Ive studied this trigger design. And it does not should not negate the firing pin or drop safety's. The cruciform and trigger are now two separate pieces. The trigger all it does now is release the precocked sear. I also see if you wanna increase the weight of the trigger a heavier connector like a 8lb should put it around a 5.5 lb or so pull weight. This trigger should be a game changer guys.

William, I agree, a plus 8lb connector should do the trick. I’ve looked at all the places I know of and a few that I found in the process but absolutely none in stock anywhere. Glock is simply not releasing any parts now. Trigger companies that use OEM parts are feeling the pinch. Time for other companies to step forward to make Glock parts.

Wait holding the firing pin back. That means its no longer striker fire nor has the Glock Safe Action system. As one of the safety features has now been removed. As the firing pin is cocked and ready to go. If hard bump now the the sear could release the firing pin and fire. Where in past could not as firing pin was not in cocked position.

After several hours of frustration and phone calls to Timney, my Gunsmith gave up trying to install the comp trigger into my stock Glock 19 Gen 4. However, he did test installing it in his Glock 19 Gen 3, and it installed and functioned perfectly. Timney indicated on his last call that Timney had incurred some defective parts in their mfg. process causing issues for installations for Gen 4 pistols. Since I wasted $$ with the Gunsnith attempts I sold the Timney kit to him at a discount. I plan on my future purchases with Mcarbo in the future since I've incurred no previous issues with their products.

Awesome trigger I installed it on my 19X with the red trigger return spring it ads a little bit over a half a pound it consistently gives me 3 1/2 pounds trigger pull on my wheeler trigger gauge that was Timney advice to add a little bit of extra weight 🏃‍♂️ flawlessly my first 600 rounds 💯🤙🏽

For competition _"maybe"_ aftermarket parts like this Timmey trigger will help *_a little._* But marketing aside: For CCW/concealed carry or even regular self-defense save your money and/or put it into training/practicing at the range to learn your gun & it's trigger. I have seen people who actually train and shoot their guns in stock condition beat the pants off of folks with tricked out guns. *_It is not the tool, *_it is the man_* that is the _game changer._

@@sweetcostarica Why are you separating training and tactical skills, they're the same thing, that is unless you're training the wrong skills then at that point you were taught wrong. And I love when people pull imaginary percentages out of their ass so I'm going to do it as well, it's more like 85% training/skill and 15% the tools. You can be VERY proficient with the tools you already have, but the guy with your exact skill level will always perform better with higher quality tools. You have the good enough mentality, which usually works out fine but it shows you're limited on the amount of experience an edge, although slight, can bring to the table. A good trigger will always allow a skilled shooter to make more accurate shots in rapid concession than a equally skilled shooter using an inferior trigger, and in case of a life or death situation, seconds and even milliseconds matter.

Great vid. I bought a timney alpha trigger for my g34 about 4 weeks ago since then, I had about 200 rounds through it. My Glock is a competition gun only, as in my homecountry carrying weapons for selfdefense is not allowed. Compared with the stock trigger, the timney alpha is really awesome. But as I changed frome a highly modified competition package, the "wow-effect" was not so big as I suggested. Of course, it highly depends on what you want. Timney features a clear wall, a crisp break and an incredible reset, trigger pull is under 3lbs with standard spring assembly! But I prefer a rolling trigger break feel over the "wall- feeling" of the timney. But thats just what I prefer. The timney is clearly worth to purchase.

@@robertwatson818 when you pull the Glock trigger, there are 3 stages: the pre-travel, the break-travel and the over-travel. The "wall" is what you feel, when you have passed the pre-travel and reaches the break-travel. When you pass the wall, the shot breaks. Now there are 2 philosophies in tuning the Glock-trigger, depending on your preferences: a) making this wall clearer/ more perceptible or b) straighten the wall , so that pre-travel and break-travel merge into one another (that's what you call the rolling break)

@@suzybacher3218 I've been using a Glock since 1993---out of the box. My 2nd Gen 17 has around 200,000 rounds through it. None of these "characteristics have ever come to mind. Take the slack out of the trigger--press just a little more---the gun fires. I've tried various triggers others had in their Glocks---one was only 1 1/2 pounds. Few of them would reliably function without hand seated Federal primers and even those required constant "tuning" to stay reliable. Not once have I ever thought about all the nuances of the trigger. I just want the gun to fire when I press the trigger. My 17 has all the original internal trigger parts--and the pull is 5 1'2 pounds.Last year I tried a Ghost rocket connector--made my gun double or shoot five shots at a time. I long ago gave up on trying to get a low pull weight in my Glocks. The mechanism is not favorable towards lighter function.

