Stellar pickups as usual! Search for the new land is my fav Lee Morgan album as well. I’d pick Night Dreamer over Speak No Evil though. Can’t wait to see the grails.

Thanks man. I thought you’d be jelly of Speak No Evil, but the Bill Evans is killer too. ~Jason

Jason - missed you! Glad to hear Covid is in the rear view mirror for you now. The fact that you were in the Jazz Basement for 3 days and did not play a record says everything - not fun. Loved seeing your latest pick-ups, I admire your focus and high standards! Thanks for the tip on the Basra record, I must keep an eye out (for a reissue!). Greetings from London.

Btw, I was able to find a promo copy of Elvin Jones “Heavy Sounds” on impulse. I have been wearing it out! If you are not aware of this record stream it. I think you will like it.

@@TheJazzBasement Question: are promo’s always og first or did they also make promo for repress’s? Love your channel except for one thing……not enough videos 😊
@TheJazzBasement2 жыл бұрын
I think most promos are from the first press as giveaways to radio stations and other influencers at the time. That said, I do have one or two promos that are not from the first press era. So I guess anything is possible! More videos to come I promise! ~Jason

Hey brother! Great to have you back and glad you're feeling better! Nice lineup. And I have you to thank for my own OG copy of DG's "Our Man in Paris." You encouraged me to pull the trigger when I was digging on a trip to Florida and stumbled across one. Seemed a bit pricey but a few texts with you allayed my fears. Love it! Thanks again for all your help and encouragement in getting me going on the right track with my slowly growing jazz collection. Now we just need to get you 58 more subscribers so we can see all the other great records!! Cheers!

Hi - here are some that I frequent and typically have good to excellent jazz selection : HR Records Som Records Joint Custody DC Record Exchange of Silver Spring On any given day they can be hit or miss depending on what you are looking for. But over time they are where have the most success for quality jazz.

Great finds! I am so jealous that you live in an area that collections like that can be found. The only records around me are classic rock, country, and religious records….sad to say no jazz ! What kind of ultrasonic system do you have? Homemade, degritter…etc…. Are you happy with it? I have the kirmuss system…..not for sure if I like it yet. Just curious. Mark
@TheJazzBasement2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark - Yes DC is awesome for jazz, it’s crazy to see what ends up at various shops etc. very lucky in that regard, nah I would say spoiled. I have a degritter….I love it. It’s expensive, but I think I’ve gotten my money out of it. I also looked at the Kirmuss. Do you use a surfactant? That really helps the process. ~Jason

Hey Jason! Glad you are feeling better my dude. Yeah Rona can be a bitch . I just got over being sick myself . As far as the bar goes I completely understand. My take now is if an album is very loud I'll do solid vg+. If it's a quieter album I try to go for higher. Bill Evans Undercurrent being a perfect example. I'd be interested in the Blakey potentially. I've needed a copy of that album for ages. Congrats on the Shorter! That's very high on my list. As far as the wear goes I'm going to DM you about what you can do to clean that front cover up. Welcome back!
