I have this chair I special ordered in leather. The cloth chair I tried in the show room for fine, the one I got is like this one. You're laying down in it all the time. It's the most uncomfortable chair I've owned. I'll be checking out your pitch video. Besides being uncomfortable the wooden dowels in the frame keep braking and lazy boy wouldn't fix it.

wow i JUST found you last nite !!!!!!i wrote you in the last video about the scissor bolt missing and didnt know how to fix it... i bought the chair fronm a elderly lady going into a assisted living home...she was selling off her house to pay for it.....her husband died a few yrs ago .dont know if she had kids etc.. i hunted til early morning trying to find this chair on ebay, etsey, amazon etc....the closest ive come was a style lazy boy put out in 1981 / ebay ad cover for a sales magazine... its winged back , solid maple wings and arms , no cushions on arms has a pleaded skirt long seat... this chair was beyond filthy as was her home... soo terribly sad to live like that..the chair is in good condition considering, the foot rest didnt workk right, it dropped on the left side when facing it .so i flipped it. found some screws loose and missing on footrest , fixed that. then found the bolt...on thre scissor part...that attached the footrest to the chair....2 seperate scissors joined by this bolt,, was gone....and the rachet recliner parts are gone too or.... they arent together in your videos... dont know what parts i need to make it work..but for now..i needed the main scissor bolt.. where or how.... can i fix it??????? i need to flip it again, to see if it rides againist the other scissor parts or does it drop lower and not touch them...can i just put a bolt/nut and make it work????? just dont want to make it worse...... i havent seen a video yet on the mechanic of the scissor action or repairs yet on u tube...thank you for this video... i learned soo much from it.. tip back is dangerous esp when your alone and cant roll out of it..and then it flips back up...maybe pinching you 1/2 way out of it.. not good!!! so much to learn thank you soo much glad i saved this chair its nice but filthy !!!! also can i take the back off this model too?????? thank you again for all that you do... i live in northern maine..nite are below in the 20s now... winter is on its way ;[;[;[

@@reclinerrepairguy4155 hi pete...welli found a large flat washer and a bolt and nut and put it on last nite... i also 3n1 oiled all the moving parts i could see...so far its currently working for the foot rest .i was concerned if... i did use a bolt and nut.... it would interfere with the scissor action....it doesnt thankfully.....you have i set of scissors that come from the main chair... thats 1 set...... then you have another set of scissors that come from the foot rest towards the chair...thats another set...they each join together like a king link to form a complete scissor for the chair... the part that joins together ...is where i was missing a rivit on the left side facing the chair.. dont know how long this will work.... but..so far the foot rest is operating as it should....;];];];] thank you for getting back to me .

I’m not sure how much experience you have with my type of chair or if you’ll see this comment, but I just got a gently used Lane Comfort King rocker/recliner but as soon as I sit in it the rocker immediately tips back pulling my feet off the floor. Is there a way you know to adjust the pitch on the lane comfort kings?

@adambeard4427 - I've worked on that model in the past, and I don't recall a pitch adjustment. Check to see if any parts are damaged/broken on the mechanism, rocker base, where the back attaches, etc. If the parts are all good, the chair may not fit you properly. @Janice Dowdall - Depending on how your chair is made, it may or may not have a pitch adjustment. Check with the manufacturer to learn more.

The 'Adjusting Pitch' video will eventually be reposted to youtube, along with more material from the defunct website. Note that the suggested repositioning of the springs is incorrect. Moving the spring forward should lower the footrest slightly.

I literally just ordered and received a lazy boy power recliner like this one in the video. It leans back horribly! My question is, have you noticed if a power lazy boy (footrest and backrest only) has the same leaned back pitch? I’d still like to have power but if the powered lumbar and headrest are causing the lean back I have to wonder if just having powered leg rest and back would cause the same lean back problem?? The retailer is allowing me a return but I’m afraid to reorder and have the same problem as they don’t have the powered lazy boy Taladega in stock just the manual one. Thoughts?

In the meantime, there's a quick explanation of the pitch adjustment in the 'How to Install la-z-boy Rocker Springs' video at ~6:20 mark -----> kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaqod3WvqNxrf8U Important note: I believe the instruction regarding moving the spring is incorrect. I think it should be: Move the springs forward to lower the footrest toward the floor. Move the springs back to raise the footrest. Also, please note that this adjustment is minimal & most people will not notice a difference after the adjustment has been made.

My back on my Lazyboy Anderson model doesn't seem to pop back easily from the reclined position, sometimes it gets "Stuck" tilted back too far. I also think in general the back is tilted back farther than it was when new... do you have a video for that specific problem?

Would you recommend putting blocks under the rear of the base in order to fix the pitch problem? Or a 2x4 across and under the two legs? I’ve only had this thing for six months and in the fully upright position I’m tilted back too far. My mother has trouble getting out of it.

@Colin Francis - There's no particular method that I would recommend. You can "rig" it however you like. Just keep in mind that some methods can affect the stability of the chair as it sits on the floor.

You just re-set the springs. Remove ALL 6 screws from EACH springs, use the original holes in the wood, re-set the springs using the back hole in each set of three holes. It lowers the front so your feet aren't dangling after you sit.

Can you adjust the back pitch on a La-z-boy recliner that sits back too far in the upright position (great view of the ceiling)? I could not find the video you refer to for this process. Other recliner mfg. have adjustable pitch adjustments on the base but not these boys! Please help with any ideas. Thanks

@Ken Pollitt - Pitch adjustment on La-z-boy Rocker/Recliners is minimal. And most users will not notice any difference after the adjustment is made. There is one exception to that: If the adjustment is already at one extreme, and you happen to want to go in the opposite direction, then the adjustment will be noticeable. I have 2 videos that cover this topic: It's covered briefly in 'How to Install Laz-boy Rocker Springs,' and more thoroughly in the video 'Adjusting Laz-boy Rocker/Recliner Pitch,' which is on the reclinerrepairguy.com website.

Thanks, I found a solution. Just cut 1-1/2" High shims and attach them to the bottom edge at the rear of the wood base. This elevates the back forcing it forward just enough. Works like a champ.

Glad I found this video, but also disappointed. My recliner has a leaned-back position even when upright, but it was apparently designed that way. When I sat in it in the store, it felt great. I didn't notice, but now that it's been at home in front of the TV, I'm bummed. I did adjust the pitch to bring it forward, but with the design, it just isn't made to sit upright. At least now I can stop searching for solutions and accept that's the way it was designed. Thanks.

I have a Kizer recliner. It is my sons chair. We have had this chair for over 2 years, thing is it started to lean back and keep leaning heading to flip backwards. I turned it over and did not allow anyone to use it for over a year.. I have gone to many businesses to ask who can fix this or who can I call to have it fixed.. The place we bought this chair at is no longer in business, so that is not an option.. I have replaced a couple of the bolts that were missing and the tension springs, I am still dealing with the chair going to far back to tipping over situation.. Can you please give me some other idea to have this fixed

However, if there is something broken, bent, etc. on the chair, find an experienced recliner (furniture) repair tech to fix it for you.

@brianleabo6295 - The tension adjustment adjusts the back tilt tension only, which is a separate function. If the entire chair is pitching back, the adjustment will have no effect on that.
