Excellent video great information. Nice to see how creative one can be. In the past, I used just a simple white paper in a 45 degree angle as well. Also, another good diffuser technic is to get an old film plastic small box, and cut it out the way it fits and sits perfectly on the pop of flash. It does magic too, no harsh straight light. When I upgraded from my old D200 to a newer camera, I wanted to go with the D500, since it was the same lineage as the D200, but the D500 no longer has a built in flash, so I went with the D7200. I find the built in flash to be very handy for those times you need some fill flash, or indoors for a quickie. I dont always want to carry around a off camera flash, when you just need one on occasion.
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post Ron and agreed!:) As mentioned in the vid, I would rather have something than nothing:). I like the external flash but do not always have one with me. Using the built-in flash with a few common props can make a huge difference in the resulting images:).
@rklmbd29346 жыл бұрын
In the situation where something is better than nothing, of course I agree. But I find the built-in is most useful as it was intended - as a fill flash in daylight. The TTL works very well in those cases and the result is quite natural and unobtrusive.
@ronshaw806 жыл бұрын
I agree. I use it mostly for fill flash, but it does come in handy for other uses as well. I use an off camera flash with a strobo frame when I know I will be indoors using a lot of flash, but for general walking around photos, which I do most of the time, I dont want to carry the extra bulk of an off camera flash.

Another great video. Thanks a lot. Now, I got a question if you don't mind answering. What about using the rear flash mode to enhance the BG more in the shot? I remember you had a video and talked about this before. and, do we need to use the tripod always as I am sure you know in this sort of the events setting up a camera and getting a quick shot is not easy with so many people? :) Many thanks
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback/question!:) Correct, I did not touch on rear curtain sync in this vid but did so in another one. The rear curtain sync can be helpful if taking a portrait using a relatively slow shutter (this will help to freeze the subject). Unfortunately, the rear curtain sync will not help with the background:). Nonetheless, nice to see you thinking outside the box:). All demos in this video can be used without a tripod since the shutter is greater than 1/60. I only used the tripod for demos to keep the composition and focus the same for each shot:).

Can't wait to see this video.. sometime tomorrow 🙈 To tired for now heh :D But on a quick note: I still use 'your' paper-towel trick on the built in flash when able - It's a sweet way of 'adjusting the setting manually'! I've been looking at some small photo tents with lights for product photos, simply to get started, but haven't pulled the trigger yet; I'm sure this video will help out a lot until I further improve my lighting situation and get a better setup ^.^ Lighting will have to wait.. For this month I have my heart set on reverse mounting lenses and maybe a ring flash ^.^ I'm sure it's an awesome video as always *Mark* (Nailed it!!.. But I cheated 🙈😂)

@@RealWorld I still have a lid from a butane can, which I cut a hole into + taped paper onto; it sits somewhat okay on the camera flash 👌😁 I forgot to ask: Have you tried reverse photography yourself yet? A few searches revealed nothing :) I'm currently thinking of buying a big set of step up/down rings to accommodate a single reverse ring - 3 lenses, 3 different sizes 😐 On top of that I'd hate anything to happen to the rear of even my cheapo Chinese lens so I'll also be buying a Bayonet to Filter adapter.. When I finally find a cheap nikon equivalent of the BR-3 ring (I found a set from Fotodiox that seems great). While I think it's fun tinkering around with this setup I can't wait until I can afford a proper macro lens! >.< However the Nikon 40mm Micro is ~305$ over here 😁
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
@@MrMiss-cp9bw Nice:). I have reversed my lenses to take macros but prefer tubes when possible:).
@MrMiss-cp9bw6 жыл бұрын
@@RealWorld Hmm, thanks a lot for the input.. it's funny how so few words can alter the entire view on a subject. I wanted the bayonet->Filter adapter mostly to preserve the lens, but also so I could 'select' aperture - Come to think of it, I'd probably be _less_ interested in reversing a lens, and fiddling with the setup/lights vs. how it works with tubes. I already feel tubes 'are a lot of work', so I'll silently shift my focus elsewhere for now ^.^ Again thanks a lot Mark, it's really super appreciated!

