Yeah I liked X-Play, well the first I wanna say 3-4 seasons? The episodes where Adam and Morgan's set was a small, comfy looking room before they upgraded to that big studio. Yeah, I literally had zero clue who ANY of the people onscreen were. And my thoughts were, "people like to watch a group of idiots scream at nothing?" Never heard of any of those people, and I'm keeping it that way. How fake would you say that show was? I'd say it was about a 9 out of 10 on the fakeness scale. Possibly the most cringeworthy "gameshow" that was on TV. It looked like how gamers are portrayed on TV shows, when they show off games on a sitcom or something, or when you see people in a movie playing something. Or, like Pan showed, a clip from South Park, (which is my favorite cartoon ever), where people are just crowding around them, screaming at 2 dudes playing a game with a plastic controller, pretending that they're rock stars, when they're just 2 kids playing a game for fun. But unlike South Park, that Polaris thing was just annoying as shit, and also, South Park is just a cartoon show not meant to be taken seriously; and just watched for fun, and Is pretty much the BEST show on TV right NOW. Both had to have significant edits/changes (especially Naruto) I mean who thought that was a smart good idea?! who thought those would/could work on those channels?! i remember seeing this block when i was younger, it was fun! also my first real introduction to e-sports. i knew they were a thing but i had never actually seen them before. Parker Plays was probably my favorite show, the novelty of a normal youtube let’s player given a tv budget and airing on tv was really intriguing to me for whatever reason.

Also, chemistry is important. Take GameGrumps for example, two guys sitting on the couch talking, making jokes, laughing playing games and just having a good time (unless it's Battle Kid or the black night when there's raging but it's still hilarious) because there's good chemistry. Just putting a bunch of random people in a room isnt going to work.

The aftermath: Parker Plays stays, with rarely few occasional esports/tournaments w/o the D|XP branding but using the "latest" 'General audience program' bumper. Tbh, I was that guy who watched the Smash Bros tournament on the channel, and the Nintendo World Championship, and boy were there glitches, especially on the first week. Actually, the block and even the DXD channel itself was glitchy by late-May of that year. Fun fact: for Smash Bros Tournament there were audio issues on the SAP (2nd audio used for Spanish). In the first 5 or so minutes you could hear nothing except for music of any clips being played, something the audience. It was fixed really quickly. Also, since DXD is an ad-supported network like CN, some cable providers in some areas added their local ads (i.e your provider ads, that local event/store that you think it's that good it's on national television but it isn't) during matches, runing the moment. It happened twice or 3 times before DIsney fixed it. Apparently some engineer forgot to disable the locals breaks timestamps so most systems thought ads were being played. Also, they messed up the SAP, made the SD signal to 16:9 forced, and stuff no one cares about knowing during that Summer. Oh yea, and during DXD runs, they would sometimes be a "SIGN OFF" program slot just to be replaced by an automated run of Phineas and Ferb, with generic ads/shorts. Pretty sure DXP won't come back, just like Disney XD's other failed "mature" blocks. If no one recorded those shows during its run from the TV or from their site, then they'll become lost media overtime.

And currently the channel plays mostly Parker Plays with only a 4ish hour block mid day for DuckTales and a longer block at night for DuckTales, Amphibia, The Owl House and reruns of Gravity Falls.

As someone who works in the sports/esports world, usually how breaks work with a network is you have a producer counting out someone from master control who switches over to break. I'm surprised Disney had issues with that considering they own ESPN and probably was using the same facilities for transmission. The tournaments were probably just picked up last minute by the network and the people producing the broadcasts were unaware of how it all works for breaks and didn't fit it into their show structure or anything. Live production will always have glitches though

The only show I actually liked and still rewatch is Parker Plays and at least Waypoint has a good concept for a documentary. Two shows are still regularly featured. Around 9PM on Disney XD, they still sometimes feature Parker Plays and Polaris: Prime Time. Since I was a young teen when... this started, I’ll give my opinion on these two shows. Parker Plays is your average PG rated gamer, but with a few differences. Think DanTDM with less personality and way more pandering. The thing that I dislike about is two things. First, they have random different games alongside actual long games played. For example, here’s what an average 22-minute episode’s schedule would look like. Tattletail, Agar.io, Tattletail, KZbinr’s Life, Tattletail. Why would they split a single game up so much? Second, the production value isn’t put to use. Imagine if every time a game commentator said “Imagine if this happened” casually, then they’d have a five minute skit featuring CaptainSparklez about this scenario. Now Polaris: Player Select. While it is more than a clip show, it’s not worth the extra effort. They heavily edit sections. Instead of getting KZbinrs to give them more of the content they already do with a higher budget, giving the editors the right to edit how they please, they take low-res videos of KZbin videos already available for free and censor and edit them badly to be “funny”. Why edit it if people were completely fine with it?

That screen you showed at 18:00 was Heroes of the Storm Draft. Alot of thought and consideration goes into drafting/banning certain heroes depending on the map. As for what the game it itself, it's Blizzard's "Baby's first Moba", which is fine since it cuts the fat from MOBAs and goes into the nitty gritty of what makes 'em fun, which I like personally, as well as the cast of Familiar heroes from Blizzard's franchises of Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, and even older titles like Lost Vikings. The reason it was on that screen is because both sides take turns in locking in their Hero, they have to consider Hero synergy, map synergy, as well as the map's objective (which is what makes HOTS different from other MOBAs), as well as what Hero to ban from the match, meaning both teams can't select that Hero. To explain it all better, there's a map called Braxis Hold, where teams fight over two control points to charge pens full of feral angry aliens to swam the other team's buildings and shit. Some heroes can counter that swarm easily by having abilities to "wave clear", or kill a bunch of things at once, such as a wave of Green demonic fire, or a rolling rock of fire, or a swirling circle of fire. Those kind of heroes on that kind of map is very powerful, so the other team might consider banning those types of Heroes, knowing it means THEY themselves can't pick that Hero either. tl;dr The game is Heroes of the Storm.

DisneyXD actually had a show with a few youtubers a while back. as far as I could tell it was just random clips from preexisting videos, only difference being how highly edited they were. they had quite a small catalog of youtubers they used, probably cause they could only get a few to sign the contract. Most of the KZbinrs on the show were unnoteworthy and unrecognizable, although they somehow got ahold of Markiplier on the show EDIT: ok just watched the full video, he already mentioned it :/
