Said the rings are worn out is why you're getting blow by could be the cylinders worn out or the person that you bought it from could have cheaply replaced the top in by just putting rings instead of replacing the piston and having the cylinder bored out to the next size piston cuz the city I live in is pretty big more than a million people and nobody cuts cylinders here they have to send it out to another state

I would’ve liked to’ve seen a Compression Check after the new’ish top-end was assembled & brief break-in. we’d be able to measure the gain, though it sounds great to my Ear Meter. we can’t effectively manage what we can’t measure. there’s still time…that info could benefit those considering this product, etc…

I used a niche piston in my trailboss 250. Compression was at high 60s, took apart the top end piston and rings were shot and there was a pretty good scratch on the jug. I had got the quad for less than $400 so didnt want to put too much into it. Ended up keeping that cylinder Bought the niche kit for like $40 compressions at 102 now so not high but high enough to start run and drive. Ive probably only put like an hour or two on it but its running and personally because of how easy it was to swap (took me under 2 hours) i would buy again but basically only for testing purposes. If i was going to take a long ride id swap to a wiseco. Cast pistons are too hit or miss

The main issue with these "kits" is the wristpin bearing and piston are crap. They are prone to premature wear and when they let go they take out your cases leaving a much more expensive fix. Not to mention casting flaws. Cases for older machines are getting harder to come by for this reason. Not saying these kits are all bad. Typically it's the installer and a tuning issue.

How do you compare the trailblazer to the ATC 250r? I can’t find a ATC 250r for sale in my area so I’m thinking 2 stroke dirtbike or a trailblazer.

2 stroke rings dont float.they stay fixed by the pins in the piston grooves.i would think ring gap would be irelevant.

Most rings come pre gapped on top end kits but it’s always a good idea to check.

They still need room to expand at the ring tips, sometimes you have to file them a little to make the gap correct. BTW he did not check the gap the proper way any how, need to square the ring in the bore with the piston skirt not by eye

You buy a knock off piston with a ton of bad reviews to save $20-40 dollars.. But when it shatters or throws a ring and blows out your cases, or ruins the cylinder and heqd bare minimum, you will be wondering why you did that. Take a lesson kids DON'T SKIMP OUT ON MAJOR COMPONENTS AND BUY CHINESE MADE PARTS FROM THE 10 YEAR OLD USING RECYCLED METAL TO MAKE THOSE PARTS IN CHINA! And its better to have too much gap between the rings (you lose a little compression) but too tight of a gap and you will blow up the bike in short time as the bike heats up. Your supposed to file the ring end until your in proper spec if the gaps too small...
