They were soldiers....it's strange but I understand these brothers. There was a spirituality to their being together, it was shortsighted of course. But it was experimental I think. Maybe they thought that they couldn't embrace all Black people, but they could practice embracing themselves. So that eventually they would grow to love all their people. Did they ever mature to that stage? Maybe not, but neither did old Church Negroes, neither do a lot of Blacks.

Food was so much more plentiful in prison back then police stopped that cuz they ain't want inmates getting bigger than them

Rebo was even trippin on Crips becoming Muslims. Me an Rebo had conversations afterwards but I put my boots on to get down with him in Wayside. It was 1990 doing Double life +5 Years.. I was from the 97 East Coast and Rebo did not like how my interest in Islam was pulling me away. We exchanged words after he complained about the noise as we rapped beating on the bunk beds. He swung on me (glad he didn't connect, the boy was on triple swole.) I was a tall skinny brotheron my way to the Penn. I couldn't be weak. Rebo said, " Cuzz, roll yo shit up!." I said, I ain't rollin up shit.!) And Crips that knew us both squashed it. At court, they had us in the tank and he gave me my props but laughed about how after I was gone for court his homies would joke about going to get Thumper. It's funny now, but I never felt like an underdog in a head up situation till then.
