@@EllenRuthSoap An idea for the tops: I take a multi colored/layered soap and make a thicker shaving by running my peeler down the length of the bar to get all the colors in one shaving and press them into the tops of the soaps, so it covers the “rustic” looking top with pretty confetti pieces😊

I have noticed that you don’t waste anything. That is just like me. It’s the decade we were born in. Waste not, want not. Infact Waste Not, I Want It! I even collect the tiny bits of soap that adhere to the silicone paper and the silicone mold. Then I add a bit of water and pulse it in the microwave. After time and cooking well, I clean it up and let it dry in the cup. This puck becomes my handsoap near the kitchen sink. I get to tryout my own soaps, long before the bars are ready. Waste Not At All! 😁 Hey that a sweet idea with marbles!

I love rebatch soap! I always add rose or lavender to my rebatch soap, either one pops up the fragrance and seems to go with whatever scent is in my rebatch. Like you I always add a few extras, the sodium lactate, because it's a humectant makes for a wonderful moisturizing bar. I always add a bit of mica as well as my rebatch is always kind of a bland off white color, ivory, is what I'd call it. It was fun watching you rebatch your soap, and watch the thought process you went through to make your soap. A really entertaining video to pass the time! Jill Gross

I DO love the term " upcycling" and this turned out as a lovely example of what can be produced from some bits and Bobs.. rather like a lovely braided rag rug or patchwork quilt. Somethinģ where the individual bits may not be much, but put them together and they're surprisingly pretty as well as useful! Definitely worth the extra effort of saving and then reusing. Just a nod to those who gripe àbout the extra container every now and again.yes! I'm talking about YOU dearest! It's NOT actually harming you up on that shelf and the only thing that would fit in that space would be *another tacklebox* which you *Definitely don't need!*

Call me crazy, but rebatch soap strongly reminds me of melt and pour soap. Maybe because the soap being melted down is a bunch of shavings from already cured soap. I keep thinking about this every time I watch someone work with rebatch soap. Anyway, great job as always and I bet this was a breather from the craziness with the Calamine soap from the last video!

Can I make soap dough with my shavings if I keep them in airtight bags? Or maybe vacuum seal them? Also, am I correct in thinking sodium lactate is essentially salt? I only ask because I added both to the rebatch (my first ever soap and first ever rebatch) so I'm wondering if I messed up. LOL! Edit: I'm an artist so colors are amazing to me. And I LOVE the gray color! Especially with the pops of color in the "confetti" bits! So new to soap making but my mind is going nuts with all kinds of ideas!
@EllenRuthSoap3 жыл бұрын
Your fresh shavings will be a bit harder than a true soap dough, but they are plyable and can be molded. I'm not sure how long they'll stay that way? Sodium lactate and salt act the same in CP soap, but the sodium lactate helps keep rebatch or HP fluid while it's hot.
@CarolinaGirlCreationZ3 жыл бұрын
@@EllenRuthSoap Ohhhh! Thank you sooooo much! I think I'll try the Sodium Lactate next time then because I still had some issues with fluidity.
