I have a couple motors at work designated as emergency spares. They were pulled for noisy bearings, and put back on the shelf with new bearings in case I need one. They're reserved for low stress areas. The new motors go into the spots where things get destroyed.

Very interesting Greg...one vote here for the electrical schematic video when you get to it. Thanks

You missed a part, a very important one at that. The rotary shaft seal from the head of the motor. That is what, I believed, caused the water the go to the bearings after the mechanical seal failure. Also greasing everything with non water soluble grease goes a long way in terms of preventing a future problem.

I would have needed your skills to read a schematic yesterday: after moving the fridge, the power lead was pulled of. I opened the cover to reattach the cord and was very surprised to face a rat's nest of wires. I had a tiny schematic, all written in Thai! I manged to figure out that all the red wires should go together to one lead of the power cord, and all the grey one to the other lead. But man, I was really unsure of what I was doing!

Greg, Pump it up! (LOL) I've been interested in electronics and electrical stuff since I was a preteen. I know how to read schematics and wiring drawings. When I serviced professional woodworking machines, most were made in China or Europe. The conventions on their wiring drawings are totally different from what I was used to when I serviced direct mail equipment (US made). I used to carry repaired control boards, motors, etc. for the reasons you stated. Some places ran 16 or 24 hours a day. Thanks for the video. Have a good one! Dave

Hi mate. I don't know for whom those bloody ceramic seals were designed for but I have seen several of them that have leaked into the motor. They are a pain, but are wonderful for the replacements pump sales. A lot of pool pumps are also using them.

You would think they would orient the pump below the motor for no leaky along the shaft?
@vernmitchinson79337 жыл бұрын
You mentioned that the drain hole was on top so I am wondering if rotating the pump housing 180 degrees would put the drain hole on the bottom?
@Volcker19297 жыл бұрын
Vern Mitchinson it could put the motor leads in an impossible to connect spot.
@Halligan1427 жыл бұрын
Yup. There's a bracket that bolts to the motor then that gets screwed to the wall. The motor sits between two panels and the leads need to go through a hole into a connector

Hi Greg, have a hoshizaki am50bae ad is not making ice, look at the control board it ok; noticed that the water doesn't get up to the ice chute. Pump motor is the next step but to get it out; do I need to remove the ice chute from the top down to the water tank? Do you have any suggestions? Any help will be awesome

I have this motor in my store and need to replace the bearings. Where can I find them?
@balisticsquirel7 жыл бұрын
If you do vending machines, maybe you can help me figure out what i found. I scrounged a bunch of parts from a metal scrap yard which must have come from some or other vending type machine. Iwaki bellows pumps; an impeller pump similar to yours but smaller; and this other thing that i don't know about. It's a stainless steel cylinder with two piping inlets and two outlets (not shared, ie two separate flows) and two wires running into it. Plus one drainage nipple. Otherwise entirely sealed. Maybe 10" long and 3.5" diameter. Oh, and it has what must be thermocouples bound to the outside of the cylinder which the wiring goes through. I figure the wires will be to and from a heating element inside of the cylinder? But is there anything more to it than simply being a water heater? Like could it need both water lines flowing when on in order to not fry the element? Does one line exchange heat somehow? Is there a name for this thing? Cause i can't find them in google searches using the terms i can think to try. Cheers.
@tom76017 жыл бұрын
balisticsquirel Probably a coffee/hot chocolate vending machine. The cylinder would be a tankless water heater. Just guessing.

I am Working on a Hoshizaki KM 1300 MRH Model that Beeps 2 time a second. Cleaned the float switch was all crusted up with scale, Also replaced 1 txv. It was leaking and letting out hot gas or cooling it off During the harvest cycle. Works fine during the day but at night after closing the store it will shut down and beep till mourning and the customer has to reset the board. have charged it with 10lbs of R 404a, Checked the thermocouple not shorted or open. Any advise. Thanks in advance.

That thermistor has to reach 48 degrees to trigger unit to come out of defrost. If that suction line temperature fails to reach that in 20 Min or less 3 times in a row you'll get that code. There could be a couple things going on. The thermistor itself could be bad and not reading correctly, you could have a low refrigerant charge, hot gas valve may not be opening all the way, ineffecient compressor. Grab the tech pocket guide for 404a units. You can get a printed copy or find it online. It will give you resistance readings you should be.getting at specific temperatures from the thermistor. It will also give.you some.basic pressure readings you should be seeing during all phases of ice production. Also give a quick read over hoshizaki tech tips vol 149
@2davydo6 жыл бұрын
@@Halligan142 OK thanks. i have downloaded the entire book from the site and printed out the part with the resistance readings. Also the part about the dip switch settings. was thinking if changing dip sw 1@2 to on on the board if that would help.

I can’t get the hosh water pump apart, can you describe your method. Thanks
@Halligan1426 жыл бұрын
You'll need to clean the face if it's as corroded as the one in the video. Take a razor and find the seam in the face. Use a nice penetrating oil like kroil on it. Tap on the rear shaft with a brass hammer where the cooling fan mounts to and you should start to see it move. Besides that everything else is in the video.
