Such a great video buddy. Good camera work too. I bought mine used and didn't inspect the friction disc. My disk is completely messed up. Still runs but could be better. Planning on ordering new parts soon and doing the work. Its a nice little machine. I was lucky and got my machine for 200.

Yes it is normal the chain sound but if you lube it with a good chain lube it stops the sound and the only chain adjustment is buying a new chain.

Just picked up one of these, for free, and it needs the friction disc and the brake cable replaced, luckily a new in bag brake cable came with it, and I've done quite a few of these, it's not an easy job, and you did great, why can't they make it like a rear engine snapper right, thanks for the video, I subbed.

Seems as though you'd get lube all over the friction disc spraying it on the chains like that.

It's a really good video but I'm afraid I'm going to have to give all the credit to the camera Man/Woman . wonderful job of shining the light in close quarters and the close focus . Thanks for your video. i have a question regards the chain. is it possible to tightening up chain? second question :-) is it common when you drive in third gear that it makes a metallic sound from the chain/transmission it stops if i lay only the weight from my foot on the clutch/brake pedal. Good day!!!! How are you? I watched your video and it's interesting. I have a problem with the gears on the WEED EATER WE261, someone was moving it and now the gears are wrong. When I put the lever in Neutral "N" (it goes in reverse) and when I put it in Reverse "R" (it stays in neutral). Could you help me solve this problem? Greetings and thanks!!!!

What size chain, I bought a roller chain but ended up too big and I cannot for the life of me locate the part.

I noticed did not lube the bushings for the shafts, Or any antisense on the axle shafts where the wheels go, would this not help wear.Also makes the next disassembly easier for the next time.

I got in all the parts and was working on it all day and it's much harder than you make it look. I cannot get the damn left side to align at all. You cut out all the good stuff. LOL :)

You are very correctly is the hole shaft have to be changes, it supouse to both side turn when turns wheels.

I had the exact same issue with the bushing on my mowercart 66(Same as the Weedeater one) I had mine from new, it looks like it heats up and fails and eats away at the metal frame, considering Ive had mine for 9 years thats the only part Ive had to replace!

CORRECTION replacement bushing is backwards @2:23 for a mowcart 66, if you install this way the chain will jump, I've installed a new bushing with the flange outwards without issue on my mowcart 66

He replaced it correctly, I'm currently in the process of rebuilding my tranny, that's how he bushings were originally mounted. I've also had mine since 2012 (and live in FL, long mow season) and had me 1st chain jump off about a month ago. Oddly, I've never lubed the bushings and both were in good shape, since they are cheap and I have it apart I ordered new one's.

Hi, I don't usually post, but... after many hours trying to figure out WHY the center Drive Chain (Primary) falls off is: On the left-most side of the mower, where the outside bearing 'supports' the 2 secondary drive chains, the "C" clip is MISSING! That allows the hole inside frame (that supports the Primary Drive gears) to shift about 7/16" causing Primary Drive chain the jump off!!! BTW, the Primary Drive chain = #35 roller; the 2 outside, secondary drive chains are #40.. IF you buy a Chain Breaker Tool (

Glad I didn't have that issue, I've been lucky I guess, the only things I've had was two of the frame welds broke in the engine compartment area, quality control issue with the manufacture unfortunately, Lucky for me I had a retired welder neighbor across the street with a little shop in his garage who took care of it for me, and the other thing was the plastic collar in the steering wheel stripped out, and I replaced it with a metal one. Other that that, it's been a great machine, going on my 13th summer now, the engine runs great, usually starts first pull, and the original friction disc still pulls like a champ!

Does anyone know if I can put a weadeater one rear axle on a weadeater smartcut? I can’t find a $7 transmission part because apparently they are discontinued everywhere and when I say everywhere I mean everywhere! And as far as finding a used one good luck! I own a brand new weadeater smartcut that’s been sitting in my garage for 4 years now! All because of a $7 part no bigger than a half dollar piece that was worn out in the transmission clutch assembly...everyone that I have talked to with this same mower has the same problem so they sell them for next to nothing! I paid over $800 and used one season and it started going slower and slower until it quit driving...weadeater came out with a technical bulletin saying if you purchased that mower you should weigh under 150 lbs and shouldn’t have any hills in your yard...I don’t have hills in my yard but I’m well over 150 lbs that’s for sure! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Did you ever find your part? I'm finishing up my 13th season with mine, and it's been a great machine, I love it. Early on a pair of frame welds broke in the engine compartment, my neighbor who was a welder fixed them for me. Other than that, had to replace the collar in the steering wheel and that's about it. Friction disc still pulls like a champ, and it usually starts first pull!
