Unfortunately I didn't see your last video on the subject until last night. I get behind on your videos and then I love to binge them so I was all caught up last night and then I see this this morning. I'm not in the trucking industry. I'm an electrician so all of our materials come through the trucking industry and every single day we unload several large trucks so I really appreciate everything you guys do to keep us moving. Now that you have shed some new light on this situation I want to let you know that it flat out infuriates me. The way I see it these large truck companies seem to forget where they came from and that they already have all of the advantages but now greed is causing them to play just as dirty as the corrupt politicians that are destroying this great country. At a time where the little guy is already at an unfair advantage it doesn't seem right kicking a man or woman while they are already down . I will definitely be leaving my peace of mind in the link. As a rancher and a trucker you're getting a rough deal in both of your professions right now and it doesn't seem fair. I will also be sharing this video with everyone I can think of and hope we can get the result you guys deserve. Best of luck my friend.

A speed limit is not the way to go. As usual, the "government" is not in a position of reality. It takes a "driver" to know what and where power/speed is needed an if the "government" wants to hold the speed down, work with the drivers, not the "suits".

I drive a truck with the new technology. I can tell you it is Extremely annoying. It adds considerable stress to the job with very little benefit. Road construction is everywhere, routing out of normal travel lanes, and it makes the lane-tracking alarm system constantly beep/buzz... And that interrupts the stereo. So when I'm trying to listen to music or anything I'm interested in hearing I end up getting very frustrated. The collision avoidance radar on the front of the truck is also extremely annoying. People have a bad habit of passing trucks and then slowing down. The instant they do, the collision avoidance system starts beeping louder and louder unless I also slow down. I'm not interested in constantly having to slow down, so I move into the left lane to pass. About the time I get beside the car they speed up just enough that I can't make the pass. Collision avoidance systems and lane-tracking systems need to be able to be at least temporarily disabled by the driver. Everything they force on us makes me look forward more eagerly to retirement.

Very interesting…. I wasn’t aware how the systems work!

If you are using cruise control and a car slows in front of you, it will automatically slam the brakes on the truck. Talk about dangerous. So I just keep my foot on the floor and don't use the cruise control.

From the UK (new to the channel, just binge watched the lot 😜😜) Every truck over here is governed at the same speed. And every single thing you predict will happen, happens! All day, every day! No time to slow down, always chasing timeframes, huge tailbacks behind trucks overtaking each other and, as far as I can tell, no reduction in accidents/fatalities on the roads. It's just BS and I hope it doesn't pass for all your piece of mind 👍👍. Keep smiling, don't ever shave and maybe one day I'll see that cab over in the flesh 😎😎

Thanks for posting. I'll add my comments to the government website opposing this proposed mandate. Point 1. I wrote a paper about speed limits when I was in college. The research clearly demonstrates that if everyone goes the same speed, there are less crashes. Conversely, if I'm going 55 mph, while Harry's going 65 and Sally is going 75, that variation in speed will cause problems (i.e., accidents) as people converge at different speeds. Thus... having some truckers going 70 mph and others going 65 mph will lead to more wrecks. Point 2. Truckers are having massive challenges right now with diesel prices skyrocketing. They simply can't afford another whack to the wallet.

Everyday folk. With speed limiters, a truck will be trying to pass another truck. The trucker won't surrender. If it takes 5 miles to pass the truck, your 5 miles of waiting to get back to your normal travel speed, will be because this speed limiter bill was seen as a good idea to BIG MONEY.

Half these guys they get today not even qualified to be behind the wheel there trying there best to run the little guy out of business. At first years ago it was the 14 hour rule then the 30 minute break now it's ELD and there still not happy so it's the speed limter crap. Yep well you might as well write US GOVERNMENT ON THE SIDE OF YOUR TRAILERS OWNER OPERATORS BECAUSE THAT'S WHO SEEMS TO OWN IT. IF I QUIT DRIVING MY TRUCK I GUESS I'M GOING TO A PLANT IT WILL BE A COLD DAY IN HELL BEFORE I WORK FOR A MEGA CARRIER

