jesus Christ and his teachings, the Bible agrees with and supports.

Wow, nice deflection from the truth. There is nothing in Mormonism that cannot not be contradicted using their own works example, Abraham 4:3,4,10 5:8 { Many Gods exist } And they the Gods said: Let there be light: and there was light. And they the Gods comprehended the light, for it was bright......... And The Gods pronounced the dry land, earth; And The Gods planted a garden in Eden, If we should take a million worlds like this and number their particles, we should find that there are more Gods than there are particles of matter in those worlds. How many Gods there are, I do not know. But therenever was a time when there were no Gods and worlds…. JOD 2:345 7:333 Brigham Young We were begotten by our Father in Heaven; the person of our Father in Heaven was begotten on a previous heavenly world by His Father; and again, He was begotten by a still more ancient Father; and so on, from generation to generation, from one heavenly world to another still more ancient, until our minds are wearied and lost in the multiplicity of generations and successive worlds... The Seer 132 Orson Pratt Moses 2:3,4,10, 3:8 { Only one God exists } And I, God, said: Let there be light; and there was light. And I, God, saw the light; and that light was good. And I, God, divided the light from the darkness. And I, God, called the dry land Earth; And I, The Lord God,planted a garden eastward in Eden Mosiah 3:5 { God has always been he never changes } Mormon 9:19 For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity ot all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles. And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being ? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not ;if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God; and is a God of miracles. {God has not always been God he was once a man} I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. It is the first principle of the gospel to know for a certainty the character of God, and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another, and that He was once a man like us.... History of the Church 6:305 Joseph Smith Our Father Advanced and Progressed Until He Became God President Joseph Fielding Smith said: “Our Father in heaven, according to the Prophet, had a Father, and since there has been a condition of this kind through all eternity, each Father had a conition of this kind through all eternity, each Father had a Father DOC 2:47 Moroni 7:22 8:18 {God has always been God} Mormon 9:9-10 For behold, God knowing all things, being from everlasting to everlasting, behold, he sent angels to minister unto the children of men..........For I know that God is not a partial God, neither a changeable being; but he is unchangeable from all eternity to all eternity. For do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and in him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing ? And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then have ye imagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles ( God was a man } I will go back to the beginning before the world was to show what kind of a being God is. What sort of a being was God in the beginning ? God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens !.... Here then, is eternal life---to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all gods have done before you, History of the Church 6:306 Joseph Smith Mormon prophets have continuously taught the sublime truth that God the Eternal Father was once a mortal man who passed through a school of earth similar to that through which we are passing. He became God---an exalted being. Gospel Through the Ages 104 Milton R. Hunter Mormonism does not tend to debase God to the level of man, but to exalt man to the perfection of God. Millennial Star 23:181 Charles W. penrose As man is, God once was; as God is, man may become. Millennial Star 54 Lorenzo Snow He is our Father--the Father of our spirits, and was once a man in mortal flesh as we are, and is now an exalted being...... God has once been a finite being.. Journal of Discourses 7:333 Brigham Young {God is a Spirit} The Doctrine and Covenants Theology On the Doctrine of The Church of The LATTER DAY Saints. 1835 Lecture Fifth. of Faith Section V … We shall, in this lecture speak of the Godhead: we mean the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There are two personages who constitute the great, matchless, governing and supreme power over all things.......They are the Father and the Son: The Father being a personage of spirit, glory and power: possessing all perfection and fulness: The Son, who was in the bosom of the Father, a personage of tabernacle, made, or fashioned like unto man, … Pp 53, Joseph Smith Alma 18:26-28 “ and then Ammon said; Believest thou that there is a great Spirit ? I looked up the definition of Christianity on wikipedia.com. It said that you must believe in God and Jesus. You must believe that he rose from the dead and died on the cross. You must believe he loves and saves all. Mormons believe this. It says nothing about believing about the trinity or believe in the bible. It is just some reasons why we do not believe in some of bible verses is because it goes against some of our beliefs and it also says stuff like drinking coffee is no problem. Coffee is addictive.
@rayma666 жыл бұрын
The Bible says nothing about coffee. But tell me, what is the problem? Mormons don't believe he suffered and died for our sins. They think the penalty was paid in the garden of Gethsemane. The trinity is just another way of saying there is one God. He expresses himself through his spirit and in the personage of Jesus to pave the way to heaven, but there is only one God. Mormons believe in infinite gods, and 3 for this world. You don't "believe in the Bible;" that's just how we come to know the gospel and the works that God has done throughout history. You believe in Jesus, the true Jesus. Even the Bible talks about people preaching false Christs and to be wary of them. That is why they're not Christians.

