I'm always impressed with the results he gets, and only after watching many videos featuring him, I finally understand a little better how he gets inspired and builds his beats. But for me, starting with a "mood" sample loop with a rythmic texture that isn't an actually laid down drum beat is crazy weird and not how I go about doing it. But seeing him do it, I think maybe I should try out approaching it how he does

@4:53 THIS is usually the trait that separates artist from everyone else. You have to have your thing. When you make music you don't TRY to be like everyone else, you get the mood that YOU FEEL and take it to the next level. I love dudes videos. Real Artist recognize real! Edit and he's right, it IS the mechanics. Whatever your mechanic is. Some is clicking a mouse on different keys on the screen, some is keyboards, some use different peripherals like the Nanopad 2... Mine happens to be his. i like doing melodies sometimes and smaller things on the keys but USUALLY I need the meat of the track to come out of those pads. It's that "mood" he was talking about. that "feeling" that traps you and takes you to the zone.
