Lloyd, the documentary was like a symphony, building to a crescendo that not only condemned Watchtower, but was a validation and exoneration to the survivors. The documentary allowed us to hear them, to believe them and to cry for the injustice and pain they have endured. A denouncement, a healing and, yes, a call to action. Many thanks to Reclaimed Voices, the Dutch media and government. Children must be a priority. How I hope this documentary will be shown extensively. Truly a testament to the human spirit.

I grew up near the Kingdom Farm in South Lansing New York under the "rulership" of Nathan Knorr. Served at Brooklyn Bethel for one year (1969-1970), served as an elder (1972-1980) and left in 1980 while serving as an elder. I saved my life, my wife's life and my children. All those of my family who are still in the religion are not doing so well. Stuck in a cruel fear fantasy. Thank you Lloyd for all you do!

There are people who hate that Lloyd is a paid activist. This is high quality activism. Being able to be hands on is what helps. This is my first time visiting this channel. I was extremely impressed by the professionalism shown by the producer of this video. The presentation is fair and balanced. This shows that Jehovah’s Witnesses are perhaps far worse than most mainstream religions that I have read about when it comes to child sexual abuse. Using the Bible to hide criminals by silencing the victims is worse than the crimes committed by the sexual predators. Criminals must be relieved to find a religion like Jehovah’s Witnesses. Great job with this video!

agreed. The two witness rule or confession is nonsense here. There are often physical signs of abuse which a doctor can verify that abuse has taken place. This is as valuable as a witness statement. Ofcourse an abuser will not commit the crime in front of two witnesses for precisely that reason. Does the victim not count as a witness? Yes - let authorities investigate these allegations/ crimes.

Great film. I think the only way to bring the organization to its knees and make changes it to start arresting the ones at the top when they refuse to implement legally mandated changes. Also, take away their tax exempt status and charge substantial penalties. If an individual refused to follow a court order, they would be arrested and held for contempt of court. The leadership is the ones who need to feel the pain, not the rank and file members (unless they are abusers).

The anger I had towards the Governing Body has multiplied one hundred fold after watching this. I do not believe this religion should be banned. I believe it should be hit where it hurts the most, their pockets. Take away their tax exempt status, make them pay a percentage of their entire bank account to these victims, and fine them millions, not thousands, until they are forced to open all their files. But, how do they know for certain that they are not included as wicked? Look at all the cover ups. After reading Crisis of Conscience I learned that it's not about "cleaning house". Hi Lloyd- I just found your channel a few days ago and wanted to thank you for your work. It's unbelievable helpless children are forced to live this way. I turned 50 this year and grew up as a JW. I was disfellowshipped in 1990 for leaving my abusive husband, was reinstated in 1999 and then faded away a couple years after that. I live in the US and was a victim of sexual abuse by a much older ministerial servant in the congregation from the time I was about 9 years old until I married at the age of 18. He was probably in his 50's at the time it began. The elders in my congregation were made aware of his behavior by my mother and the authorities were never alerted to my knowledge. Going to meetings 3 times a week was torture for me as I was constantly trying to avoid being trapped in some isolated area of the Kingdom Hall by this man. I know for a fact he had abused several other young sisters over the years as we shared our experiences years later, each thinking we were the only one he singled out. He has since passed away but... for me, being subjected to that torture for years as well as marrying an abusive elder in the congregation along with many occasions of being dragged into the "room of doom" to be grilled by the elders over the years for the slightest slip up from the time I was a teenager has caused such a physical, mental and emotional exhaustion for me that I just had to get away from it all. I've always known something just wasn't right with this religion and hearing others voice the same feeling has helped me feel a tremendous weight has been lifted off me. My mother is still a JW and constantly preaches to me that I need to return to Jehovah but for me this way of life was not living. It was brainwashing, torture and constant guilt trips for not ever living up to that perfect person they expect one to be.