Mormons are Christians. Deuteronomy 4:2 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. Does this mean not to read anything after? No. Revelation 22:18 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: It means not to add to the book of revelation. The Bible is made up of many books written by prophets of God. Same with the Book of Mormon. By the way it's the Pearl of Great Price not pearls. Here is a scripture for you. Mathew 7:1-5 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

9 My mind at times was greatly excited, the cry and tumult were so great and incessant. The Presbyterians were most decided against the Baptists and Methodists, and used all the powers of both reason and sophistry to prove their errors, or, at least, to make the people think they were in error. On the other hand, the Baptists and Methodists in their turn were equally zealous in endeavoring to establish their own tenets and disprove all others. 10 In the midst of this war of words and tumult of opinions, I often said to myself: What is to be done? Who of all these parties are right; or, are they all wrong together? If any one of them be right, which is it, and how shall I know it? 11 While I was laboring under the extreme difficulties caused by the contests of these parties of religionists, I was one day reading the Epistle of James, first chapter and fifth verse, which reads: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 12 Never did any passage of scripture come with more power to the heart of man than this did at this time to mine. It seemed to enter with great force into every feeling of my heart. I reflected on it again and again, knowing that if any person needed wisdom from God, I did; for how to act I did not know, and unless I could get more wisdom than I then had, I would never know; for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible. 13 At length I came to the conclusion that I must either remain in darkness and confusion, or else I must do as James directs, that is, ask of God. I at length came to the determination to “ask of God,” concluding that if he gave wisdom to them that lacked wisdom, and would give liberally, and not upbraid, I might venture. 14 So, in accordance with this, my determination to ask of God, I retired to the woods to make the attempt. It was on the morning of a beautiful, clear day, early in the spring of eighteen hundred and twenty. It was the first time in my life that I had made such an attempt, for amidst all my anxieties I had never as yet made the attempt to pray vocally. 15 After I had retired to the place where I had previously designed to go, having looked around me, and finding myself alone, I kneeled down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God. I had scarcely done so, when immediately I was seized upon by some power which entirely overcame me, and had such an astonishing influence over me as to bind my tongue so that I could not speak. Thick darkness gathered around me, and it seemed to me for a time as if I were doomed to sudden destruction. 16 But, exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me, and at the very moment when I was ready to sink into despair and abandon myself to destruction-not to an imaginary ruin, but to the power of some actual being from the unseen world, who had such marvelous power as I had never before felt in any being-just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. 17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other-This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him! 18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)-and which I should join. 19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.” 20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time

I am a mormon..and its so funny how people always see Mormonism and Christianity in a different...like they are two seperate things. You how many seperate believes there are in Christianity? Jehovah Witnesses believe you cannot give blood because the bible says so, Pentocost believe if you are touched by the Holy Ghost you talk a different language cuz the bible says sooo, Adventists believe you cannot eat pork cuz the bible says so....... so its not Mormons vs Christians..we all have our differences. The defenition of a Christian is someone who believes Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he died for every mankind so that we can be forgiven en return to God our Father. John 3:16 For God so love the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever will believe in Him may not perish but have everlasting life. Book of Mormon: 32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God. Moroni 10: 32 So instead of disputing about who is wrong and who is right. why dont we focus on what we have in common. That whats wrong with the Christian world nowadays...constantly criticizing other churches for some reason...let them be..let people believe what they want too ! even if you dont agree. live and let live.

CCL it's because even though it may seem the same, it's not. Not because we are being difficult as Christians. In the verse you posted it is literally saying that grace is only sufficient if you are perfect, act perfect, and completely repent. For Christians this is just not the case. Grace is grace is grace. Jesus's death covers all, and in his resurrection we are completely free from judgement and in believing in him we are saved completely. Christ is the ONLY way to heaven, our works will not get us there or get us higher. For Mormons Christ's death and resurrection is incredibly downplayed. Obviously as a Christian when your whole faith and trust relies on Jesus' death and ressurection as payment for our sin and imperfections, and a Mormon comes along and says, but you still need to follow these rules to be accepted, you are saying to them Jesus didn't do anything essentially. To us Jesus died and rose again to save us completely. "It is finished." FINISHED.

