Rear Struts Replacement 03-07 Honda Accord

This video is made as a guideline to show you how to change the rear struts on a 2003-2007 Honda Accord. You can also use this as a guide for many other Hondas that have a similar suspension setup.

Nice video, good detail and tips. Very much appreciated. There are a few things I'd suggest adding: Make sure to orient the strut so that it matches the old one and use the correct torque spec on the bolts. I saw you just used an impact drill, but always best to use the correct torque (especially for something critical like this). Apologies if I missed you using a torque wrench.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes you're right. It is best to use a torque wrench and I should use it more often. Sometimes it is easier to just use the impact and just say the torque, but doing that is not doing it correctly so I should use it.

Cant always use torque wrenches, and when you add extensions and wobbles to get the torque wrench on bolts you might as well ignore the torque spec cause youll be way off. Good and tight is best for suspension

On engine, transmission and driveline internals. Sure, torque wrench all the way. But just not practical for everything on cars.

Nice video, thanks! I would guess the captive bushing at the bottom of the strut should ideally be tightened at ride height?

Yes it would be best to do it that way. Not sure why I didn't mention that in the video. That's my fault. It won't be the end of the world if you don't do that but... Probably better than not doing it.

Are those rear strut the same , left and right ? 😙 I just changed mine 2007. I just opened the big bolt 17mm and the smaller one 14mm. Then the 2 screws on top. On the left I just put it back the top screw and then I push the lower control arm so I can put the 17mm bolt and 14mm smoothly. On the right strut somehow I can not put the top screw evenly tight , it seems the top had a gap. Do the rear right strut position or the spring have to face inward or outward. Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure but they should be the same as far as I remember. But both sides can have slightly different pressures on them depending on how the bushings are worn.

@@AutoFixYT How about which side to face since the strut on car are not like table leg that goes straight. My car still in my driveway completely messed up after the thief take advantage stole my Catalytic converter. Rainy day in LA and the thief are harvesting Catalytic by cutting it in your driveway. 😙 People that read please be warned. 😙

Great Video, to the point. Is there a front and back orientation when you install the assembly? I like the fact that this video was made in a rust zone where not everything is shiny and clean on 15 year old cars 😀. I don't have the air compressor for a pneumatic, so I'll have to try it with just a battery impact, I hope will come free. BTW how do you like the Cross Climate tires? I'm considering some for my next set but have read they might be a bit loud on dry pavement, how are they on the (V6 EX-L) Accord?

Thank you! I don't think there is an orientation to them. If there is you'll know because the top bolts won't line up. But there shouldn't be. A good electric impact should do the trick. If not, use some heat and a long breaker bar, and lots of rust penetrant. As for the Cross Climate tires, they are awesome. This isn't my car so I can't tell you details but from what I've heard from the owner of this car they are really good, would definitely recommend!
