Think the front grill would look better black with the letters same colour as the body, as usual another outstanding video and attention to detail 😃

Windows should be fitted from the outside for security reasons. When fitted from the inside they can be pressed out from the outside leaving your truck vulnerable. Well done your doing a great job!!!

When that truck is finished it'll be so clean and smart that you won't dare to take it outside in case it gets wet

The glass is probably finished, but if not, the best lube to use is tyre fitting goop!! Grill, black with white lettering, imho.

If you haven't fitted all the windows yet, old rubber loves silicone spray. That stuff gets into rubber and makes it more playable.

Well done to both of you. Super satisfying to see the shiny panels and accessories go on and very happy that you got the glass in withought cracking it or much swearing (possibly edited out!) very glad you're still enjoying the pasties - I hope they brought some respite from that bloody awful weather! Keep it up you two - it's the home stretch now. I hope to start up my car for the first time ever between Christmas and new year. Definitely very nervous! Merry Christmas and look forward to following along in the new year.

Ah, good luck with the car start-up, Guy. Hope it goes nice and smoothly. Yes, the pasties have been fabulous, thank you so much. Wishing you and the family a very happy Christmas from a stormy Cornwall, and much good fortune for 2025 🎄😊

Having been a vehicle glass fitter during my career, i would always advise people to employ the services of a professional glass fitter to fit the various glass as they would have the job done so much quicker and with less risk of damage to to the glass and the rubber, leaving you to work on other areas of the vehicle. Also, I would suggest the grill should either be painted the same as the main brown body colour or black with maybe the Bedford logo in cream, at the moment i feel you have too many different colours on the vehicle, otherwise a great job, well done.

That’s really interesting because we always think we’ve got too few colours on the truck 😆 … wait until the sign-writing goes on 😉 It would indeed be sensible to get a pro glass fitter, but we’re doing everything ourselves (probably why it’s taken us 4 years so far, hehe) … but if you want to pop round sometime, we pay helpers in pasties and tea 😊

Looking great you two! I can't recall if you've given the vehicle a name, but she puts me in mind of a "Lilly." Also, I don't remember much detail, but I've seen people soften and restore rubber with Simple Green on KZbin. maybe by soaking it...
@OldRopeSalvage
@OldRopeSalvage 3 күн бұрын
A really useful comment this for anyone else reading 👍🏻👌🏻 We did soften/restore the rubbers with sandblasting, washing up liquid and heat, but the simple green is probably the most effective. I think Tim was just happy that he managed to reuse the rubbers at all because they seemed trashed when we took them apart. We’ll see how we go with the other ones 😬 We DO have a name, “The Siren”, but not 100% sure if it’s a keeper. Maybe “Brown Lilly” can be a contender … reminds me of the Cornish “Brown Willy” 😆😆😆

Hi again if the window seals are hard soak the string/rope in petrol and wind twice around the seal grove leave to stand for 10 minutes before installation

I like the grill FWIW.... Excellent effort on the glass. A thought (esp. for handling the windscreen) would some heavy duty suction cup handles be useful for maneuvering it and holding on to it? I suspect that might be the biggest issue with the screen. Anyway - another epic video -- Truck is looking great! Merry Christmas!
@OldRopeSalvage
@OldRopeSalvage 4 күн бұрын
You’re the second person to suggest suction cups, so yes, watch this space definitely. That front windscreen is massively heavy. A very happy Christmas to you and your family too, Chris 🎄😎

The grill has to be the same cream as the roof and other components. To add a fourth colour to brown and cream panel work and gloss black chassis and running gear would detract from the overall scheme you have now.

With the OE white grill fitted it makes the front of the vehicle considerably more visible to oncoming traffic. As you know I do classic landrovers and a galvanised front bumper makes them stand out much more than something in black or a dark body colour, such as yours.

😂😂😂 Dude, it WAS really HARD! Rubbers were super hard and rigid due to the age of the rubber. SHOULD be an easy job, absolutely … but wasn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️