I would like to say real quick, as a Christian, that Mormons state you can only become a Mormon by being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, not by believing the Book of Mormon. Therefore, theoretically, all Mormons believe what is taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; aka Mormonism.

He rephrases the question to : Is Mormonism Christianity? He claims that they believe in Mormonism, not Biblical Christianity. But is Christianity Biblical Christianity? The central teachings of many Christian Churches today are based more on Church traditions than on the Bible.Many Protestant groups refuse to recognize Roman Catholics as Christians.Many Roman Catholics refuse to recognize Protestants as members of the true Christian faith. Many Evangelicals refuse to recognize other Protestants as true Christians. Many of the "born again" brigade see only themselves as "Christians."So what on earth does he mean by "Christian?" Probably those that share his views.Anyone who actually reads the Bible will quickly see that many of the teachings of Christianity are not to be found within its pages.

There's no benchmark for Christianity in bible based religion. This is because it is tens of thousands of differing denominations, each with their own interpretation of scripture, and no two are alike. So a better term for it is babel. Essentially they each have their own God, Christ, and gospel. Seeing that the Bible teaches one God, Christ and gospel. Then the Bible stands as a silent witness against the collective thing that refers to itself as Christianity.

Todd I have a sincere question...You use Jude as a proof text for scripture being complete and that being what he meant in jude 1:3 However 1st, 2nd, 3rd John as well as Revelation were written after Jude so how can this be ? I do believe Scripture is Complete, I just question your use of the Jude reference to prove it.

“The Bible doesn’t teach that there is a third Heaven” - (2 Cor 12:2) “I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago… such an one caught up to the third heaven.” I respect that you are trying to teach according to your understanding and belief. Never going to fault a Christian for doing that. You are faithfully serving to the best of your ability. But I do recommend that you be careful not to contradict yourself with God’s word while asserting that the difference between your practice of Christianity and mine is that one is biblical and the other is not. Also, I think it would be more helpful if you had a Latter Day Saint share their beliefs, or atleast quoted LDS scriptures, because some of your suggestions for what we believe was either misconstrued or inaccurate altogether. Thank you for your thoughts! I would be happy to answer any questions you have about our faith.

Read John 17:11, NIV: "I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one." Jesus said protect them by the power of god name, the name that given to him. Thats why when we pray to god we need to say in Jesus name. Amen.

It's interesting to listen to someone tell you that you do not believe in Christ when you know that you do. Especially after you have spent a lifetime praying to get to know him and his will for you, and you absolutely know through a precious, personal moment of heavenly revelation that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is organized, by the Savior himself, and he will direct every person on this earth to it, if they will just seek him and ask his will. Then you spend a lot of time having your friends being told that you do not know what you truly know, and that you have been deceived, when you know that you have had a moment of direct revelation from our Father in Heaven. I suggest that you spend less time trying to justify what you think the Lord believes, and find out from him what he actually wants you to do to return to him. Then you will find out what grace, charity, and the personal love of the Savior really is as he directs you back to him.

While Yeshua is held in high esteem by Muslims, Mormons, Jehovah's witnesses, and others of various theological beliefs, those groups teach that Yeshua was a created being. It is orthodox Christianity's affirmation of full deity of Yeshua and His uncreated nature that makes Christianity unique from all other religions and philosophies. The early creeds of the Biblical Christian Church unequivocally teach that Yeshua was NOT created but that He is eternal divine Person, the Son of God. Muslims teach that Yeshua was a virgin born human prophet, but came into existence just like everyone else. Mormons, who adhere to a modern day form of Arianism, believe that Yeshua had a beginning, just as God the Father had a beginning. Jehovah's witnesses say that Yeshua was the first creation of Jehovah and was originally called Michael the archangel. So on which side of the creator/creature divide does Yeshua actually fall? Is Yeshua a creature, and this part of the created order, or is He, along with the Father and the Holy Spirit, the creator of all things? When attempting to answer the question of "was Yeshua created? there is no better person to look to than Yeshua Himself. Yeshua, God the son, was not created. He has always existed, He has NO beginning or end. The Sin took on human flesh at a particular point in human history (John 1:14). Christians refer to this event as the incarnation (the act of being made flesh). This act was integral to salvation (Galatians 4:4-5, 2 Corinthians 5:21), Hebrews 9:22). From the incarnation onward, the eternal, uncreated Son is both truly God and truly man. But there was never a time when the Son did not exist. He was never created. Yeshua always was and will forever remain "our great God and Savior (Titus 2:13).

