Thanks for the video Bill! I definitely like the tech tip of removing the control area to gain better access to change the water valve. Will definitely be using that one soon I'm sure.

My company uses hoshizaki cubers exclusively so seeing a nugget machine was nice. Thanks and good repair!

I remember when I was a teen, eating at a restaurant, they had the cover off of their crushed ice machine and it used a vertical drum, water ran down the drum and froze, then a lawnmower reel blade came motoring around and cut the ice off. I could watch that for an hour!

The water components looked surprisingly clean, I wonder if it was recently serviced and a cleaner removed some built up scale from the fill valve that in turn exposed the wear issue. I don’t see a lot of cubers with augers in my area, just a few flakers here and there. Good video, thanks!

You may be right, over the last 4 years Ive worked on less and less ice machines for some reason, one day ill get back into the swing of things and be able to understand the cause of some of these issues
@jeffrobison20134 жыл бұрын
the nugget machines work just like a flaker except they have an extruder on top the ice is forced thru to make the nuggets. I was self taught on the old scottsman flakers from back in the 70s. I had 3 of them i rebuilt and used for several years.

Those water valves operate like low voltage irrigation valves do. That solenoid moves a needle that allows the water to leak down stream which the existing water pressure then is able to push the diaphram open. De-energized and the needle is pushed back in place preventing the water to bleed through. The water pressure then fills up the back side of the diaphram which equalizes water pressure on both sides of the diaphram. With the help of the spring adding just a little more pressure it forces the valve closed.

I don’t work on ice machines that often but it is kind of fun when I get the chance.

Is the water inlet filtered? Could be just crud from the incoming water supply.
@curioushvacguy68765 жыл бұрын

Hello got a question can you get a certification on training and working on ice machines how do you go about get information and what websites can i look for i find a few similar out of state im from michigan looking for one here im in hvac/r class refrigeration can you give me some pointer
@curioushvacguy68764 жыл бұрын
Hey Lone wolf- Ive heard of a really good Ice machine program put on by CFESA- I believe that is in North Carolina. The othere option would be to go to either Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, Follet or Scotsmans factory training programs- these usually are free if your a warranty provider, if not then you would have to pay. Ive been to the Manitowac class and it was really good- I would recommend going to that class first then Hosizaki. Hope that helps