I commented, this is nuts. If you have most trucks doing 65 and every truck has different transmissions and tires sizes, you will have trucks going 1 mile slower or faster. How many times have you been behind two trucks drag racing nether one for miles willing to give in. I also drive slow to get better fuel mileage, but when I come up on a slow truck, I speed up and I don't sit there holding traffic up, so they're going to take that away from me, ok. It has been this cat and mouse game since late sixties I noticed bigger companies hiring kids to drive and anyone who was tired of his nine to five, they put you as a rider then a driver with a experienced driver but seldom a solo and your fuel squeezing three hundred cummins or six seventy one detroit that barely could ever reach speed limit except downhill.. Those rigs had high miles an low maintenance so were in ditchlines with everything scattered along the highway till the insurance company no longer paid for damages to loads. I saw a beer truck on its side an by the time the wrecker got there, the townspeople had fridges full of free beer. I would not go through a broker as they took more of my money than was right so I made it a habit to go right to companies I wanted to hire to.. I rolled in cash.... I hope the little guy gets a break someday

Wait until the technology they are installing and testing in Europe comes here , they have automatic cameras speed radars on road side , also those cameras can measure the safety distance between vehicles , any infractions and you get your tickets in the mails , so you might leave for two weeks and once you come home and check your mailbox you realize you got a few tickets maybe , lost of a few points on your driving license if not your license . Last time I talk with a friend truck in Europe , he went back to work for a freight company , he told me all the trucks have a géolocalisation system and also they can control his truck from the office , he was driving a bit too fast going down hill , and all the sudden his truck slow down and he right away he got a phone call from his office to tell him he was driving too fast and they had to take over .

@@realwildwildwest also truck drivers have a personal card that looks like a American driving license with an electronic chip on it , they enter that card into the truck computer and everything is recorded on it and save for 28 days , so if they are pulled over or going thru a driving check point , the law officer will read that card on his computer to check all the driving hours and driving speed and can give the driver a ticket also for any violation committed for those past 28 days , which they will switch to 56 days in 2025 .

I did some research before posting my comment and here is the comment I left. Anyone reading this is more than welcome to use my comment. Just copy and paste. I am against the rule you are proposing that would limit the speed of truckers on the highways and interstates. First off, I am Well aware that this rule is being backed and pushed by the large trucking companies to, according to them, "level the playing field". However, the playing field would not be leveled because the rule would allow the big company drivers to drive at 70 MPH if they have the trucks with all the latest and greatest upgrades and limit the small trucking companies to 65 MPH because they don't have, or can't afford, all the fancy upgrades. The USA, was built on the backs of small companies. As a matter of fact, according to the US Census small business amounts to 99 percent of businesses in the United States. There are more than 3.5 million truck drivers in the U.S. ONE out of every NINE are independent and the majority of them are owner operators. So with this rule you would be taking business Away from the little guy/small companies. Now that I know the big companies are pushing this rule, I believe they are why you are pushing for it. It isn't because you think the roads are unsafe for those of us in smaller vehicles it's because big business carries more clout than small business does. NO, this rule is Bad for business!

Thanks for your attention to this. I was one comment, you were the reason for many, many more. I'm gonna see if I can add more. Good stuff, thx. Side note: You're 1000 times right. " I need to move when I need to move". Speed discrepancies are dangerous, lane camping drivers increase lane changes and those speed discrepancies. All the while, however, steady, moderate speed wins the race for production efficiency without breakdowns. ALL driver education is what should be happening. The rule change approach is only aimed to remove "liabilty" from the big carriers. Essentially driving us further from safe experienced drivers on safe roads. Thats my 2 cents, if people also concur, thats what I'll add.

Safety doesn't have much to do with it, it's all about their 💵💵. My aunt works on the admin side of a mega carrier and it's all about saving money on fuel. Like the wheel filler disc's saved 1/10th of a mpg per truck add that to 1000+ trucks you're saving a lot of money. 65 vs 70+ is what .5 a mpg+, multiply that across 1000+ trucks you're saving a ton of money on fuel and cheating the drivers out of more miles per day. Their just pissed because all the drivers bitch about getting their doors blown off by the smaller carriers 🤣

By commenting on the fmcsa website they will probably go against it and have the mega carriers up there speed or unlock it the the open road

I commented after the first video I'm not a trucker but I know a few truckers and plus it would be nice if no trucks were limited so it didn't take 10 miles for one truck to pass another lol

Speed limiters make overtaking slower vehicles more dangerous. Picture one truck overtaking a slower truck with only a two or three mile an hour difference in speed.

I ferried 100 used trucks from a major carrier to a smaller one for a summer, it was like racing go-carts but not in a fun way looking ahead and planning lane changes was all you could do to pass a similar governed truck but still were stuck side by side for miles it felt like.
