Another glorious 1212 AD siege! GG to both armies. The Muslim powers definitely had tons of W’s even if the trebuchets were harassing his army, they managed to win the day

I'm from Cordoba, and it doesn't look like the city, making it a tough map to play. I encourage you to visit the actual mosque, which is also a Christian cathedral. It is unique. We have the most UNESCO-designated beautiful cities and cultural treasures in the world.
@evanneal49363 күн бұрын
It doesn't look like the MODERN city, but keep in mind that it looked way different back then than it does now and back then it probably did look like that, we don't know 100% for sure... that being said, tw is not intended to be 100% accurate. It's just a representation or placeholder.

The genius of the defender on the left side to use first the crossbows without ammo to charge in and then another unit to hold up the cav of the attackers so the javelins could pick them off im surprised you Apollo missed that

This is a bit off topic and more related to medieval 2, but i constantly hear apollo complain about using artillery for pitched battles, but it's actually extremely useful and increases the likelihood of winning. I assume everyone doesn't like it because its unfair and "OP" but in med 2 so is cavalry, cav is even more op...in my opinion if you ban artillery in a pitched battle you MUST also ban cav to make it fair and balanced and ill never play against someone who bans artillery but not cav...because artillery is a major aspect of my strategy...napoleon said "the one with the best artillery always wins" and sun tzu said "if you have an advantageous position, force your enemies to come to you instead of attacking them" what i usually do is set up an indestructible defensive position "dont rely on the likelihood of the enemy attacking or not, but rely on the fact that you have made your position unattackable"(sun tzu) and then bombard the enemy with long range artillery and longbows(the reason England is the best faction in med 2) that they CAN'T counter, so that if they stay still and wait for me, i decimate and soften up their units until theres nothing left before directly attacking head on, or it forces them to make the first move and attack me in my indestructible defensive position which is EXACTLY what I want, because I'm mostly a defensive player, allowing me to be more patient and adapt easier to the situation "war is caos and winning is about who can control the caos better" (napoleon bonaparte). "The best offense is a great defense followed by a successful counter- attack after weakening the attacking forces with a stronger and unpenatrable defense"(sun tzu) I use ranged missile units and anti cav to protect the artillery so that nobody flanks an attack on it or use a reserve cav force hidden in the back behind it. Most players send their entire army out to meet the enemy head on in melee(probably why apollo says artillery is not very good in pitched battles because if you do this the artillery is vulnerable), but if you make them come to you, they can't get the artillery in a vulnerable position because your entire army is guarding it, and they have to route your entire army to get to the artillery. Which they can't do because they are weakened from your artillery and missile fire before they reach the front line and get easily crushed by your now stronger infantry units. The best counter to my strategy is a rush build, but i bring mostly the dismounted English knights as infantry because they are diverse enough to stop cav in a rush build AND infantry units like feudal knights and chivalric knights, etc. Whether that's in an infantry rush build or a standard infantry army. They also receive a charge bonus similar to cav and are basically cav units but on foot and are equally as strong as mounted cav plus the AP attack bonus as well. The best part is that by the time the enemy reaches your front lines, they are severely weakened and can't defeat your infantry units, on top of this, they are more tired or exhausted while mine are fresh and ready and COMPLETELY undamaged because nobody else can match the range that i have with artillery and longbows. I combine artillery(usually mortars) with longbows(who have the longest range of any missle unit and both can shoot over my army removing friendly fire casualties) to make an impossible to defeat army with a lot of multipurpose infantry like dismounted English knights who can beat both cav and feudal knights/all other infantry easily(especially since the others are exhausted and already damaged severely) and only bring just enough cav to stop charges from enemy cav or as a flanking force... so far, my strategy is undefeated, including from real actual players online... I've NEVER lost a single battle... and it works on hard campaign difficulty as well as against real online players. In short, make the enemy attack you (because offense is harder than defense and causes more disorganization and casualties due to movement and redeployment plus more exhausted troops), especially if you have an advantage in position and deployment such as a hill or other favorable terrain. Soften up the enemy with the artillery if they stand still or while they move, try to split the enemy army in half during their attempt to redeploy( napoleons tactic of divide and conquer) use archers to also soften them and to protect the other units... by the time they engage your infantry lines, they are at least 50% weaker in strength or less, allowing you to easily beat them in melee(even if they technically have superior infantry units) ...use cav like you would in tw napoleon, as a reserve or flanking force looking for opportunities rather than just charging in offensively... place stakes around the artillery with your skirmishers and defend the artillery like its the city center of a siege and they will NEVER be destroyed... angle your archers so that they overlap in fire, leaving no gaps and making sure they can cover the flanks as well and have cav ready for the flanks, whether for defense or offense against the enemies flanks, i also prefer to use the "oblique order" where i send a small diversionary force, usually of strong infantry capable of holding a front line well, to distract and attract the main part of the enemy army like the "anvil" then use the bulk of my army to be the "hammer" and flank them like napoleon, Frederick of Prussia, and Alexander the Great always did ... do these things, and you'll be undefeated EVERY time. It works every time, especially when the enemy uses "noob square" like the most recent med 2 championship winner did. (i could easily have beaten him if i was playing because they're standing still and can't match the range of my artillery and longbows and thus have to break and leave the defensive position, then i attack by divide and conquer and using oblique order while they're disorganized and trying to redeploy.) Works even better on hills or other favorable terrain. Artillery is just as useful and important in med 2 as it is in napoleon tw its just that most people, including Apollo, don't know how to use it correctly in pitched battles (at least not in med 2).