@@robertwatson818 200.000 rounds awesome! I agree 100% with you. When my Glock was a duty weapon or for self-defense, I'd do the hell to change anything from the stock items. Stock Glocks are excellent for the purpose they are build - no need to change anything. Mine is for competition use only. And the tuning parts of the triggers are in no way as durable as the stock ones, proper maintenance and cleaning is obligatory, and they have to be replaced after a few hundred rounds but nevertheless there may be reliability issues with light prime strikes. But in a competition gun I can stand that. Would be different, if my life depends on it!

@@suzybacher3218 I was a reserve officer for 17 years. Mine saw use as a duty weapon and competition gun. I have a fitted Bar-Sto barrel for it also. With that barrel, my hand load (6.3 of Unique--115 gr. Remington JHP) it would shoot one inch groups at 25 yards.I shot 500 --1000 rounds a week for over 12 years in various matches around the south. At 75 my eye sight will not let me shot those small groups anymore---but in the hands of a youngster it will still do that. I was laughed at when I started using a "plastic pistol" in local matches. After I won several in a row---the laughing stopped. Six months later 60% of the shooters were using Glocks---the main attraction being--they worked!!

I purchased this Trigger back in December 2022for my polymer, 80 model 17. Based on the advertisement of this trigger, the manufacturer advertises that this Trigger will work flawlessly out of the box.Well, let me tell you my story, I have called these people no less than five times I’ve left messages with no return calls.. this company posts that it is a professional organization. I don’t think so… so if you do purchase the trigger, take heed, and be very cautious, there is no support, and the trigger does not work on the poly 80 model 17. No matter what they tell you… in fact, I have taking this gun into a certified gunsmith, and he had shaking his head with the design of this trigger. It is unsafe to shoot. The trigger allows multiple discharges of rounds without notice and very scary.

Really like Glocks because of there reliability. However, I have always hated there triggers. With the VP9, PPQ, SIG 320 and even FN... That have superior triggers make it hard for me to buy more than one glock. Thank you for posting this. Because if this fixes it. A good handgun just got better.

Same here. I’ve experimented with an Apex flat faced trigger. The end result is great for range play, but I would NOT carry that firearm. The trigger pull is simply too short and so is the reset.

I’m also smart enough to know that insulting random people on the internet demonstrates your character.

I’m not saying this trigger is unsafe, but the fact is that this trigger is removing one of the safety features of a Glock. That safety being the striker being cocked when you pull the trigger. Now just like most striker fired pistols, the striker is relying on the sear and the striker safety for the pistol not to fire.

If you watch the video on Glocks website on the operation of the internal drop safety it becomes quite clear what Timney did. It looks like they simply extended the sear catch about 1mm or so. Then to allow the drop safety to work they would need to shave off an equal amount of material from the forward part of the "wings" on the trigger bar to allow the needed clearance for them to drop down in to the release notch as the trigger is pulled. This by no means should render the drop safety inoperable or compromise it in any way.

The firing-pin in a factory GLOCK trigger goes to a 'half-cock' position between shots, and the user completes the 'cocking cycle' by pressing the trigger. But this Timney unit enables the firing-pin to be brought to a 'fully-cocked' position by the action of the gun firing? - Two questions: - 1: is this safe? Part of the GLOCK-safety gimmick is that dropping the gun from any height or angle wouldn't cause a discharge, because the firing pin isn't 'at-the-ready' until the shooter pulls the trigger, which pulls the firing pin the extra bit back before the release. - 2: What are the long-term implications of this upon the firing-pin spring? Factory GLOCK firing-pin springs are only brought to their apex compression about _one-twentieth of a second_ before the gun fires. Multiplied by the number of shots out of that particular firearm, that spring might only be at its maximum compression for about an hour over its entire life. But this kit puts it into that position between each shot. Considering that my gen III is however many years old, if I had this installed since the day I bought it, that spring would be maximally compressed for literally *years* instead of literally minutes. _Will this affect long-term reliability?_ - 3: Good! I've tried to dry-fire my GLOCK a tremendous number of times while focusing on the front-sight, and there is *always* a tiny amount of lateral tremble as the action of pulling the trigger fully-cocks the pin just prior to release. To some extent this is absolutely my own fault/problem. However, I can dry-fire my CZ or other people's Sigs (for example) without that tiny amount of lateral 'tremble', so it's also partly the design of the GLOCK. It sounds like this product might address that. - 4: Shane emphasizes that this product utilizes many OEM components. However, is it *capable* of working with other after-market systems? For example, I have an LWD (Lone Wolf Distributors) type of setup in there which lowers the trigger pull from ~5.5 pounds down to ~3.5 pounds. _Can I use that trigger bar setup with this Timney setup?_ And if I can, does it bring the entire effect down to comically small trigger-pulls like 1.5 or 2 pound trigger pulls?

