Just did the rear cylinders on my '88 Mini. For the circlip fitting, I followed this little video showing an easy way to do it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJWVhn-Llpd_hbc Note he used a couple of big slider type clamps to hold a length of wood across the backing plate. An even better option is to use a pair of "mole" grips (we call them ViseGrips in North America) to clamp onto the hub flange so that the tool's curved outside edge of jaw presses against the new cylinder...forcing it up against the mounting surface. Then its just a matter of positioning the circlip other side and tapping with a little hammer and a small flat blade screwdriver as in video. Had never done this before and got it to go nicely in a couple of minutes .

I'm doing a 83 Mayfair would it be easier to build the rear sub frame up before putting it on the car?

Nathan Mcneill hey I have done it both ways in the past and find it much easier to do it this way it’s less weight to handle on your own etc but if you have help then yeah build up and put in it will roll a lot quicker thar way. 👍

I am not far behind you with my resto. I have just fitted my boot lid, did you know the boot hinges are marked LH and RH on the rear? Not sure if it makes any difference to the fit but yours are the wrong way around 🤣🤣

That’s ace glad yours is going ok. The boot hinges went back on how they came off they look fine and work etc fine so staying aha
