Excellent. So much good info. I have heard some say they're "bored" with Reason's default RE, Effects and Utilities, but me thinks they just aren't feeling creatively inspired because there's so much variety to play with. It will take years to master all of these techniques. I'm bound to see each of these videos many times.

I don't even have Reason. Watching these tutorials just gives me inspiration because they show how single effects can transform synth patches id normally ignore into sounds that I'd gladly use in any production.

This is the device I am most looking forward to in Reason 6. That "keep pitch" button is what I've been wanting for a while. Let's get GLITCHY!
@ReasonStudios13 жыл бұрын
@VitalisCarbone There is a button on the Echo that says "sync." If you press that in, then it will use the tempo information in your song to give you delay times which are musical divisions of a beat. If you unclick it, then you set the time in milliseconds.
@ReasonStudios12 жыл бұрын
You could do one of two things... right click the Echo in the rack and choose "Create track for The Echo..." and that will make a sequencer track you can arm and record. Or hold down the option key (or alt, I think on Windows) and click the knob or switch you want to record. That will create an "automation" lane for that specific setting in the sequencer and you can record changes or even draw them in with the pencil tool also.

@ElectrizCity We definitely have some dubstep fans in the office but I personally don't make dubstep and I LOVE using the new devices for the music I make... which is primarily acoustic instruments with a some electronic parts used as enhancements. Pulveriser is wonderful at making instruments sound organic and real. The Echo is total vintage delay heaven. And Alligator adds texture to strings or other basic sounds. But yeah... the dubstep guys will love these, not to mention the new patches!

Great learning experience. I may have learned more in 10 minutes than in a year of goofing around with Cubase. I was totally unaware of ducking. And the thing with glitching drums and other sounds is so eye-opening. Now when I hear that stuff on the radio I will have a better idea of how fairly simple it is to create (once you're in the know).

I like propellerhead, a company made by a mix of young talented people and experienced too,with a fresh approach to innovation,like on this tutorial they often make jokes with a funny approach in music creation....but then we find they are very serious in the things that have to be so, like releasing robust software updates with highly optimised code and few bugs, this is quite rare in the industry.

@Aytac4Ever This goes for everything in Reason - hold down the option key (on a mac) and click on the button or knob you want to automate in the sequencer. A lane will appear in the sequencer for that device and that parameter.
@ReasonStudios13 жыл бұрын
@b92seven The big difference is the way the signals interact with eachother when the slider is part-way across. It's hard to explain until you play with it but dry/wet just fades the delay in and out. The roll slider actually changes the signal that's being delayed by blending the loop side with the original side. Those drum variations I show wouldn't be possible with the dry wet knob. The "fills" that are created happen because of the blending of both signals interacting with each other.

@NoqturnePL Nothing's ever out of the question. We are always considering what devices and features would best help people make more and better music. Spectrum Analyzers are definitely useful for people who like to get surgical in their mixing and frequency analysis. Some people do this in Reason already with the BV512 vocoder set up as a spectrum analyzer. If you search our forums for more info, you can download combinators people have made. Thanks for the feature suggestion!

Good stuff! I kind of couldn't afford Reason 6 when I bought it, but I'm so glad that I did!
@ReasonStudios13 жыл бұрын
@krypto1339 No. It's not the same as Dry/Wet. That just blends the balance between dry and wet as a volume relationship. This knob makes the delay and the dry signal interact and change the sound based on the position of the roll knob. It's hard to describe if you haven't tried it but it's nothing at all like a dry wet knob. Those fills, variations, and glitches wouldn't sound anything like that using a dry wet knob.

@asleskig From the question's description it sounds like The Echo is wired up as an insert and not an FX send from the mixer. If that's true, the answer is the wet-dry knob. Turn that way down and your drum beat will come through and then you'll just get that little blend of echo when you press the trig button. Alternatively, add The Echo from the mixer's effects sends and just dial in the amount of echo you want. Också, Jag kan bara lite svenska. Jag är Amerikansk. :)

@caffiney33 Have you adjusted the Wet/Dry blend down? The Echo, when used as an insert effect, loads as 100% wet meaning you'll only hear the echoes and not the original sound but adjusting the wet/dry knob. When used in a mixer aux send, the knob can stay at 100% and the blend is achieve by how much you turn up the aux knob.

Is there a possibility for a frequency visualizer device in future versions of Reason (6.5?) ? I think it would help a lot of producers that don't have absolute hearing. Also I know we could just use an external app but I was thinking about setting a vis for every audio track separately, so in case one instrument (e.g. low frequency bassline) would overpower the track, it would be more indicative what's the problem and where. Thanks for your time :)

actually the best way to do this is to Un-arm the track. Click the small (presumably red) Record button next to your audio track in the sequencer. This tells reason not to record more audio and essentially disarms the track. Make sure you have a sequencer lane for the echo and the automation is armed and red (the small round buttton that has a lfo/squigly line) press record and your set

@Crowmusicuk Do you watch these videos regularly? Propellerheads has always had a sense of humor about their products. Maybe it's not your cup of tea, but I think that you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Meaning, most folks would rather learn a little (or a lot) about a product and have a little laugh(even if it's a little cheesy) than learn a bunch and have it be dry and humorless. I applaud them and other manufacturers, like Mackie, who realize the value of humor.
