I love the new video style and your growing collection too.😍 I have never officially experimented with a ban per se, but I have intentionally reduced the number of physical copies I buy. Right now, I find that I am more inclined to buy books that I have already read digitally via Kindle, Libby or Everand, if I really loved it and would like to own a copy. But sometimes, if I am convinced that a book is right up my alley, I go ahead and buy it anyway, because physical copies will always be my favorite format of consuming literature.

Tysm! I’ve been really enjoying experimenting with different editing techniques ( and just going with the flow), so I’m glad you noticed. Unlike you, I think this long period of book buying ban made me less averse to audiobooks/ebooks (and so, physical books don’t have the hold they use to on me). But I’m slowly getting back to that.

The first shot of this video is everything, adding majority of these books on my Goodreads as I want to read more African literature in 2025.

Girl! Do it! African literature is so diverse and rich! Even if you don’t get to them now, it’s good to just have them on your tbr Ps: thank you for the compliment on my first shot! I’ve been experimenting with different shooting styles these days

I actually love the idea of the book buying ban… it will reduce impulsive buying and FOMO tendencies
@thatothernigeriangirl13 күн бұрын
💯 for me, it’s been very helpful with FOMO - and also just with detaching from owning books (which made it easier for my heart not to break too much when I had to move)

The fact that it’s written by a south Sudanese in Arabic, and translated into English? This is why the book first caught my attention too. Apparently she’d grown up in Khartoum before Sudan was split into Sudan and South Sudan.

I have never officially gone on a buying ban but the Nigerian economy has forced me into one on several occasions in a way it has helped me because I no longer buy books on impulse or just because anymore
@thatothernigeriangirl10 күн бұрын
This is why I wished we actually had better public libraries in Nigeria. Because at least that would fix access issues. Do you have access to anyone’s abroad Libby? Or you still use Everand?
@inbetween_books10 күн бұрын
@ yes I still use Everand once in a while and I still have your Libby details but I haven’t used it in a while sha