It's like the difference between water and wodka. If you prepare a bottle for a baby, you'd want someone to point out which one is water and which one is wodka, since they both look the same, right? That's the same with Christianity.

@VivKittie325 жыл бұрын
James Champ I was raised a Mormon until the age of 18 when I decided it wasn’t for me. I do remember a belief in Jesus Christ as my savior being an important part of the faith, but He wasn’t as central as He is in other Christian religions. It’s more like God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. There’s a definite distinction. There’s a heavier focus on the Book of Mormon than the Bible. Mormons do read the Bible but they also hold skepticism for it, only believing it as far as it’s been translated correctly. Mormons more often refer to Jesus Christ as Christ than Jesus. Laziness is not tolerated at all. It’s a lay ministry so it’s all hands on deck all the time. Grace comes at the end when you’re done bustin’ your buns to be “ worthy” by good works. So “Let go and let God” is not really a thing in Mormon culture.. 😂 I guess you let go at the end. Therefore that engenders a culture of obedience; to the words of their Prophet(s) and the teachings of the Book of Mormon. Yes, there are cult like aspects to the religion, but by and large Mormons (most) are (now anyway) a peaceful loving group who would give you the shirt off their back... as long as you join. 😉 Yes there are weird elements I haven’t mentioned that the gentleman on the right talks about..this comment is already too long. 🤣

Jesus is clearly described in the word of God which we call the bible. Then a religion declares Jesus was spiritually begotten by a Mother God along side with Lucifer, are they worshiping the same Jesus? This religion believes God the father was a man on another earth and went through the same process of temptations and so on. God had to get a temple recommend before qualifying to become a God who literally begotten Jesus in the spiritual world. These words upset people because it should. Any honest Mormon would say they have no problem with anything I said. Now tell me do they worship the same God and Jesus? THEY DON'T! so stop giving them any credit they don't deserve.

Great videos. Great Facts. All so right. May I add? When asked if Mormons are Christians, change the question by asking "are Christians saved from God's wrath and why?" This will cause the LDS Member to tell you the differences. Realize the the LDS Church is going around telling Christians how wrong we are, and there answers will show you the differences. Many of them you just spoke about. The way I approach them is to ask them to read Matt 5:48 and ask them if they are right now "Perfect before God" and they will say "No" that it is a progression, baptism by water that gets you saved. My reply is. I am right now and have since I accepted Christ as my Savior may Perfect before God. Say this with total confidence because of Heb 10:14. I can do nothing more to make me more saved than back in 1974 when I accepted Jesus as my Savior. No works simply by faith. Now I do works for Christ because of the Grace God gave me and I so deeply want others to know this simple, powerful and all sufficient grace. "It is finished" means nothing else needed. This throws off the "Work Base" Mormons hoping to get Gods Grace.

The fans may debate and argue over which Beatle had the best singing voice ( and it would take a life-time and more to make any sense of the madness. Especially with everyone claiming to have a correct opinion ). The Beatles were second rate because their fans were second rate. Hale Hafa, your logic is totally bogus! You are claiming ( The King James Bible ) Jesus is guilty by association. Christian doctrine is weak because Christians are weak; Right? Association fallacy An association fallacy is an informal inductive fallacy of the hasty-generalization or red-herring type and which asserts, by irrelevant association and often by appeal to emotion, that qualities of one thing are inherently qualities of another. Two types of association fallacies are sometimes referred to as guilt by association and honor by association. ( Keep in mind that the Jesus I speak of is not the Mormon Jesus { Totally different } and the Christian doctrine I speak of is not Mormon doctrine { also totally different}). You may place 200 million Chinese soldiers in the same uniform and have them march to the same tune ( similar to Mormons marching together ) but that does mean that their doctrine is the true doctrine!

