I always appreciate your honesty and straight forwardness. I frequently see you making, doing, crafting new ways of bush crafting which makes it more fun, cool, sweet and enjoyable to us to learn from you. Your items and damn good methodology techniques of achieving your goals are stellar. You even barrow ideas and often improving them with putting your twist on things while you give graciously credit to the original individuals that share their idea with you. That shows your humble honest and kindness personality. I hate what youtube has done to you and others. All the Very Best! Jim Rodgers

I used 2 forms 1) is potassium pro magnate and glycerin is exothermic 2) calcium carbide and water. The wetting of the calcium creates hydrogen.

An excellent video. Another simple trick is to rapidly rub paraffin on sawdust. This creates a simple fire-starter. Then you can use a lighter or Farrell rod to ignite the mixture. BTW: I have made a simple "canned heat" for years by melting paraffin and mixing with sawdust or woodchips. I pour the mixture into an empty tuna (or similar) can. When it hardens, it's a great little "oven." The flame last long enough to cook bacon and eggs and make toast and/or boil water, etc. I make a wire handle and put through two holes on the can lid. When finished with cooking, snuff out the flame with the lid. (Careful: the can and wire will be hot for a while.)

I use 190-proof Everclear in my alcohol stoves. Expensive, yes, but also medicinal and if it ever does leak on my stuff it just evaporates away and doesn't leave a mess. It also doesn't dump a lot of soot on my pots and cups.

Yeah, don't sleep on hand sanitizer as a fire starter generally. It's a good thing to keep around, and one definite advantage it has is that if it's a little windy or wet, you'll have much better luck getting tinder lit with that than otherwise because it gives you a little bit if an edge. Additionally, the alcohol options are a bit more clean burning than chemicals and plastic. Another thing that might be worth trying is alcohol prep pads. They are the same level of alcohol needed for disinfection as hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol. They are great to have around to disinfect phones and small surfaces, but it's a ready-made saturated pad to take and hold a spark.

👍👍👍 .. a great share. In addition to the extremely useful tips given, another Gem was (to this effect) 'people from urban areas thinking that in a SHTF situation, 'they are going to run out and go survive in the woods'. That fallacy is light years from reality. Many You Tube 'experts' survive on pushing that dream. Household items .. 'stuff' usually kept around the house. Something that should be kept around the house (a Survival Expert from the 70's / 80's) .. the common wooden match .. 'thousands of them'. Properly stored, they can last a very long time. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..
