I am abt to give up again, on Mind/Body stuff for pain and fatigue recovery ...I have had glimpses of pain free activity last few months, and now the pain is just driving me crazy again...It does not matter what I do activity wise , it just hurts more and more as the day goes on, even just sitting up, let alone doing "normal" things around the house or going out. When u start out with TMS stuff, u get glimpses of hope and windows of painlessness, but now after a whole week of pain, after trying to get back to exercising, I am feeling defeated again 😢😢I have had 2O+ years of this crap. How long can you keep up the hope.

I know it can be so very challenging and I'm so sorry for your struggle. 💚 Your glimpses of hope can grow! Keep following them and whatever brings you more peace and calm. That will settle the brain and nervous system, too, and the physical symptoms respond in their own time. There is hope!

Your story resonates with me. Like everyone else, 2020 was filled with major stress. Pandemic, political garbage, people refusing to wear masks etc... combine that with isolation, family working at hospitals, and culminating with a toxic reaction to an antibiotic after weeks of physical trauma and boom. The mind can only take so much before you are trapped in fight or flight. I now have pots, shortness of breath, cfs symptoms, and near constant anxiety. I'm sick of it. I want off this ridiculous train. I see that how I lived my life made me the poster child for this. Perfectionist, people pleaser, etc.... clamping down on my emotions instead of addressing them. Sheesh. I want off this ride. I want to live a healthy life. Emotionally and physically.

FreshAgenda, I so hear you and am very sympathetic. That's a lot of stress. As you see, it can send the brain and nervous system into a flight-fight-freeze state. But there is a way out! I'm so glad Sarno's approach resonates. I recommend his book The Mind Body Prescription, if you haven't read it yet. I'm coteaching a wonderful course on how to recover from these mind-body symptoms starting May 4, 2021. I recovered from CFS and my co-teacher recovered from POTS. It is possible! Feel free to reach out if you have questions. Thanks for your comment and know that you will be able to live a healthy life again. www.rebeccatolin.com/how-we-heal

@@ammanadeeb1162 I hate to hear that. We can get out of this. I'm better now than I was when I wrote this. I see the mechanisms in play here. I can do more, but it is like being in a long drawn out panic attack. Stay off Google and follow what Rebecca and those like her say. We will recover.

These ideas are exactly what some anxiety treatment modalities use such as the DARE program where you accept and allow your symptoms and no longer care about them, then paradoxically they disappear. Before I knew anything about CFS or long covid I had severe anxiety (POTS symptoms too) after a viral illness (walking pneumonia). Using "paradoxical" anxiety treatment (DARE, Claire Weekes) I recovered completely. In fact, it felt like a switch was flipped. I only suffered about 2 months before I found out what worked. Surely, this is what is happening with so many with long covid once tissue damage has been ruled out, but sadly most people aren't open to this possibility and in fact they get angry when I bring up the possibility.

How interesting Chris! Thanks for sharing more about DARE and your own recovery. A huge congrats for overcoming anxiety and POTS! We also see those as mind-body or neuroplastic symptoms in my work. Understanding the root cause, that there's no tissue damage or disease process, goes a long way in dispelling fear. Then, as you say we want to live our lives with indifference to the symptoms. I'm seeing lots of people with CFS and Long-Covid recover using this approach, and I work on a long-Covid clinical study through Harvard Medical Center. Some people are resistant to the suggestion but this approach (based on solid medical science) is starting to gain traction. www.rebeccatolin.com/blog/long-covid-recovery www.mindbodygroup.net

Rebecca, I first heard your story in your interview with Dan Buglio. One thing I'm always waiting for when i hear these digestive related TMS recoveries and specifically food sensitivities and all these diets, is details on how they dealt with food. I have for decades had a super sensitive digestive system, recently diagnosed with SIBO, which I know now is totally stress induced. I have so many food sensitivities at times it's extremely discouraging to know what to eat. I've tried virtually every diet there is. Plus I know it's TMS so i don't want to focus on trying to fix my gut. But 3 months into my recovery journey I still cannot ignore the backlash I get from foods, especially foods high in lectins. I just put myself back on a specific probiotic recommended for SIBO which I'd discontinued after reading Steve O's book. Did you abruptly return to a normal diet or did you do the work and gradually add things back into your diet as your digestion started to heal?

Hi Dee, I understand. your dilemma. Dr. Howard Schubiner's work helped me understand that it's our unconscious learned associations with food that creates symptoms, not the food itself (except in the cases of true food allergies, such as to peanuts). Every time, we think scary thoughts about the food or avoid it, that reinforces danger to the brain. Once I understood all these foods that tested positive in food sensitively tests were not dangerous for me, I added them back in slowly, one at a time, in small doses. You may get symptoms. It's important not to mind them much! (outcome independence). GI Doctor David Clarke says SIBO is over diagnosed and most of it is TMS. So you can use the TMS techniques (the book Unlearn Your Pain explains this well) and get over your food sensitivities. Also, as the nervous system calms down, digestion will improve. I hope this helps! 😋

@@deejanz3763 My pleasure Dee! Dr. Schubiner's book is a treasure trove. He has a great explanation about food and so many other things. As you eat the foods and remain indifferent to any symptoms, it will retrain your brain and the reaction will eventually subside! (given it's not a true food allergy but you would have known that earlier in life.) Bon appetite!

Rebecca, I believe and have accepted TMS to be the root cause of my wide array of symptoms. I know that my body is running flawlessly and that my brain is calling the shots. I am feeling safer in my body and in whatever emotions I am feeling. Fear is dialing down and I am seeing evidence that the Truth is sinking into my brain. The leg weakness/general weakness/off-balance are the most challenging symptoms for me. I guess I still have fear of falling and hurting myself. In your recovery, did you wake up one day with full strength? Or was it more like one day you noticed that your full strength was back? I have deep hope that I will eventually get to the other side of this. :)

Oh Lianne, I am so happy to hear your conviction that your symptoms are TMS! it takes time and practice to retrain the brain but it sounds like you are doing the right things! It was definitely not a sudden recovery for me. It was slow and gradual over about 8+ months, once I had the TMS lightbulb moment. But I was very symptomatic for 13 years so it doesn't necessarily take everyone that long. Keep going, Lianne... you will get to the other side of this! ❤️

I think the one thing that you all miss and I say this because I know I’ll not the only one and I’ve watched almost every single video from different mind body teachers is that people have had prior injury that caused this. It is not all waking up one day and all of sudden we’re dismantled or CFS as slow build up. What is not understood here and never discussed is the possibility that injury did occur and the body either didn’t heal well or healed and learnt pain. I think this is the reason many have a hard time fully believing this because every video is the same onset. “I woke up one day with xyz. Not all of us experienced this. Also keep in mind subluxations do hurt and doctors don’t even write those on reports and radiologists ignore it, So I guess maybe it would be helpful if there were some testimonies to different onsets and not just the processes of symptoms. Does the body really heal these issues and after it develops to TMS? Does inflammatory responses, pulling in the body, aching etc can that be that the NS clamps the muscles and pulls the spine out so it is TMS ? There’s a lot missing here of clarity.

@staceypollack808 I hear you! I highly recommend that you check out Dr. Howard Schubiner's work, such as his book Unlearn Your Pain. He explains that all injuries heal within 3 - 6 months. Remaining symptoms are caused by learned neural pathways in the brain. They're real, physical symptoms but the cause is the brain and nervous system. So we want to address the root cause rather than chase the various manifestations!
