Gidayyy 😜Marlaina, well that looks like you had a good day at the river, some pretty nice looking chalcedony,carnelians & agates, some interesting quartz pieces and then boom, a group of great looking jaspers, wow then follow that up with some possible artefacts. I should have started with looks like you had a great day. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

Thanks! The day did not disappoint. Probably one of my favorite trips to the river. Can't wait to tumble that deep red carnelian🔥 Cheers and best wishes✨

I think you picked the right place to go pickin'. Wow what an assortment. Beautiful carnelian and jaspers. I see cutting, slabing and cabbing in your future. I think the two artifacts have been worked. I think the small one is a knife and the large one knife or skin scraper. What a productive and hopefully fun day you had! Keep the goodness coming. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒

Oh I wish I would have captured more of this place for you. It was such a fun day. But I had to cross the river to get to the "good spot" and it was too deep to risk my phone... so my friend held onto it and managed to catch a few shots of me haha. I appreciate you watching as always and thanks for the info... I think those are in my top 5 of the coolest treasures I've ever found... mind blown. Have a great week✨

Cool finds! I think you're right on the broken arrowhead and I think the big one is a scraper. They used them mainly to scrape the fat layer and gross stuff off of the hides to be dried out for blankets and clothing. Very awesome! Thanks for sharing Marlaina!✌️🤠

Marlaina your finds are awesome ! Love the glow on the agates. Jasper in your area is beautiful. Got to love the pet wood. I also find rocks that I question, hmm are you a artifact or just a chipped up rock. If one only knew for sure ! Thanks for sharing 😊👍

Thanks Cheryl! The agates were even glowing in the water... Like a little beacon... Here I am! 😄 It was so cool. And it wasn't till I got home and was cleaning my finds when I realized I might have found some artifacts. Still not 100 but it's going on the shelf of possibilities lol. Thanks again... It's good to hear from you! Cheers✨

So many cool finds but that possible arrowhead looks way too big, but definitely worked! maybe a large spear point? Not sure, but definitely an artifact, and the other looks like maybe a large scraper or preform. Its not work to a sharp edge but it could be just worn down. The man to ask is ontario rockhound. He knows points! And the rest of your finds are really cool. The agates and jaspers are awesome but the pet wood steals the show in my book! So cool!
@MarlainaAtkins2 жыл бұрын
A large spear point😃.... I didn't even think of that. I can totally see that! Thank you so much for the feedback... My knowledge on artifacts is slim. I appreciate it so very much. I just can't believe I'm holding something so precious... imagine where it's been and with whom... and what it's gone thru... Just amazing! Cheers🙌

@@MarlainaAtkins Thats exactly what i think of when i see any artifact! And same with fossils! Thats why i love fossils so much and why pet wood is my favorite! Millions of years that it took for a tree to become a rock! If you havent heard from aiden already from ontario rockhound, i let him know about your artifacts and asked him for help. I hope you dont mind!

Awesome finds, for those peices that you think are artifacts I can confirm that the 2nd peice for sure is one, it's a scraper, and the 1st peice I think is one too, flake tool, but flakes like the 1st if they are found in creeks you have to take them with a grain of salt as that chipping could occur by the flake tumbling in the creek, but the 2nd is a foresure artifact!

Okay, I am jealous and envious. The artifacts have too much pattern to be made by nature. The first one looked like it would be used to process the game because of the curve and the second one looked loke a scraper. I plan on going to the Rock and Mineral Museum in Hillsboro in the next two weeks maybe they can give me a positive ID on them
@MarlainaAtkins Жыл бұрын
I agree. I know the river can do some work on stones... But these seem too precise and intentional. I'm always up for a more experienced opinion... Thank you for your input. I would love to hear what they say too. Appreciate you checking it out! Cheers✨

Nice finds Mar, love the carnelian. Ive been working on pyramids and will start having a ton of scraps perfect for tumbling. Ive been thinking about making 20 dollar bags for tumbling. I did well with the sapphire bags i put 2 sapphires, a ruby a bunch of good garnet and quarts crystals and some kayanite in each bag for 25.
@MarlainaAtkins2 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea! Do it! Would love to see how your pyramids turn out. I need a flat lap SO BAD!!!

So beautiful... I just wish I didn't have to travel so far to get it 😆 lol I'm still learning so much about artifacts... Figured I'd better throw it out there and see if I could learn something 🐺🐾
@Ken_G.2 жыл бұрын
If the first one is, it could be a broken spear head or a scraper that is missing just a little bit off of each end. That second one is a reach, I'd say no. Pretty rocks though.
@MarlainaAtkins2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ken! I'd have to say I agree with you... the more and more I think about it I'd have to say no with the second one as well. I appreciate the feedback. Have a wonderful week!✨

The two "artifacts" appear to be scrapers. Definite signs of flaking/chipping on the edges. They appear to be re-worked pieces that may have begun their lives as blades.
