So many people think that the thicker the cover the better, but there is such a thing as too thick! Unfortunately, it gets to the point where the only thing that will use it is smaller game like rabbits and birds. My property is covered in bush honeysuckle, and I have noticed that certain areas that have gotten to the point that you can’t hardly walk through it, the deer begin to avoid them.

I have a work jacket that looks like yours. Refuse to retire it. I use trichlopyr after clearing over-grown woody vegetation like locust. Its selective, doesnt kill your native grasses. You dont have to re-set the whole area with a burn down which sets the area back a couple years. Lots of those returning weeds are high protein diverse deer food. Real common scenario on the landscape, bringing in equipment like you did is the way to go.

If don’t have cedars would spruce or hemlocks work? Have bunch of fir that want to thin and create better cover. They seem to use in winter. Some of it just to thick. Also found a nesting turkey in a brush pile while was on wildfire engine assignment. We was felling creating breaks and turkey made use of the brush for nest. We left her be and she stayed nesting

a pond would be awesome there. would you have to put some clay or something down for it to hold water, or just put up a little dam and the rain will keep it full?

Looks good! What's a good spray to use to get rid of those plants with thorns? Thanks. Great video enjoyed it.

Curious Lee, for the locust in the field, are you spot spraying those and if so, how are you identifying them? If you are doing a boom spray, what are you using for weeds and the trees?

Not Lee but I’ve used whetstone herbicide on trees and have had success opening canopies. It’s pricey though. I’ve used the hack and spray method and it’s worked.
