Recky, so many people dismiss Home Free as "those country guys" and will never take the chance to even listen to them once. I even heard one reactor say he hated this because they weren't "country" in this one. These guys are all college educated and have degrees in music theory & such. They are SERIOUS artists, and this is that serious artist part of them on display. They can be taken seriously as fellow artists finally.

Hate is a really powerful word.. I don’t like that. Home free has their own thing going on. And I can’t understand why people don’t like it. Sure it’s country. But that’s not the point. I see talent, love for music and excellent production!

@@Reckyj exactly but some people just don't understand or like it, if you stray from their narrow preconception of what you should be, or act like & they get really offended when you do. I failed to mention before, this video, was Chance's kinda coming out video as he was involved in the concept & production ideas. He is such a greatly talented man, and glad he joined Home Free in 2016, and he has only made them BETTER in my humble opinion. This song was also the b-side on Crosby, Stills & Nash's 1969 hit "Marrakesh Express" one I recommend if you wish to react to a "retro" song...it's upbeat and one of my favorites from my childhood (I was born in 1960 right here in Miami)

Recky, until recently, I considered this video as the gold standard of HF's A Capella harmonic and artistic expression, just above their videos of How Great Thou Art, and Auld Lang Syne. But I believe they even out did themselves when they did the upgrade to Mark Knoefler's of Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms. It is only available in audio so far, and no idea when the video will come out, but is is on their new Land of the Free album. For me it is platinum level A Capella artistry and simply jaw dropping with their intricate arrangement and harmonies. I hope you give it a listen and react to it as well.

It’s one of my favorites. Their harmonies are so good it makes the song. They have a number of songs that show their tremendous harmonies. Yes, they can be silly and have fun but they can also be serious too. This was done by Chance (the baritone/bass) who started the song. He filmed it in black and white which lends itself to the tone of the song. Try Auld Lang Syne, Seven Bridges Road, One Man Band. Lots of their Christmas music is so beautiful. (Angels We Have Heard on High is one of my favorites). Good reaction!

@barryanderson3910 2 жыл бұрын
@@Reckyj The song almost certainly references the American Civil War and draws parallels with the present (at least in my understanding). The lyric says "I think about a hundred years ago, and how my fathers bled." The song, I believe, was written around the early 1980s, and anyone listening back then would probably think of the Civil War (1861-1865). Nowadays, 40 years or so later, someone hearing the song for the first time and thinking back a hundred years may not get the reference. Hence I said maybe it should be changed to 150 years ago. You've got a lot of enjoyment coming if you've never heard CSN before this.