There are many YT videos showing Priest and Deacons speaking up to the coverup of handling of the abuse in the Vatican - without being shunned for it. Maryann Lockwood I don't think that will ever happen. The Catholic Church has a lot more haters than Jehovah witnesses do. I hope I'm wrong though. I was sexually abused as a child not by a JW but a friend of the family. My JW inept mother turned a convenient blind eye to this. She still argues that before the 1990s there was no such thing as child abuse. I know she knows this isn't true but I guess she's a pretty gullible woman.

Great documentary, thank you. I'm a Brit living in the Netherlands, and I never cease to be proud of my adoptive country. I wonder if there is something about Dutch society and the Dutch psyche that makes challenges to the abusive practices of JWs more possible here. Dutch people are generally more open, outspoken and prepared to criticise than are Brits and (probably to a lesser extent) Americans. We need to learn something from them; namely how to put aside our fear of offending people and to call a spade a spade.

Religions get away from things that normal companies do not. This is not a level playing field. We have rules for one entity that are not applied to another entity. A company is held liable for sexual harassment in the work place. However, a religion, in which its leaders are doing bad things, gets away from being held accountable goes unscathed. What comes across is the respect Reclaimed Voices and those abused show - so polar opposite to the arrogance, disrespect and dismissive attitude that the organisation shows to those who have suffered from the organisation’s actions and to all outside. Powerful documentary. The trauma these individuals experience each day of their lives are heart wrenching. While Watchtower keeps talking and doing nothing, only compounds the issue at hand. Using the Bible as a way to avoid responsibility only shows how Watchtower will do anything to avoid accountability. Then, they ask for money on their JW Broadcast. I praise the Netherland's government in stepping in and addressing this issue. A lawyer, whose heart is in the right place, taking on an organization with their lawyers to confront legally this issue. May all governments follow this course. Thanks Lloyd.

It will, no doubt, go down in history as one of these must-watch documentaries about Jehovah's Witnesses of which there is until now about a handful. Reclaimed Voices (both the organisation and this documentary about them), puts the Watchtower Society in the spotlight in an unprecedented manner, that will at some stage force the Watchtower Society to (reluctantly) address this issue publicly. I couldn't help ponder the certain irony in these events taking place in Holland when you think about the story about the little Dutch boy plugging the leak in the dike with his finger, but more and more holes appear and more and more seep through the once so impenetrable structure. This will be heard far beyond the Dutch Bethel walls - whether they will ever admit it or not. It has always struck me as quite curious, how much the GB-members actually know about what "apostates" have to say about the organisation on social media when it comes to commenting on such matters during convention talks etc. It appears that they are immune to the "dangers" of the internet and examine material such as this quite systematically. But that's, of course, a good thing. Raymond Franz has already proven, that the person you least expect it may be the one waking up and spilling the beans on the entire organisation. So if someone from either the governing body or one of the helpers browse through all this material (and I have no doubt they do - they are not stupid enough to remain unprepared for what is coming their way), there is still hope that one of these individuals might grow a conscience at some stage, and do the right thing. It has happened many times already with less prominent members - but nonetheless high ranking elders serving in positions of great responsibility - who simply could no longer turn the blind eye. And that is an accelerating trend, of which we have only watched the beginning. The snowball has indeed started it's downhill rolling. I can't wait to see what it will take with it in its downhill path while it grows bigger and heavier, still accelerating ...

Very well done. It brought out a lot of anger in a friend of mine who went through a lot with another friend who had been abused. I will share what she emailed me after watching this (she doesn't post anywhere public as long as her husband remains a devout jw)... "I have had it with this Organization! They have ruined my life and so many friends have been harmed by these sick freak's! MONEY HUNGRY MEN OF LAWLESSNESS! They REFUSE TO OBEY THE LAW!!! When are they going to be shut DOWN!!!!!!!!!!? IF THEY COME TO YOUR DOOR, tell them you want nothing to do with them because their head body refuses to report sexual abuse, even when the supreme court says they MUST! And then they tell the members that these people need two witnesses and anyone who talks about the abuse is an APOSTATE! INCLUDING the news and the reporters! These too are all just lying people! And tell their members not to listen to these reports, they are FAKE NEWS!!!!!!!!!... UNREAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST DAM DONE! SORRY, angry after watching this knowing what I know!"
