I had to replace the primary drive gear. I’m in the middle of doing so right now having troubles putting case back together the star shaped shift sprocket I don’t know what position it needs to be put into prior to closing case with gasket. Can you help?

I just replaced my final drive gear, put back together and now seems like shift linkage is off, and when I do shift, can't find park or low range...if I take linkage off find park but still no low

Don’t worry about not being a gear head, best way to learn is by doing, lots of people just pay to have this stuff done, and they won’t have the respect for it that the people that did the work will! Keep up the good work.

Mine is a 17 I recently got with 500 miles on it and is sometimes hard to shift into low or park when it gets hot. Otherwise seems fine. How much do you think my local repair shop (not a dealer) will charge to fix it up like yours?

I broke the shift on my 17 X3 XRS, I was able to pull my trans without pulling the motor by using ratcheting straps around the motor. It was a bitch but I could do it pretty quickly if I had to do it again. Also the replacement fork was noticeably stronger, definitely irritating that it happened.

I think I did this to mine also. Doesn't go into gear, slammed into get twice, then it would not go into any gear.

Question.... would your shifter function normal? Moving into all gears? Or was that stuck also? Mine is acting up now in the cold weather. Trying to get a hint here as to what may be going on with it.

@@ewindfeld9735 I moved mine I to the garage and let it warm up for a bit. Cleaned the belt housing out and cleaned the weights in the cvt. I also checked the fluids and everything seemed fine. I've only driven it a few times since, but seems to be fine again.
