Rearranging my 375 sq ft NYC apartment & installing a pendant by myself 🫠

Solo living has been hitting really hard recently... I sometimes wish that I had another person around (especially when it comes to heavy furniture and apartment maintenance) -- yet at the end of the day I wouldn't change a thing. Some call it personal growth, some call it needing to go to the gym to lift weights every now and again. In other news, I think it's time a purchase a mic to fix my wonky sound 🫠

My guess without a close up look is you are over watering the snake plant. They don’t like their feet wet and easily get root rot. The less attention you give them the better. Let it dry out completely before watering. I go weeks to a month without watering mine. I’d check the roots, if they are rotting you will need to remove and repot. You can Google the steps to take to salvage what’s left. Hope that helps!

Girl, that credenza was meant to be on that wall. It looks so good!! The light over the table turned out perfect!! Feeling lonely, stinks!! I am such an introvert and the loneliness is overwhelming at times. I feel your pain. I moved back in with my mom, I am 52, because I was so tired of feeling lonely. I do not think we were put in this life to feel alone. ❤❤❤❤ NYC is a dream enjoy the night life.

Hi Gail, You are making great choices in your apartment and I can so relate to much of what you talk about. I lived with a boyfriend, a now famous jazz musician in the West Village from age 22-24. We broke up, I kept the apartment, lived there until I was 30, with a 2 year break, where I had a gig, I’m also a musician, living in Europe. My apartment turned into a co-op, I bought it and then got married at age 30, and soon after rented this same apartment for the next 8 years after we moved to West Coast. Living by myself in NYC was SUCH a growing experience. Often very exciting, sometimes lonely, but always growing and learning, even if difficult. Your honesty and connection to yourself your feelings and your gratitude for the opportunities of having the unmatched experience of living in nYC, being in close proximity to friends, meeting new friends, the greatest jazz clubs maybe in the world and endless stimulation and opportunities for your life to take magical and unexpected turns. Enjoy this time of your life as much as you can.

Hi Gail! Sometimes I feel lonely and sometimes I want my me time . I am very picky with who my friends are. I have been reorganizing and decluttering and spring cleaning my apt. I love I can come and go as I please. I am very independent. I don't want to have to depend on a man. I decorate how I want to and I rearrange my furniture myself. I eat what I want to and go shopping when I want to. I stay within my budget. I love I can sleep in when 😂want to. I washed all of my windows today . Doing some of my spring cleaning. Love where you placed the credenza!. For late spring/summer, I actually kind of like where you had the living room chairs placed, flanking each side of the fireplace opening with the little book/cocktail table in the center (because you don't use the fireplace in the spring/summer months). It opened up your space (visually) providing what appeared to be considerably more walking space, in my opinion. Don't take my word for it. If you are curious, go back and look at the video @3:00 to about 3:45 and see the difference for yourself (and yes, I do realize it might be different). Just an observation... Decor is both cohesive and also interesting. Well done. Initially, I didn't care for the soon-to-be sold mirror over the highboy. However, once you added a third "natural" color of the earthenware (?) vase, and the jade (?) ring-holder (hand), it came together a bit more into a cohesive but interesting aesthetic of mixed natural elements, colors, and different textures. How fun are those 4 AM nights out, where you close the place down, and then get home in time to wash face/brush teeth & fall into bed at 5 AM? lol Fun, fun times and def a great part of living in NYC. Remember to hydrate with water BEFORE you fall asleep. You'll be glad you did the next AM. ; ) Out of the 10 years I lived there in my 20s, I think I lived alone for about 4 of them (but with my corgi, so not totally alone, ha!). It really is wonderful to be able to afford to be young, independent, and able to live on your own in such an extraordinarily vibrant and culturally rich urban center. Enjoy every minute of it you can because once you leave, it becomes even *more expensive* when you need your Manhattan fix and return to stay for 2 weeks or a month in a hotel or Airbnb.

I live in New Zealand aka Earthquake Central and that giant mirror on the dresser gives me the hee-bee gee-bees. And then you go on to stand on your dining room table - no wonder more accidents happen in the home 😮.

I admit that the grandmother/mother in me was holding my breath while you were standing on the table and “cube thingy.” You are strong and can do it alone but sometimes (when tired) we feel we can’t. Then, in my experience, it’s best to wait until we are feeling up to the task. Wish I could help with your plants but I’m resorting to faux plants in my home because I murder just about everything! DO NOT wear "bare feet" when moving furniture!!!! YIKES!! Credenza looks sooooo much better in the Living space! Me thinks the dresser should of went on the wall where the credenza was in the bedroom with the mirror leaning on it...Move the desk back where it was with the monitor on it ( do you stream TV thru that also?) You need a chair that can fit under that desk(sell that chair) & maybe a standing desk in the future might be a nice idea! The 'mirror' you can lean & cover that fireplace opening while waiting for it to sell. Does that 4 cube shelf you had in the living space fit inside your closet? You can get storage baskets for it for clothes, shoes, etc. ~Place is lookin' good....

I love when you post! Minor suggestions - get rid of the burlap that your plant is in. It's not pretty and looks messy. And, don't ignore your sheer lovely curtains. Don't let them look haphazard. Whether they are open or closed, make sure you pay attention to how they look. You don't need anyone - you're doing so well.

Very nice! I think the mirror would look fine on top of the dresser if you just painted the frame. I’d go with a warm neutral sage but whatever you like that would go better with the wood dresser. Your place is looking so good!

From what I've been told, if you kill a snake plant or a cactus, you have a serious black thumb. Lol. I feel your pain about the challenges that can come with living alone. I had a Roman shade made for my bathroom window. I took the old one down, which was an adventure. I stupidly thought all I had to do was screw the new one into the same holes. Nope. I've spent the last two days off and on, trying to hang it. It's now lying across the toilet instead of hanging on the window frame. Very frustrating. 😢 Lol
