Thank you for appreciating the band and their song! I'll write the translated lyrics down below in case you or someone else might want to understand a bit more. The song is called Fugitives. Lyrics (English) We are both complicit At least I know I run away because I love I need bloating Being awake like this It's a delusion of the damned As a residual effect I will always take the detour Your eyes will never lie But that white noise It's an alarm in my ears (Chorus) Don't be so cruel Look no further pretexts Don't be so cruel We will always be fugitives the two of us We have nowhere to go We are like a rough area Nonsense roads Religions for no reason How can we survive? (Chorus) Don't be so cruel Look no further pretexts Don't be so cruel We will always be We will always be fugitives the two of us (Chorus) Come on Don't be so cruel Look no further pretexts Don't be so cruel We will always be fugitives We will always be fugitives

It is certainly the best Latin band in history. In my country, nothing compares to the idolatry and passion Argentines have for them.

6:20 Gustavo is singing "don't be so cruel, don't look for more excuses. We'll always be fugitives." The song is overall about longing to be with this one person (you're madly in love with) despite all the societal obstacles that surround them. The way he sings makes you feel like you're the one he's singing it to, at least that's how I feel, lol Thank you for this reaction, Rebecca! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Love from Patagonia (Argentina)

@jesusmendi-newskin46683 жыл бұрын
He refers to cocaine, especially his own relationship with it. He has the habit of only sharing the moment of consuming with one person (there is a doubt of a double personality) "we are both accomplices, at least I know that I run away because I love" (at times he abstains, out of love for himself). "I need relaxation, to be awake like this, it is a delirium, condemned" (condemned uses it as a synonym for addiction, cannot sleep, and is tense / hard) "as a residual effect" (typical of cocaine) "I will always take the detour "(pun intended, I will take (does not admit discussion) detour (alternate / wrong way; septum detour) your eyes will never lie (the first thing that gives away is the look) but that white noise is an alarm in my ears (the White noise is a noise in the background, for example the rain, and it can be heard when the rest, following oneself, is silent. Cocaine enhances the hearing, puts you on alert) we have no gift to go (it is no longer quiet in nowhere) meaningless roads (hand and wrong) religions for no reason (religion is something that is done every day) how can we survive (look for a way to always have) do not be so cruel do not look for more excuses (always looking for the excuse not to leave her) we will always be fugitives (for doing er the wrong thing and for feeling persecuted)

Read song translations of this band, his job and legacy (of Gustavo Cerati) is amazing, the best latinamerican band for many many people... he has a peculiarity, his songs are something between sensual, erotic, platonic, like tales, give him a chance, try with this songs: - -Corazón delator (its based on a Edgar Allan Poe's tale) -Signos (someones said its a story where he fall in love with a mermaid) -La Ciudad de la Furia (a song of love between vampires but its so sensual) -Azulado (a story about a mature guy that fall in love with a young woman) -Nada Personal (a guy having "sex" with a plástic doll) 😂 -Persiana Americana (a voyeur) --Entre canivales and... - Canción animal (you Will see 😏) Sorry about my english... 😰 Hope you enjoy. Regards ✌️

@nicedoppy20773 жыл бұрын

You just found one of the Greatest Bands in the world!!! Soda Stereo... Singer Gustavo Cerati was a genius! His lyrics are amazing and smart. He was a virtuoso in many aspects... He is very missed ... Btw I am from Puerto Rico and he is one of the very few musicians I would give a 10! You can find influences of U2, The Police, ASIA, The Cure and from many of the greatest bands, but he makes his songs feel like a tribute , because it is always so faint and almost unnoticeable and beautifully done... It was never sampling, but you can hear the influences! The man is a legend and it feels like is alive , because his music is liked by all generations... It is like impossible not to like those beautiful, difficult masterpieces.... Feel free to listen more from Gustavo Cerati and Soda Stereo. You won't regret it... (but Not Spanish speaking people will miss a big part of its greatness!!!) He had it all!

I did not understand what he sang but I didn't care. That was a great rock song. They sound like U2 to me. Long live rock and of course metal. Also long live huge hugs to Rebecca from across the pond. (Sugar Tots). As always take care and be safe!!!

Thank you for appreciating the song and the band, I will put the translation of the lyrics down below in case you want to understand a bit more! The name of the song is translated as Fugitives Here are the lyrics: We are both complicit At least I know I run away because I love I need bloating Being awake like this It's a delusion of the damned As a residual effect I will always take the detour Your eyes will never lie But that white noise It's an alarm in my ears (Chorus) Don't be so cruel Look no further pretexts (excuses) Don't be so cruel We will always be fugitives the two of us We have nowhere to go We are like a rough area Nonsense roads Religions for no reason How can we survive? (Chorus) Don't be so cruel Look no further pretexts Don't be so cruel We will always be We will always be fugitives the two of us Come on Don't be so cruel Look no further pretexts Don't be so cruel We will always be fugitives We will always be fugitives

Soda Stereo, and later Cerati solo, they always had this way to create blends of music and sound that created this sea of feelings, like mystical ambience. I went to a gig in Mexico, and it was amazing. I wasn't even a real fan, and didn't know much of his music back then, but it was awesome.

Interesting! I have seen that you have been doing analysis of Latin artists, but seeing Soda Stereo on your channel is a pleasant surprise. The band is considered cult in Latin America, especially in Argentina. Just mentioning Gustavo Cerati, Zeta Bossio and Charly Albert refers to 3 geniuses who literally made a hole in the ground. With the passage of time the changes and the separation of the band came, Cerati had a good career as a soloist and they had several reunions with his former bandmates until the unfortunate stroke years ago that had him in a coma until his death in 2014 . I would recommend you En La Ciudad De La Furia, Signos, Persiana Americana, Cuando Pase El Temblor, De Musica Ligera, Zoom, and Ella Uso Mi Cabeza Como Un Revolver. Fun curiosity: the band The Police looked for Gustavo to offer him the position of guitarist Keep it up and greetings from Honduras Rebecca

Greetings from Chile! You've just listened to one of the best bands ever. The best latinamerican one. Soda Stereo is magestic and Gustavo Cerati was incredible. "Prófugos" is one of the best known song in latinamerica 'til this day and it's a 70's -80's band. My mom used to hang out listening to them when she was a young student.

I think the best reference of Cerati's voice is in " Corazon Delator" high-level music. If Cerati was born in an English speaking language he would be a top legend as bowie, queen, or guns n roses

I was lucky enough to be present by chance in a small pub in Buenos Aires called Zero Bar, the very day they played for the first time for an audience (a very small one too) Must have been in the early 80s. I was BLOWN AWAY and I knew right away they where going to make it BIG! By the way, listening to this song together with you, I notice, Gustavo has very much of Robert Fripp in his guitar playing. I totally love it. I also love your reaction to it. Thanks for listening and sharing your reaction, Rebecca! ❤❤❤

Hi, one of the backing vocalist in this show was keyboard player Leandro Fresco; great "ambient" electronic artists and terribly underrated pop singer, at times his voice sounds a little like Cerati's. There are many other great singers in our pop/rock scene: Federico Moura; Spinetta; Miguel Abuelo; Celeste Carballo; Luca; Baglietto....
