I’m a band new soap maker. Matter of fact I’ve only made 2 batches. I’m a little bit of an overachiever so I took on hot process goat milk soap. Both batches seized up. I did watch several videos on rebatching and dove back in. The first batch came out almost looking the same. Then I watched your video while the second batch was melting. You mentioned sodium lactate. No one else did. I ran to the pantry. I found a bottle of sodium lactate! My soap batch not only became fluid enough to get it into the mold but it came out lighter. I can’t thank you enough for your video. You were a soap saver!

This would be a great way to make some masculine soaps! Maybe use a dark/midnight blue or even black shade and a strong masculine fragrance oil that would easily mask any leftover fragrances from the scraps. Wouldn't even bother piping on top. Just a rustic, manly bar of soap. It's an idea 🤣

Thank you for showing how we can use scrapes of soap and not be wasteful. I remember my grandmother grating small dried bits of soap bars and melting them in hot water to wash woollen jumpers. We used a very plain soap and nothing was wasted in our house. Ps that colour is so pretty.

I'm glad this soap turned out. As you were spooning it into the mold, I thought, "Oh, no! She's made meatloaf!" I should have known you'd pull it off. The color changed to a deep figgy color as it dried, and it looks great. It's hard to make a rebatch look really good, but you did it.

I love the Victorian Rose color it came out. Beautiful! A tip perhaps, I add TD to my initial water to help lighten the batter, so when I add color, I get closer to what I am aiming for. I usually make whipped soaps with my scraps and then felt little animals around the bars, for the little kiddies. They're animals and they float and clean all at once. But love that you piped the top! Love these! 👍💕

Ellen Ruth, you commented, when you were adding coloring, that you could use some help, suggestions. I will say, you did a fine job! Rebatching seems to be somewhat about the adventure that comes with the process. I will share what I used to do with rebatched scrap soap . 1. I would add no color or scent. Make it into a loaf. Cut into chunks, squares or whatever shape. A) Then use in a complimentary new batch. Such as: a) make into mudroom soap bars, usually square or at least thick. These are great to wash hands, soap a rag to wipe off mud or dirt from boots. Or soap up a scrub brush to clean mudroom stuff, buckets, garden tools, etc. 2. I would make into coffee garden soap bars. Add thick dark instant coffee, for scent & color Or add scent & color to resemble coffee. Coffee grounds are a great addition. 3. Make into a activated charcoal bar soap color it gray, black, or other color with a swirl. Thank you. This turned out beautifully!

Last time I rebatched, my eldest daughter's stepchildren wanted some personalized soaps, so I gave them their choice/s...the girls chose "Elmo" molds and a hot cinnamon fragrance, but wanted it whipped...🙄 hubby and the one poor son of the bunch want something much more manly...so went with an evergreen scent and a a very light green, again well whipped, and THAT came out smelling like original Irish Spring scented with all the same tints of green and white streaks as that same original bar..and was sliced into squared bars, even better, having been whipped, they were allowed to cure for another extra 2 weeks given the weather gremlins that inhabit Southern Ontario...that particular soap rebatch ended up sealing the edges super well and DID actually float! Which all involved enjoyed, at least long enough to learn to get the bars out of the water and draining FAST! BECAUSE OTHERWISE IT MELTS JUST AS FAST AND QUICKLY DISAPPEARS down the drain...and despite Nanna's notes can't be easily replicated...so they were out of luck as far as replacement...🤷♀️😘 not intentional, but lesson well learned. And honestly, went a long way to keeping their natural grandmothers in a much less threatened frame of mind.👏👏🤷♀️🤪 and their natural MOTHER too. Sometimes being too good at the strangest things can wreak havoc for the oddest of reasons. My daughter actually thanked me for NOT warning them about the soap melting if not properly taken care of! I couldn't have, I didn't know either! Apparently "mom" was not entirely at ease with the new dynamic...and that was making for a few rough waves at times..between ALL members of the family.🥺