Can someone explain what baptism for the dead does mean? I can't understand it. I know its not what they say but how do i explain to them what it really means.
@LHJlives4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristina, We believe that all people must be baptized in order to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, no exception (John 3:5). Jesus set the example for the rest of us by being baptized even though He was perfect and sinless. But what about those people who live deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea or Africa who never even heard of Jesus? Are they condemned to an eternity of being excluded from God's Kingdom? If so, then that's not fair to them because they had no control or choice over where or when they lived. God is perfectly just and merciful, so He has provided a way for these people to receive baptism and the Gospel even after death. We believe that when Christ died He organized a missionary effort among the dead to preach to those who never accepted His Gospel when alive (1 Peter 3:19), in Christianity this is often referred to as the Harrowing of Hell. These people could now accept the Gospel, but they still needed to be baptized. You can't baptize a spirit, so you have someone who can stand in the place of the deceased person. Baptism for the dead is also called 'vicarious baptism', because a living person is being baptized on the behalf of the deceased person. HOWEVER, just because a baptism was done on someone's behalf does not mean it is immediately binding. The deceased person must still accept the baptism in order for it to be considered valid. The deceased person can either accept the baptism or reject it. The living person won't know if the deceased person accepts it or not, but that's not their concern. The point is to give the deceased person the OPPORTUNITY to choose. Baptism for the dead is specifically mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:29, "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?". It's an act of mercy, a gift from a loving Heavenly Father.

There are three primary differences between Mormons and all other churches : 1) you can take everything the LDS Church teaches directly to Heavenly Father, having faith in Christ , and through the power of the Spirit of truth , you will know it is true . James 1 vs 5 If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God Isaiah 8 vs 19-20 Should not a people seek to their God ? To the living and the dead , for the law and the testimony . The Bible also states you can know the deep things of God through the Holy Spirit . 2) Eternal Marriage and families The Bible says if you are faithful in a little , I will bless you with more . In the rest of Christianity , God’s reward for a faithful marriage is a divorce . “ until death do you part” 3) Eternal procreation Once again God’s reward for your faithfulness in this life is to take the gift of procreation from you forever . We know this is not the case . The first of these three differences is the most important . The living God has control over what is true, not men and women . The Bible also says God is the same yesterday, today, and forever . He is unchangeable . From Adam to the Apostle John, God called Prophets and Apostles and empowered them with His Spirit. The majority of them were commanded to write down what God told them . Thus you have the Bible . If God is unchangeable then why did the Bible stop. If the people of the day were inspired by God and had His authority then why wasn’t what they said scripture ?

...one more thought. John 17:3. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Obviously knowing God and Jesus Christ is very important and one of our purposes in life. There is a remarkable book called Jesus The Christ by James E Talmage. The book is centered around the life and ministry of Jesus Christ and is very comprehensive. The text is pulled from the Bible predominantly. I promise you will be inspired by the book, come to know Jesus Christ better from the book and make an assessment for yourself if mormons are christians. See for yourself...

Thanks, Nicole, for being one of the few in the comments section to defend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, i.e., the Mormon Church as this video refers to the Church. It never ceases to amaze me how some good people still continue to push the narrative that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are somehow not Christians even though the very title of the Church is the Church of JESUS CHRIST. If one were to look up the definition of Christianity, here it is: the religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, or its beliefs and practices. So with that in mind, how is it that 'Mormons' are not Christians when WE believe in and follow the teachings of the Old and New Testament which is the gospel of Jesus Christ. And how is it that 'Mormons' are not Christians when the Church's other books of scripture (The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price) are all centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ. I just don't understand it. Btw, I used to know a Nicole Freeman way back in college - I wonder if you are that same Nicole?!! Haha

However wonderful and glorious the gift of resurrection is, God has much more, potentially, in store for us - through grace AND works. Consider the many verses in the Bible alone regarding 'works'. I reference several for you to look at but definitely not a complete list: Psalms 33:15 and 62:12, Proverbs 24:12 and 31:31, Ecclesiastes 3:22, John 10:38, 2 Timothy 4:14, Titus 1:16, JAMES 2:14 and 2:22-24, Revelations 2:23 and 14:13. There are many more passages of scripture pointing to the importance of each one of us' ultimate destination after this life. What are your thoughts on John 14:2 about 'mansions' in connection with this discussion, Missa? And this verse, Galatians 2:16, to bring it all ultimately back to the absolute necessity of God's grace in order for any and all of us to be in the Kingdom of God.
