re your guests comments on cocoa, global average price is about $3/kg, high quality beans for high quality chocolate go for about $15/kg and high quality Hawaiin beans are about $30kg. All this according to my son who manages a cocoa plantation on north of Hilo, Hawaii.

Just had a look at the cocoa chart and I don't know ow what he is talking a out that cocoa is near 50 year lows. No where near it. Does anyone know what he is talking about or where I got it wrong. Current cocoa price is 2654/ton.

Nothing, because if the prices of food increase, and the money supply does not increase. Food prices will increase, but other prices will decrease accordingly. The only way, the general prices will increase, and the purchasing power is loss, is for the government and the monatary authorities decided to increase the quantity of money, and production of goods and services does not increase correspondingly.

I remeber 1969 LA burning without stop Aug to Dec. (I rember because of the moon landing) Only Mother nature coiould douse the fires...by Chrismas we had ceaseless rains, mud slides and rock slides , entire cliff faces collaps 300ft or more back from the original edges.., flooding highway 1 shut down boulders blocking it. - Then we had a terrible earthquake on the heels of the weather problems. Pretty much the same thing 50 years ago.
