Guys, be very careful when screwing in the bolts for the saddle bag supports onto the frame, they strip very easy. I noticed when i took them off, once side came out easy the other had to put some effort. i might have to replace the entire Left frame as those have the holes for the saddle bag support, seat and rear cargo rack. I doubt it can be re-thread it or take the chance and put lock tight and hope for the best.

Just learned the bag supports and bags are made by SW-Motech. The supports are their SLC supports, which are made bike specific. SW has the SysBag system of 10, 15, or 30L bags, the 10 and 15 of which fit the SLC triangle mount and also the legend series in black/brown or black/black. The legend series are basically a roll top like the Honda bags. The SysBags are a semi-rigid bag. Plus their Urban ABS bags come with the SLC mount integral. Check them out. Any of the SLC compatible bags also fit the Honda supports.

I think this might be an ideal setup. I don't think it'll look quite so nice with all the stuff on it but way more practical. Just got my passenger seat and pegs in and came with zero instructions... couldn't even find any online! Had to figure it out myself... Take off the seat and remove the storage bin (2 Phillips on the bottom and 2 pin release clips holding the plastic detail pieces, these are fake Phillips so be careful). Unclip the module from the left side and then reach underneath the frame bar and push the pin release clip holding in the plastic cover. Work around the cover until it's off (use your replacement cover as a reference for where it's clipped.) Un-bolt and put the peg bar into place and re-bolt with the same screws. Fenagle the replacement plastic cover into place (there is a notch hole you can line up you can see from under the seat area) and put the pin lock screw back in. Reclip the module to the new plastic cover and reinstall the under seat tray. The other footpeg is a no brainer and just replaces the bolt holding up the factory exhaust.

Good tip! I'll look around for those bags to see if I can find some with the right dimensions. I'll probably upgrade these bags for the SW-Motech SysBag 15's to give me more space... and the semi-rigid shape will look better than the flaccid balloon appearance of these Honda bags. 😉👍 --QM

I have the lockable leather Viking bags. I really dislike them. My bags are on my Suzuki Savage. The features seem ideal - waterproof, strong Velcro closures front and back, leather, lockable, snap closures on the outside that can be secured further with a padlock. Why do I loathe these bags? It takes great effort to get the buckles unsnapped and then more effort to separate the industrial strength Velcro, and the tops don’t stay open. When they close on their own, the Velcro re-sticks,. requiring another great effort to separate the Velcro. Closing them up is equally frustrating because snapping the buckles closed isn’t easy, like the strap is a little bit too short, especially on the kickstand side where the bag is lower and harder to see the buckles. I need a 3rd hand to make getting in and out of these bags easier. I prefer my dirt cheap Amazon canvas throw over bags over these Viking leather bags. Good luck with yours. I’d at least choose something without the buckles.
@MissyMalaprop2 жыл бұрын
@@GwenMotoGirl I don't really like any leather bags... I was referring to the hard "bags" they make that are not bags at all, but hard containers that open with a hinge and keylock, they just leather coat the outside on some models for looks, but you can get them in shiny or dull plastic finish too. I did end up putting them on, and they are great.... viking doesn't actually make any that work by default, so have to do some custom fabrication to make them mount.

Great looking bike! That main seat looks different. Is the main seat a replacement of the original and if so is it an OEM seat or other brand? It seems to be taller as well.
@QuasiMotard Жыл бұрын
Thanks! That is the Honda "custom forward" seat from their accessory catalog ($99 USD): shop.powersports.honda.com/p/custom-forward-rider-seat-black . It has a more prounounced bucket that keeps the rider planted in the seat, and it's supposed to push the rider about 1" forward. I don't notice the forward push as much as the deeper bucket. This "custom" seat feels better for blasting around town and commuting, but I find that it focuses too much weight on my sit bones for touring. I switch back to the original (flatter) seat for touring, and I top it with an AirHawk Cruiser Large seat pad for more comfort: amzn.to/3Ll1Dod . That combo lets me ride for hours with minimal butt fatigue. So far, my longest day on the Rebel's saddle was 1263 miles in 19.5 hours: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opXTaKSmpbiIjaM . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

I got these on my Rebel 500. If n when I purchase the 1100, I be taking them off. I just purchased, the SW-Motech mounts and 13.5 l saddlebags (legends) for my Meteor 350. The mounts are identical and have tried the Honda bags on the Meteor, and the SW-Motech bags onto the Rebel. Both fit, and click into place😊 In hindsight sight, I could have just purchased the mounts for my Meteor, and used the Honda saddlebags. I did a small video. Re scribed as the powers, must of unsubscribed me

Legends bag. But you mentioned this at end of your video. The Honda has a very useful carry handle. SW-Motech doesn’t. So am gonna use some waxed cord, and purchase a Velcro handle.😊 Love the look of the 1100. 😊
@QuasiMotard8 ай бұрын
Agreed. I like the Honda bag (still made by SW-Motech) for its handle and easier closure mechanism. The Legends bags are quite fiddly with the triple clasp-loop mechanisms. Unfortunately, both of these bags fall flat in terms of waterproofing... they are DEFINITELY not as good as roll-top drybags. I might try the SW-Motech SysBag WP series because they are reportedly "true" rollbags with waterproofing. I'm not sure how well the SLC adapter plates will work with them (might be too wide), but it's worth a shot. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Nice bike. You are happy with it? You like the DCT?
@QuasiMotard3 жыл бұрын
I've been riding "normal" motorcycles since I was 6 years old, and the DCT is a welcome change. The DCT's shift points are very good, and they happen when I would do it under most circumstances. There are a few circumstances where the computer will downshift unexpectedly or will hold gears too long. There was a brief learning curve to adjust my riding habits to work around those quirks... otherwise, it has been great! The rear suspension has been the only real letdown for the Rebel so far. I have adjusted the spring preload to minimize the harsh suspension action, but I will eventually replace the rear shocks with aftermarket shocks that are fully adjustable (preload and compression/rebound damping). Cheers! 👍 --QM

I know a few other Rebel 1100 owners that have the LS bags on their bikes. You should check out the channel @OnTheRebel11 to see a similar setup for that idea. The factory exhaust is the limiting factor on the right side, so you might consider upgrading to the Coffman's Thunder exhaust ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoqXaWBjlJalo9U ) or another aftermarket exhaust that gives more clearance. You can use any of the SW-Motech SLC-compatible bags or the Honda-branded ones (also made by SW-Motech) on the Rebel as long as you have clearance above the exhaust on the right side (might need to use a smaller/shorter bag unless you upgrade to a shorter aftermarket exhaust). 😉👍 --QM