It doesn't bypass any of the factory Glock safeties so I'd say it is drop safe. Having the firing pin cocked at all times does nothing to release any of the safeties. The firing pin block is only bypassed when the trigger is pulled. The trigger can only be pulled when the "dingus" is also initiated. As far as the spring life goes, springs wear from being cycled. Holding them at their designed compression or extension does nothing to them. This has been proven over and over again. This is why you can leave magazines loaded for years and they still work just fine. Repeated spring cycles is what wears out a spring. You cannot use a different trigger bar b/c of the way this system works. It comes with its own trigger bar and trigger shoe which has its own return spring. The trigger bar is different on the back end compared to a stock Glock bar

I ordered one for my comp gun, but won't try it in a carry gun until I can evaluate it. It sounds to me Timney is achieving the trigger pull characteristics by pre-loading of the striker (I do this already in my own custom trigger mod on my comp gun). I'd avoid that method in a carry gun. Edit: Now that I’ve had a chance to try it, I’m confident in its safety and that it does not bypass Glock’s drop safety or striker block. That said, I would not recommend it for carry. The reset on it is not positive enough for me to trust. I’d say it compares to the trigger mod I did on my competition glock, that’s to say, it’s a big improvement over stock glock trigger pull. I can confirm it achieves this by pre-loading the striker. Not necessarily bad, so long as the glock safety’s are not bypassed, and they aren’t. I’d recommend you have your Gunsmith install this to verify safe operation. Edit 2: In my initial two minute assessment after receiving the trigger, I’ve had more time to analyze its function and was wrong. Not only does it defeat the drop safety of the original Glock design, but it defeats the original Glock function of “safe action”/double action, resulting in two of the three internal safeties transparent to most users being defeated. I would strongly advise against the use of this trigger for any application.

Far too many people, new to guns or long time firearms owners are far too sold on products to make up for their lack of training and practice. If their handgun skills aren’t where they want them to be after 2 range trips last year, they will throw thousands of dollars into upgrades and optics and gear and completely ignore that the only thing that will make you better is shooting the pistol.

I think Gaston put more emphasis on simplicity, reliability and safety than “right” a gen 3 or gen 4 Glock trigger assembly only has 4 parts. Besides a CZ trigger beats the pants off a 92 and they put the safety/decocker in the right location. If beretta did it right there wouldn’t be a need for a 92x performance, LTT, Wilson Combat, etc lol. While the 1911 trigger is pretty rad an original and unmodified 1911 trigger pulls a pound heavier than a Glock and can get pretty gritty but goes unnoticed most times because of the short travel. I too worship at the altar of JMB, but there’s a lot to be said about what Gaston Glock was able to accomplish.

Is there a chance of the Timney alpha competition for glock 19 gen 5, to disarm the firing pin due to a drop from a chest height? Once this trigger makes the gun to get full coked (I mean 100% of the firing on the set ready strike position)... This situation wouldnt cause a incidental shot, because of the safety plunger pin, but it would set the gun not ready for fire... even with the ammo set on the chamber... Has anyone done this test?

@@f5tornadeau I've shot em both in the same range session. I'd say stock for stock they are very close and both way better than any factory Glock. With a hbi theta trigger shoe the P10 is better than a stock canik. I'm sure there are quick upgrades that improve the canik as well though.

@@DJ.1001 I didn’t do them both in the same range session, and I was quite pleasantly surprised by the Canik. That could account for part of the discrepancy. Both are certainly better than Glock, that’s for sure.

Grip angle is fine. It’s aids in recoil control. I shoot mostly M&Ps and my G19 occasionally. Grip angle does not bother me at all, if anything I like it. I just prefer the M&P because the grip contour is better for me and I can manipulate the controls easier without breaking my grip.

I don't think grip-angle is fixable. That directly ties to the magazines. "Fixing it" would mean that the same magazines wouldn't work. Also, as the other guy noted, that grip angle helps a lot with recoil-management. Might sound silly with 9mm cartridges, but it absolutely assists with follow-up shots.

@@TROOPERfarcry You can “fix” the grip angle with aftermarket frames such as polymer 80. They use a shallower angle that’s similar to a 1911. It’s only a few degrees so the factory mags work fine. It’s all personal prefer really.

i wouldnt put anything with screws / that is super sensitive in a carry gun - best for a carry gun is to put in a lighter reset bar and lots of practice! I messed around with the trigger of a competition gun (Glock 34) yes.

@@brighthought11 I also love the overwatch precision trigger except I don't like the drop in trigger because I prefer the stock dot connector that comes with the gen 5 guns over the minus connector so I just need the trigger. But that's just personal preference as I like more of a wall than a rolling break with the minus connector. I'll wait for reviews on the timney trigger before buying one. I wouldn't call these videos reviews.

If they do make one, it should be a 4.5 or 5lb pull for carry. 3lbs is far too light for carry, which is the primary purpose for the 43x.

Poor workmanship from Timney on current triggers. Had all kinds of issues getting it to work. No response from Timney. Once I cleaned it up and polished all the parts worked fine.
