@buddycraigg It's a great series, way easier to follow than written instructions. The importance of the JBWeld was the only thing that threw me, but if I just followed your instructions I would have been fine. :) Post-JBW, mine still Sander-izes if I raise the lights with engine off, but otherwise no problem. The Dickman kit mentioned to put the "flat" side of the bumpers in a particular orientation. Never could figure out what that was about - they're just cylinder shaped best I could tell.

I just want to elaborate on the point he made at 1:40 The rubber bumpers that come with rebuild kits seem like a good idea - I used them myself in spite of this video, not realizing the downside. Learned the hard way they can cause the dreaded "Sanderson effect" that he describes in a later video. The motor needs to hit a sudden stop to trigger the limit switch, and the rubber bumpers mess that up. A weaker motor (like mine) won't have enough momentum to hit the bumpers hard enough.

I will give you one of the metal gears, but you have to pay for shipping.

Could you not just use a wire brush to clean the teeth on the metal gears? Either a hand one, or a wire wheel on a bench grinder.
