My PI is investigating the use of a recombinant hACE2 protein as a potential delivery system of anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs and I used this video as a refresher to help write a summary paper for this idea. Just last semester I was using your videos to study for my final exams, and now I'm using them to potentially help others develop a treatment for the novel coronavirus. Thank you!

9:00 if the plasmid is capable of self-replicating itself and provide us with multiple copies of the "gene of interest" why should we bother to insert the plasmid into an Ecoli bacteria??

The bacteria (E.coli ..in this particular case) ,the plasmid DNA ..all are used to produce the products we require.
@techheaven007
@techheaven007 3 жыл бұрын
because it is only capable to replicate inside E.coli..and it requires the cell machinery to replicate ! if we take a shuttle vector that works both in both E.coli and an eukaryotic cell like yeast then we can insert that recombinant plasmid to the yeast also ! its depending on the protein you want to get.. if its an animal or human protein that needs post transcriptional modification, you have to transfer the vector to an eukaryotic cell otherwise a prokaryotic cell is fine..

Sir can you say about heterologous protein in brief .
@Lumax96
@Lumax96 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've just got a question to see if I understand: so the DNA that is being used is called recombinant DNA because its different from the naturally occuring DNA, namely because its a recombination of a bacterial plasmid and a eukaryotic gene. But the protein that is being produced this way does not differ from the naturally occuring protein, but is called recombinant protein because it was produced using the recombinant DNA. Is that correct?
