Question, when you render stems, is it rendering them with any effects or automation that was applied? I noticed there was a noise shaper box on the render form you didn't cover.
@adamsteelproducer5 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. Noise shaping is only relevant to dither though, which is a whole other topic and is largely academic at 24 bit
@craigdaubbeats-rapinstrume91855 жыл бұрын
@@adamsteelproducer Ok thanks. I was wondering about the mixer effects being applied because in older videos people were going through all kinds of extras steps to get the stems to render with effects and automation. I'm thinking of switching from FL to Reaper but I needed the option to render stems easily with all effects. Thanks!! Appreciate the fast response!🙏

Great stuff Adam, I use reaper for all kinds of audio/video things so learning to render and export just parts is very useful, especially for stuff like tracks for my radio show, interviews and voxpops, that i can record on the fly them, timeline then up together for a show. All good. Stem & wildcard export and render is a time saver. Thanks very much.

Hi Adam. I'm new to Reaper and I appreciate your terrific tutorials on KZbin. I'm recording originals (very basic - piano, coals, drum-machine) to send to a producer). I have been able to follow you "Basics" tutorial (loading the UMC ASIO Driver) sufficient to lay down the raw tracks but when I open Reaper, it's now displaying: "There was an error opening the audio hardware: Error initializing ASIO driver" Also - the program is not allowing me to name tracks? Any ideas? Brian

whats the difference between rendering with ''STEMS (SELECTED TRACKS)'' and ''SELECTED TRACKS VIA MASTER''??? If i have for example: A limiter or another plugin on my master track and I want to render the whole project for mixing (all the separate tracks)? What's the best option???

Thanks for these tutorials Adam. I have just moved to Reaper after many frustrating years with the over fussy and now very buggy big name competitor - you know the one. I am getting on great with Reaper thanks to your tutorials but I have a question I can't answer. I record midi using a Korg Krome, so an external midi sound source rather than a VSTi. When it comes to rendering to audio, I just get a blank track with no audio wave. If I render from VSTi midi, Reaper picks up the audio no problem. I just can't find a workaround. Do you have any ideas?

There is sooo much information it's crazy... things I never even imagined about! Now, In regards to the regions section of the video, I'm not quite sure how to phrase this question, so please bear with me :) If I recorded my song and had 25 tracks, all these tracks would be in one area, so why would I have extra regions after the main track? So could I make a region out of each track or would it be simpler to just export them as stems at that point? I guess what's got me scratching my head, is why would I have extra parts after the main "area" of the song? Like in your example, "main song" and "drum bit". Once again, sorry if my question seems a little unclear.
@adamsteelproducer3 жыл бұрын
I think you may be thinking about regions the wrong way- they’re for if you’ve got more than one song/piece in a single project, I was just giving an example of a different piece in the same file. Stick with stems if you need your tracks to be separate
@d6ath6ang6l4 жыл бұрын
Could someone help me ? After having "render" my song, my MP3/WAVE file got like the first 0,5/1seconde of the song with out all the part. My song start at 0:00 with scream opening on guitar/drum and my voice come at 0:05 and not 0:00 with the guitar and drums... I can't figure it out how to "kill" that delay...
@sunnyRajkarnikar4 жыл бұрын
really appreciate the tutorials. Question: you mentioned markers when rendering master mix, it makes sense to annotate parts of the song(lets say). i understand that region is used for completely different purpose(to mark the whole song like a whole chapter in your example), but region could still be used for the same purpose as marker right? would it make sense to use region like that?
@zendakk3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use it like that. Moving regions moves everything within it on the timeline as well, so you can use it like an arrangement tool, shifting/reordering verses, choruses or whatever. Similar to what Cubase and Studio 1 does.

When you send all your stems to a producer, how does he line them all up in the daw of his choice. I mean they only have to be out by a second and it won't sound right. I mean some stems will have more gap at the start than another one, if you know what I mean?
@adamsteelproducer2 жыл бұрын
Make sure they all start at the same time, even if that means a large gap of silence on some of the tracks

Adam. I dont know what I might have done but I'm trying to master several tracls to -0.1 db but my master track first seemed to brick wall at -5 and on a new unsaved project seems to brick wall at -2.5. Does this have to do with my pan law? Is there a preference or a setting that can set the overall output volume of a track other than a limiter plugin?
@adamsteelproducer4 жыл бұрын
Sounds to me like you’ve got your master fader down below 0dB, that affects everything including master FX
@christopherheadcase68864 жыл бұрын
@@adamsteelproducer I wish I could attach a screen shot. The master is at default 0.0 but the meter wont rise past -5.0 db no matter how hard I hit the threshold on my L1 limiter
@adamsteelproducer4 жыл бұрын
Probably got the output on L1 at -5. Advice before I even see it, stop using L1, stop trying to hit -0.1, you’re killing it. Go for -1.0 maximum so compressed versions have a chance of sounding accurate
@christopherheadcase68864 жыл бұрын
@@adamsteelproducer it is the pan law. It is cuz I am using my mastering tools on an aux track not the main master track so thr pan law prevents anything above -2.5 (if that's what my pan law is set to) but even if I throw my L1 on thr master track. And set the output ceiling to -0.1 I can push the treshhold and it will red line on the master track .

A lot of the people we send mp3s to have little to no understanding of anything else (managers, artists, etc) so it’s much easier to just send them what they want if it’s just to listen back to a session
