The 6.2 only has 25hp more than the 5.7 does. The numbers don't support the basis in their explanation of the reasoning. They wanted extra coverage of the 5.7

A Tesla Model X may get 96 MPG-equivalent because electric motors are way more efficient than internal combustion engines, but its 100 kWh battery is equivalent to having a 3 gallon gas tank. I suppose a corollary for "there's no replacement for displacement" would be "it's hard to beat the immensity of gasoline's energy density."

Nah, the Raptor hasn’t always won. It did lose against a normal F150 crewcab with the 3.5. Raptor is much heavier than a normal F150. I bet a 2020 F150 Limited with the 3.5HO would probably give the TRX a run for its money as far as drag races on pavement is concerned. Can’t wait to see what Ford has up its sleeve for the 3rd gen Raptor.

It’s cool, but all FCA does is take motors from the Scat Pack and Hellcat and put them in other vehicles. If Ford could put the 5.2 from the GT500 in the F150 or GM put the LT4/5 from the Vette/Camaro in the Silverado it would be a very similar result.

I'll have to admit, that was pretty awesome. I would've liked to have seen the Chevy with the 6.2 agaisnt the Raptor. That would be close. The Raptor actually did better than I thought it would do against the TRX. If I'm not mistaken the regular F150 with the H.O. 3.5 is a little faster than the Raptor. I'd also like to see that truck against the TRX. It would still lose, lol, but it would be a good race.

@Jim Cherry Exactly. And the Raptor will make short work of the TRX offroad. My 2017 is much lighter with beefier shocks than the TRX, and still has trouble with the big hits*. Not gonna be pretty for the TRX. *Even got a video on it, search "stock raptor suspension dynamics"

@@T4nkcommander In the videos I've seen about the trx, the suspension looks to be performing well. Do you think most people buying either of these will ever even take them on a dirt road? No! They like to be able to say, "my truck can do that". The trx is much better for that type of consumer. Better top speed, better acceleration, better sound, and better interior. Either way, the trx was DESIGNED to be able to take big hits and jumps, Bilstein is arguably a better company than fox also. The raptor may have beefier shocks still, but the trx has better springs, diffs, and axles. The raptor still uses leaf springs, which are not known for being particularly good offroad.

You’re also watching an 1/8th mile race. The second race he jumped the start in the Raptor and still lost. Make that a 1/4 mile race and that Raptor gets smoked. Watch TFL’s other videos. They do a 1/4 mile timing race and the Raptor loses by more than 2 seconds. There’s nothing close here. As stated in this video, there’s no replacement for displacement.

@@T4nkcommander Yes you have used YOUR raptor offroad, that doesn't mean other people do. I also think you overestimate how difficult the baja 1000 is. All it really takes as far as vehicles go, is good suspension, and enough power to make a decent place. The trx has both of those. I think Chrysler will eventually run it in the baja 1000 if fans ask for it anyways.

I get the power numbers are impressive but throwing the same supercharged V8 in everything isn't innovative. 700hp is more than 99% of people know how to handle, let alone on 35" AT tires. I daily drive 450hp and will tell you it cannot be used to it's potential in the loose stuff. And why are we taking the most "offroad" capable trucks to race them on a couple hundred feet of asphalt anyway? Put them on a trail or in the desert where they were intended.

I love the Raptor but the sound that it’s exhaust Makes belongs on a sports car not a truck. That alone would keep me out of one. The TRX is the better truck all the way around imo. Most automotive magazines agree with that sentiment as well.

I own a 2012 mustang 5.0, 2019 mustang 5.0 PP1, and a 2019 raptor supercrew with custom bedrack for off-roading. Trust me, the v6 sound of the Raptor doesn’t belong on any sports car. It’s horrible. But up until recently, it has been the king of trucks on the road. It performs amazing Offroad for the money too. I’ll get the gt500 raptor if Ford releases one. I’m so happy dodge came out with the TRX. It’s the only time Ford ups up their game. They always wait for competition.

The GM 6.2 @ 420 hp ,GM 5.3 @ 355 . RAM 5.7 @ 395 . The 6.2 is closer to the Ram in HP. But I get it. That is the truck you have. Just splitting hairs lol

The difference in weight will be even more apparent offroad. Smaller shocks and more weight is not a recipe for success when high speed offroading.

Weight is a big difference. If they up the HP in the Gen 3 Raptor to 500 you'll see that gap close even more if not over the TRX.

@@JC71444 agreed. All I can say is that the trx is absolutely amazing but before we can call the trx the new off-road king it must go through the gauntlet that Ford did to it's engine. Sending it to Baja and wining and a few times coming close but finished the race anyway. I'd love to see the hellcat engine take that kind of punishment and survive knowing how much the hellcat is sensitive even in not so rough roads with no mechanical work other than an oil change like Ford did with it's 3.5 Ecoboost. I'm not a Ford fanboy because I really like both trucks a lot I just need that verification.

@@raionshishi8290 exactly! But I do hope that the new model raptor doesn't come standard with the Ecoboost engine. I hope there's an option for a 5.0/6.2 or a new version of the 6.2 would be interesting as it would open a huge window for modifications and high sales for Ford. I'm also hoping chevrolet can supply something to compete with these two beasts because it's staying behind or perhaps it's a strategy and they're letting Ford and Dodge fight so they can suddenly pop out a off-road built truck.

@@TheSigbreaker I think you underestimate the 6.2. I have a 18 model with the 8 speed. I’ve raced a 2 wheel drive single cab eco boost and they cant pull past me past 60 it just falls on its face. Same thing with the crew cab 4 wheel drive configuration. They are about a half truck length behind the whole time.

It's not 20k more. Just comparing to apples to apples, it's more like around a $8,000-$9,000. A base Raptor, which is around $54,000, is a lower spec Supercab, something like an XLT Supercab, and it doesn't include anywhere close to the same equipment levels that even a base TRX has. You don't even get power seats or full leather trim in the base spec Raptor. You'd have to jump up to a Supercrew with something like a 801A package and tick a few other boxes to get the same features, which bumps the price up to around $64,000. A base TRX would put you around $72,000 All in, a loaded Raptor is close to $83,000. Loaded, a TRX would put you about $92,000. So, it's more, but you're still getting more. There's nearly 60% more horsepower in the TRX and is built on a TRX specific frame. There's probably a few other features and difference that might explain the price difference. It's not like you can just buy an Ebay tuner for your Raptor and get the equivalent of a TRX. The price is justified.

You guys should drag race the 7.3L supercharged F250 that was in your channel a while ago. And the ford f150 Limited with the raptor engine. I think those 2 are the only trucks that stand a chance against the Ram TRX.
