Sweden is one of the best countries in the world to live in. It has its problems like the weather, but compared to many other places, living there is one of the best places to live. It's even better than living in the United States.

Funny you should mention the weather. I love the cold and hate the sun, so the weather is a plus in my opinion. 😄

Thank you for great informative video. And you seem to think just as me about Sweden. As all countries we also have our problems. But when I think about my country and compare it to any other country. There's no better country in the world.. Yes we pay a lot of tax. But we get amazingly lot for it. And we have a safety net that thru tax cares for the most vulnerable in our society. Much love from me /J

- The cap on health/medicare is no longer 1150, it is 1300 Crowns. Also the cap for prescribed medication has gone up. - The price to see a doctor varies from what Län you are in. 200 is common but some places is different. - Transportation sucks, only if you are in a major city, it is good, if you live in a more rural town or the countryside it is not very good. - I would not say education and healthcare is free, it is not free, it is paid by almost extortive taxes, some of these taxes are named varies fees. Just to make people not really realize how much taxes they pay. It is not just the income tax. Income tax is paid pased on your salary excluding the social fees, the social fees is in fact a part of your salary/wage, but you dont see it. Then when you buy things, normally you pay 25% moms, which is similar to VAT/Sales tax, apart from food which is 12%. This is baked into the price, so many dont pay attention to what the real price is. Just for reference, I made a calculation for a friend of mines, common month. He is a regular worker in a factory, works 40h a week, changes shift every week. A pretty common lifestyle with a car to drive to work, regular Swedish habits and living alone. His total tax in a month averaged just short of 69%. Now, imagine if you have a job where you earn a little more than an average factory worker...... You will pay even more tax. - We do get a lot of benefits for our tax money, but also, a lot of the tax money is spent with, lets say, not very wise political decisions. - It is good that you mention that it is best to come here on a visa. We unfortunatly have a lot of unlawful people living in Sweden without a visa. Sweden has been pretty leaniant to these people in the past but the new installed government are just starting to make new measures and eventually, if someone comes/stays here unlawfully, they will eventually be kicked out, banned, and with a ban, you are also banned from the rest of the EU and ESTA countries, this includes not only EU, but Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and more. - One can get jobs without knowing Swedish, but not all kinds of jobs. And, it is expected that you learn Swedish pretty quickly. - Sweden has quite a high unemployment rate, so there are quite a competition for jobs. Naturally a person who is a national and speaks fluent Swedish will benefit from this in a competition about jobs which makes it more competative for an immigrant to get any of those jobs.

I'd say yes you can "survive" here without learning the language but it won't be as pleasant, since it's far more difficult making friends or getting a job. So if someone wants to live in Sweden and really be a part of Swedish society they do have to learn Swedish and learn a bit about social codes and culture, since they might accidentally come across as very rude making their life even more difficult.

Thank you for this video. Very usefull :) After few researches, it looks like that this "free choices" ideology has an unfortunately "bad side of the coin". I say that because criminality is also very high and there is a lot of unsecurity in Sweden. At least according to my researches, and comparing with countries like France, England or Germany. What is your point of view about it ? Except that last point, this country sounds like the right place for me.
@NnennaRG
@NnennaRG 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Guillaume, glad you found this video useful. There is criminality in different parts of the world. But when you say "a lot of insecurity", this will be dependent on the country it is being compared to (like you pointed out). Personally, I have not experienced or heard about so many crimes since I got here. I have been out late nights severally without any issues. But again, this is based on my experience so far.

I'm a Swede (but not living in Sweden, although my wife who is from a southern part of NG is... - anyway, it's complicated). Compared to many parts of Paris, criminality is low in Sweden. There's a great safety net, but it's also hardcore commercial outside of what's provided by the state - no minimum wage and other things (just wanted to dispel the myth that Swedish is somehow 'socialist'). And based on my experience from many other countries, I think that Sweden is striking almost the right balance (Denmark does it better, but not without issues).

I moved about 15 years ago. It was like Britain as it was in the 1960s. Unfortunately it has almost caught up. The tax system is a disaster for the country's economy and desperately in need of reform. The health service has deteriorated in the period, with long times to wait for an appointment. Still, there is plenty of space and ticks all the boxes if you like outdoor activities, and public transport gives good coverage. I suspect it would be hard to find employment if you were not fluent in the language, and even harder to find affordable housing.

There are, at present, almost one million people living as economic parasites in our country. That's the main reason our taxes are so high.
