a majority of the fans like both equally. It's mostly because the songs they cover don't usually overlap. No harmonica...no instruments at all with Home Free. Adam Rupp is often called "A Freak of Nature" and "sounds like he swallowed a drum kit"....there are several solo videos (taken by fans at a concert so no copyright issues) where you can see his solo part of the show while the guys take a break.

Austin Brown (singing most of the lead) spent years in college (on a music scholarship) learning to nullify his Georgia accent. When he joined Home Free they told him to stop trying. He can still quell it to a large degree but if you want to hear it uncensored, watch the video of his original song "Earn It".

Home Free has a very deep song book. Their cover of John Mayers "In the blood" is exceptional, as is the cover of "How great thou art". They seem to like to have fun even if it is at their own expense. If you want some goofy, try their "Butts Remix". If you like a more theatrical bent to your acapella music you can add in Voiceplay to your reactions. PTX are the student body governors, Voice Play the theatre rats and Home Free are the tailgate party in the parking lot. They are all extremely good and extremely different. Check out Voice Play arrangement "Moana" featuring Rachel Potter. You won't be disappointed.

I don't really personally know many Home Fries who also like Pentatonix, and I know quite many all over Europe and the US. It's not because we don't think they are talented, because they are all incredibly so, but because their style of music and arrangements aren't appealing to us. It's nothing against them, it's just a matter of taste. Next time they go to Sweden you should come! They love it there because we all sing along! 😁 When they do this live they use a looper for some of the background sounds, which they record live during the show, and Adam and Austin do a vocal harmonica duet. Great reaction! Thank you!

No harmonica - all voice. If you watch a live version of this, you'll see that both Adam (the beatboxer) and Austin (the tenor with most of the melody in this one) do a vocal "harmonica" duet. And I agree with several of the other commenters - check out Adam Rupp's drum solo - they're all fabulous, but since he's constantly learning more, pick one of the more recent ones - especially since the newer ones have his Michael Jackson bit in them! Just subscribed. And I personally love both Home Free and Pentatonix - have seen both of them live.

Don't worry about your swearing (screw the folks that are saying something) and don't apologize for pausing. It's your channel. Do what you want. Although Voiceplay and Home Free are cool about reaction videos (and I understand that PTX has talked to their label), you need to do what you are comfortable with. Hahaha yeah that’s Adam, the beatboxer, doing the harmonica, drums and other noises with just his mouth. You should watch Adam Rupp drum solo on youtube to see how talented he is. He sounds like he swallowed a drum kit. Tim, the bass, has a 5 octave range and so he can sing tenor also (not kidding). They are all talented. Chance was doing the mouth harp sound in the beginning and the end. This was filmed in S. Alabama…lots of gators in the south. Home Free and PTX both won their seasons on the NBC show the Sing Off. They are friends. Both are different groups and I love them both. Try Helplessly Hoping, End of the Road, What We Ain’t Got to hear more great harmonies. You don't have to pause Home Free videos. PTX is terrible, but HF and VoicePlay reactions never get blocked. Six months ago, Petra (also Swedish) reacted to this song and did it without a single pause. FrenchTastic (Marie) reacts to HF all the time and has never paused her reactions. It's the same for reactors elsewhere in the world.

@@Reckyj From what I've heard, copyright blocks vary by country. Since you've already done a candid reaction, it won't hurt to take a look at Petra's video and see if there are any obvious differences in the way she did it and the way you tried and failed. Her reaction is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqHIp62BnqyakMk Sometimes Marie is blocked by artists that are no problem for reactors in the US and Canada. She's convinced that it's because she's in France.

Hadn't seen this one either. I loved the way they did it, though my all time favorite version of it is the one in "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou". That movie has a whole series of fantastic musical numbers. You know I'm all in for PTX, but Home Free does almost exclusively country songs or songs sung in a country style, while PTX never does that. So maybe there is plenty of room for both groups.

They don't exactly have a Mitch but Austin is singing low for this song, he has an amazing range and his high end is beyond good. You should also add Voice Play and Geoff C. solo's (their bass) into your journey, all 3 are too good to pass by. I watch too many reactors so I kind of see what works best, just some thoughts if you want them... I would try to do your pauses between their singing bits rather than in the middle of them and after a pause it's nice to go back a few seconds to start up again. Also you don't need to apologize for pausing, we all know how it works. Keep up the good work.

PTX and Home Free are both Winners in their own seasons of The Sing-Off; PTX won Season3 and HF won Season4, so they're equally the best per Sing-Off standard. That is not to say the the other groups in the show aren't as good, they just didn't showcase their best at the time. Case and point, VoicePlay [season4] is now just as popular as the other two, same with Voctave and Filharmonic. Home Free is very involved with their reactors: Candice Fontaine, Maggie Renee, Kazandra Brock and FrenchTastic, by mentioning and sometimes providing interview time for them. Maggie Renee is a opera singer, who is very open to different styles ranging from Home Free to Nightwish, then Meatloaf ie Jim Steinman who provides very in depth analysis. I would suggest you try contacting FrenchTastic, since she is in France and do a small interview with each other to develop your subscriber base. Home Frees cover of I Swear is incredible, very 90's. The other a capella group you need to check is VoicePlay. They are a very fun group who work at getting involved in their production by 'dressing' in character ie My Mother Told me

Sorry - I don't think that "American Southern" explains Home Free's appeal. I'm Canadian born & raised and I think Home Free is terrific. I'm rather apathetic about Pentatonix thus far. By the way, the lead singer of this - Austin Brown - is from south Georgia and the bass (Tim Foust) is from Texas - I think their southern accents add an authenticity to the song.

Do NOT think Home Free is just country/southern. Listen to How Great Thou Art. Is their version of Pentatonix doing Hallelujah. As far as Mitch in Pentatonix....their not so secret weapon is Austin the lead singer with the hat in Man of Constant Sorrow. He has his own channel. Austin Brown music.

Butt remix eller Champagne on a beer budget tex.

It's worse than that. No harmonica. No jaw harp. No vinyl record crackle at the beginning. Just voice. Interestingly, Adam Chance does the jaw harp using harmonic overtone (aka Tibetan throat) singing, which makes sense since that method works really well for basses and baritones and he is kind of both. And of course, no drum kit. Try their Sea Shanty medley for castanets!
