If it's not a cover, she writes all her songs herself. She is a singer, songwriter, producer and composer. And of course, this is not a cover. The song even has a story. Actually, all their songs. That's why the lyrics are always important. The story behind the murder song. Aurora wrote this song after reading about a "murder" in the newspaper near her homeland or it was a book. Not quite sure. A man killed his wife/girlfriend out of love. She was seriously ill and suffered more every day. He released her from suffering. The song is sung from the perspective of the woman's ghost. Maybe he killed her with her consent (I hope so) or he made the decision on his own. You will only find this explanation of this song in one interview with her (unfortunately I don't have a link to the interview and I can't find it anymore). It's not written anywhere else. And usually she doesn't explain her songs that specifically either, because she wants everyone to find their own story in them. She usually only says to the song it is a true tragic love story that doesn't end well. It should be said that this News/book was an inspiration for this song. That doesn't have to mean that the song itself is about it. But since it all fits together, I think so. Of course, it is written in such a way that many interpretations are possible. Just like Aurora actually always does. To the countdown. Some people say the "killer" is counting down. On the contrary, the song is sung by the victim all the time. For me that means that she counts down herself and than her boyfriend pulls the trigger. And she knows that he knows that he kills her for mercy. That means they both know. Sounds like an agreement.

You have touched the tip of the iceberg with this petite powerhouse. Aurora's brilliant writing on a range of deeply serious issues is amazing for someone so young. Her exquisite vocals and charismatic stage presence make an unbeatable combination. There are different aspects to Aurora's personality and her image on stage has changed over time. In this 2015 concert she is a shy teenager, in the 2017 Nidarosdomen concert she is an ethereal angel, in the 2019 HAIK concert she is a free forest spirit, in her own "general" concerts she is fun loving, cheeky and full of energy and in the last few videos of recent songs she is more worldly wise. Above all, Aurora is genuinely unique.

At the age of 9 Aurora made the song "Lucky" after been very disturbed when heard about a suicide. From early age she used to set her self in the main persons situation and try to find the best solution or explanation with a song.. Try out Auroras "Lucky" (Live in Nidarosdomen) A masterpiece of beauty and performence in my poin of view.

Aurora loves Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen....... Auroras concert in Nidarosdomen is mindblowingly fantastic.... I would recomend Through the eyes of a child first.... Or Lucky (written at 9 years old!).....

Aurora was a little bit obsessed with death as a child. She Lives through all of the emotions when she sings, every time. If you watch her live performances, you can see when the audience starts clapping, that it takes her a few seconds to snap back to the present. She always looks surprised when the aplause starts.

It is her own song, the background from the song is that, she read a book, about a man killing his wife in which she was suffering everyday, so he shot her to end her pain... which really is a tragic but love. I'd love to see you react to runaway at the Nobel Prize as well its amazing.

I cannot understand how a young girl, now a young woman can...or I should say could write such powerful lyrics. From her very first song...Puppet ...I am in complete awe of her poetry. Awakening, Infections of a different kind, Home, Exhale Inhale etc etc.... Let me not forget Dance on the Moon, Soulless Creatures..... Her poetry is unmatched by today's singers, Artists, Bands etc etc. I can only compare her to a cross between Dylan ( not my favorite at all) Neil Young and Bowie. The topics she addresses and the words she uses to convey the message is beyond what a young person should know. A young person with an old soul some say.

She is as vulnerable as finely spun glass and as strong as high carbon steel. Her art rips you apart and heals you at the same time. Who does that? Her art is almost too intense to bear, but you can't look away. She is a siren in the form of a wood nymph. Resistance is futile!

Hallo, thank you for your reaction. Yes Aurora is special. Her movements with the arm to express her emotions. - Her angelic voice in "Through the eyes of a child" live in Nidarosdomen. In the biggest cathedral of Norway (I think) - the acoustics is phenomenal. - And her very important song for these times "The seed". It's her Earth Song. - The song "Why did you have to go?" - she wrote it for the funeral of a good schoolfriend that died on an car accident. And she sang it only on the funeral. So my informations. She wasn't going to release this. The mother of the girl uploaded it to YT to share it. She was 18. It's very very emotional. - She wrote also a fantastic love song "Exist for love". You see - there are many sides of Aurora you have to see to hear and to enjoy. Greetings from Germany

And yes she is not only a singer but also songwriter and producer + very interesting and unique personality. She has so many great songs (hope you will react for more) and also great covers. I would recommend some of my current favorites (although hard to choose favorite Aurora songs) f.e.: - Lucky live from Nidarosdomen - All Is soft inside life from KEXP 2018 - Soulless Creatures live from Bergen 2020 (or official lyric video) And many many more great ones:).

Hi reckyj I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Aurora live twice and at my age of 65 I’ve seen many artists live in concerts and I can honestly say that Aurora is the best live performer I’ve ever seen, there were times that she held everyone in the palm of her hand as she took you to the very place she was singing about it was if you could see what she was seeing, there were also times that she was so shy as if she did not realise how good she was,but the one thing that is without doubt is we are witnessing someone very special her songwriting ability is outstanding filled with deep meaning that makes you think deeply about life and the world we live I would go as far as saying she is a Genius, enjoy your journey and stay safe and as Aurora might say “let love conquer your mind”❤️🍎

Aurora was raised on Cohen, Dylan and Enya. This is definitively one of her best performances and a superbly written, heavy song. It stands out because everything comes together at the right time. Still, it's far from the heaviest song on her repertoire, in almost any direction of heavy/dark you can go... Just to keep your interest up. Maybe you should try something light next, though? Or do as Aurora herself suggests; start getting to know her by the song "Runaway" which she wrote at 11 and was featured as first single on her first EP and album. Odd Martin Skålnes is great on guitar, but especially in duet with Aurora. I usually prefer those versions to any other. Aurora and him plays Runaway first, on this excellent tiny desk concert: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6elmH-Nhtx0fKM The version from the same Nobel-concert you just saw, is probably most popular: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJSaiYqNlKqbmJo or the official original music-video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpCrnYOYpLGFgpo She has many great covers, but she's foremost a music-writer according to herself. Many stand out as singles, but in context they are really extraordinarily meaningful and groundbreaking. Which she adds to, as she has become a performance-artist and educator.
