I am doing a similar job on an old Vectra. I hit a 'brick wall' and was about to give up but this video has inspired me to give it another go. Really innovative use of DIY tools. Top man..!

Thank you my brother for your video, I replaced my rear bushes myself following your steps and using what you used, was quoted alot of money to do this job and this devalued my car as I tried to sell it. It's now done and my arms are hurting. Thanks

great stuff! i just changed the front suspension arms and a spring and front shocks. I wish i'd videoed it now. The rear bushes are on my advisory to monitor. i'll probably end up watching vid again around this time next year if i have to change them. Thanks for an informative video, good luck next MOT

@stevehannen11 ай бұрын
@@williamclark206 I believe I used a 32mm one to cut thr rubber out and an 80mm to use when installing the Bush.. it has to be bigger than the hole the bush is going in to

Very useful video, as it shows the on-the-drive perspective, thank you Oscar. You have a friendly (and funny) demeanour and the comment of "Dee car iz screaming "Get reed of me"" in your particular (African?) accent had me laughing from the start. My cars seem to say that to me too! Great rigged up press tool for pushing the bush in and it shows that you can do this if you have the patience and application. I have to do this on my sons Astra next week but managed to find the proper tool cheaply enough to not need the hole saws! 😊 This video will be a great help. PS It is one year on, did you sell or do you still have the car?

Thank you, I love my zafi, still have it mate. I thought of selling it many times but is such a nice car.

will the front drop down with out the need to remove the rear springs or shocks bolts as when jacked up there will be no tension on them, remove bush bolts and lower front end ?

@@DavidNewton-j1b how did it go? I've never tried it that way. If it works, it would save a lot of time.

Hi oscar did you have to have it tracked for alignment or did it go back perfect:}
@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs9 ай бұрын
Hi, on these, you can't track the rear wheels, only the front.

Question,, for what reason can't you do it without removing bracket.. surely removing the pin is simpler.. ??
@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs Жыл бұрын
There is not enough space for the pin to come out. If you do it without removing the bracket that will be cool.

Good work chap and respect 👍 These bushes are a pain, i remember doing the rear ones on my old Vauxhall combo years ago with out any special tools and it was fecking nightmare getting then out, it was at that point i decided to invest heavily it tools mainly air tools, I've just done the same job on my combo different van this time but exactly the same bushes, only this time i took them out with my Astro Air hammer, thier ain't a lot that tool cant take out made light work of it, putting them in i used a long bolt and 2 sockets, much easier than last time, they do a special kit for trailing arm bushes but i couldn't justify spending £200 on a tool that I'll possibly never use again this being my last Vauxhall and all. Just out of interest did you have any handling issues while driving, my van used to snake in and out corners and i had very odd tyre wear, the thing was like driving a flipping boat around corners very strange feeling and i would loose the backend every so often going round roundabouts i thought originally the shocks were knackerd, when i looked underneath and put a torch on the bushes i could say daylight through the other side, absolutely knackered they disintegrated as soon as i put the air hammer on them.
@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs2 жыл бұрын
Excellent if you got sorted and yes mine was wobbling on corners and sometimes on the motorway if the road was uneven! I thought it was front wheel alignment off. Also there was a loud bang on the right side rear whenever I hit a hump or pothole! It is good now.

What do the rear suspension bushes do please. What's the parts job. Are they cheap to replace. Also the spring is it worth changing fir new ones. thank you
@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs2 жыл бұрын
The bushes softens the impact between the suspension and the body of the car. Without them or if they are broken, the ride is absolutely rough. You don't need to change springs if they are not broken or snapped. If your car bounces alot, change the shock absorbers. I hope that helps.

Good effort but entirely wrong method. Pushing on the bush rubber and centre is wrong and can cause misfitment and damage. You MUST use the right tool for the job readily available online. Pro vs home diyer bodgit