Hi sir, for the last one year I'm using nikon d5300 and 18-55mm kit lens. I'm interested on street, landscape and night photography. Now I'm planning to upgrade my lens. But I'm in a doubt. There are 2 choices one is nikon 18-300 mm and the other tamron 70-300 mm full frame. I don't like to change the lens every time and i dont want to compromise with the quality of the image also. So which one should i prefer? Or is there any other lenses out there which is suitable for my interest?
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
Ahhhhh yes, I can relate to your situation:). For many years I shot with the Nikon 18-200 simply because I wanted to the most versatile lens and it worked great (I still have it today but it is a bit rough:)). I ran with the 18-200 mounted and carried the fixed 50:). Now, I have a handful of lenses and tend to switch as needed. Nonetheless, I think the Nikon 18-300 is a good option ( amzn.to/2HYAN8y ). It is a bit pricey but keep in mind that lenses tend to hold their value very well ... this would allow you to buy now, use for it a year or whatever time, and sell for 80% or more of it's original value:).

Hi, I need your help, should I buy used nikon d5100 with 5 k shoots, 18-55 kit lens and 55-200 or nikon d3300 with 18-55 kit lens, I would by happy if you answer Ps. My english sucks!

LOL - not a problem!:) I do not have any issues with buying used as I have done so many times before. I created a video on buying used cameras that might be of help as well - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXeQppZnj9Gmfas The D5100 at 5k shots along with both lenses not bad (5k is low considering the age of the camera), however I might lean towards the D3300. Nikon removed the AA filter from the D3300 (this is the anti-aliasing filter which tends to soften images to some extent (not major but worth noting)). In addition, the D3300 has a higher resolution (24mp vs 16mp) and higher max ISO (12800 vs 6400).

Sir, please be kind enough to suggest a suitable upgrade for my current Canon 700d. Got some Canon assorted kit lenses. Shall stick with crop sensor. Thank you.
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
Hmmmmm ... are you lenses intended for a full sensor or crop? This might help provide the next step. I have used various full sensor cameras including the 5D Mark IV ( amzn.to/2fFw2z5 ) which is great/solid in my opinion, but you may need to upgrade your lenses.
@cdsreenath6 жыл бұрын
@@RealWorldlenses I have are for crop sensor except 50mm.stm.

@@cdsreenath Ahhhh the fixed 50 is great:). If you want to step into the world of full frame at a relatively low price point (although still pricey:)), I might suggest the Canon 6D Mark II ( amzn.to/2Ibwvul ).

Hi, I tried to use manual focus in my Nikon D3500 DSLR camera. but failed to get sharp/clear picture & images were blurry and out of focus. Would you please show us how to use manual focus with Nikon entry level DSLR series ?
@RealWorld5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post/question:). Manual focus is challenging to get tact sharp focus in my opinion. Why? Because technology built into the camera is better than our human eye(s):). Some cameras have focus peaking which allows the camera to highlight areas in focus. This serves as a quick reference for the photography to see what the camera sees. With focus peaking we are left to our own judgement ... if you have 20/20 vision, you have a better chance of nailing the focal point. If not, it will be challenging:). I typically leverage AF.

Hi, do you recomen the canon t7 or Nikon d3500 there both the same price. I’m not sure what to buy😭😭😭
@RealWorld5 жыл бұрын
Both are solid:). I typically lean towards Nikon if you plan to shoot photos and lean towards Canon if you plan to shoot video. Both can shoot video and photos - just my general thoughts:). If you are looking at the D3500, you might consider the D3400 ... Nikon removed the function button and IR sensor from the D3500 ... sensors are the same, etc.

Hi, how to use slow sync with canon 700d in outdoor shooting with built-in flash?
@RealWorld6 жыл бұрын
Use aperture priority and pop the flash. The 700d uses TTL by default which is nice, however you will most like to want to adjust the flash compensation down by a stop or two. The goal is to a small amount of light to offset the shadows:). I do not have a vid on this subject yet, but may create one:).
