Rebuilding a Wrecked Yamaha R6

This is my first wrecked rebuild. It’s a special edition Yamaha R6 #14of1500! I’m really happy with the way it turned out. I will definitely do more projects like this in the future. Subscribe!

I’ve got the same bike. Sold it, then recovered it after the buyer wrecked it stopped paying for me. I also restored it to as original as possible. I’ve decided now to do another makeover.

You could just bondo the gas tank and sand it carefully to match the contours. That's what I've done with gas tank dents before.

I would really recommend you to get some more expensive clutch and brake levers asap. Getting fairings and cosmetic parts off of ebay or amazon is okay but any kind of performance parts you should buy from a reputable source. I've seen those cheap levers fail a lot, it is not something I would recommend anyone put on their bike. You can get amazing levers for around 200$ and it will make a lot of difference and you'll have a peace of mind.

Check out this stuff it’s hard to find they have it at your local Napas It’s called permatex Paint stripper sprayed on 10 minutes later take a hose in it all comes off including the other paint

Thanks man! I didn’t really keep track of my hours but if I had to guess maybe 6-8 hours? The fairing kit fit really well I think I only had to increase the hole size on two pieces of the fairing.

Rear fender looked atrocious lol Decent job, I think taking parts off the bike (forks, swingarm etc) to clean them would help do a cleaner job and also make better content. Cool to see her get cleaned up tho👍 Sad they prayed over those beautiful fairings

Thanks for watching! I agree! There is a long wait for them tho… took a little over three months to arrive. I just ordered a new fairing set for a different bike and the wait time was the same. The quality is decent, not OEM but overall pretty good!

It looks nice and you did a great job considering what it was when you first got it. However, you used really crappy Chinese parts and I’m not talking about the fairings. Steering, levers, brackets, shifters and pegs should be quality especially if you are going to be riding fast, hope nobody hurts themselves.

I wondered the same thing. But I don’t think the 2012 model R6 had a chipped key. From what I was told the people who stole it destroyed the ignition to start it. So that had to be replaced.

Akrapovic stainless steel header with A Akrapovic titanium megaphone slip on. Baffle was left in, tones it down slightly. Without the baffle it’s not fun to go on long rides haha.

What the riding season like in Alaska?

April to September is usually the riding season sometimes early or later depending on the year. Summertime there is A LOT of riding/riders. It’s fun to take a few hour ride, my favorite place to ride to is Girdwood from Anchorage.

Theres a lot of reasons why the bike won't start. does it at least turn over? if so, just remember you need spark, air and fuel to get it to start. With my bike someone incorrectly hooked up the starter relay. bike would start for a second and then die.
