Great collection. So many wonderful records to remember and listen to. A challenage - how genre merged over the years. Example, how the Momas and Papas were American Folk in the early 1960s and came to their own in the late 1960s. How various other artists were part of their songs. Moving through the years to today. You have done so much, seeing how they all were part of each others success would be fun. Great stuff!!!

Love part 2! The cabinets with the drawers are awesome, I would love to know where you got them. Your collection has such diversity and style. Most people who know me think that I just like rock, but I really do like classical music, great to see in your collection. Sinatra was nice to see, good clean sounding vocals like that are just relaxing. I didn’t notice if you had any Michael Bublé, he’s my wife’s favorite and I took her to see him a few years ago, great performer. When you got to Extreme, while watching this episode I was wearing my shirt that I got last weekend when I seen them, great show. I just kept thinking what a great collection, your a true music lover that understands the therapeutic effects that music has to the human soul. Weather we need to rock out with our fists in the air or sit and relax with some smooth jazz, it gives us what we need when we want it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

It's always cool to watch vinyl videos and see records that I have also, and your collection is so big it's inevitable. Particularly cool to see the Sergio Mendes LP. And Gary Wright! So many memories brought back from the good old days. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you.

Gotta say I love the record cabinet! I was guessing which albums you might have, thinking, “I bet she has….yep, she does!” I have many of the same albums. That Tracy Chapman album is very tough to find. That album was the very first CD I ever got back in 1988, got the vinyl as well. I’ll be seeing Stevie Nicks this summer, have been going to see her and Fleetwood Mac since 1986. Gotta go again! I love how you have those Garth Brooks sets randomly scattered thruout your collection!!

Wow! Fantastic collection! Lots of different musical genres. You get to see so many great albums and then you realize that even though you have a big collection and many fantastic albums, there’s so many that you don’t have as well. There’s just too many great albums out there. Do you keep a list of albums that you’re looking for? I recently borrowed the book “1000 albums to hear before you Die” from the library. I added many to a list on my phone. But last week, I went to four different record stores, and I didn’t look at that list one time. But Melinda, I still found many great albums. A few of them were: first pressings of “Exodus”, “Rastaman Vibration”, U2 “Zooropa”, Dust “Hard Attack” OG, and Donovan “A gift from a flower to a Garden” box set from 1967 with original folder and all 12 lyric sheets. It looked like the box was never open and the records were never played. Just insane! A couple times, I had to rush out of the store after paying. There were too many great records!!! I saw too much Gold! I left some behind that keep calling my name. This can be a difficult but rewarding hobby!

I saw a lot of great records during the tour of your collection; I have many of them as well. 😍 You and I have pretty similar tastes when it comes to metal, but I was never a big enough fan to buy records from bands like Ratt and Great White, even if I liked a few of their hits. It's good to see your blues records. 😻 I have many of those as well and hope you'll add some others to your collection. Bluesville and Chad's QRP have teamed up to reissue all analogue (AAA) blues albums this year. 😻 The first ones from John Lee Hooker and Skip James are coming in June of this year. This is a series that I'm closely monitoring. While you thumbed through your records, I noticed that you didn't have Frank Sinatra's very best albums. The Capitol albums "Ol Blue Eyes" recorded with arrangers like Nelson Riddle, Billy May, and Gordon Jenkins in the 1950's are absolutely essential, some of the very best music ever recorded in the 20th century. 😻😻😻😻😻

And you indeed have Golden Earring and Shocking Blue that's so nice to see. By the way, I forgot to mention Herman Brood & his Wild Romance. Their album "Shpritsz" has the song "Saturday Night" that charted in both Europe and the US. Herman Brood was a special guy. Sex, drugs and rock and roll through and through. I reside here in Weirton, WV, though I do have friends who reside in Pittsburgh, PA. I have a friend of mine, who was a roadie/stage crew for John Denver. He would get me tickets to John Denvet concerts when John Denver had shows in both Pittsburgh, PA and Wheeling WV. I had front row seats at the concerts that I attended. In 1986, my friend who worked for John Denver, had obtained a backstage pass for me to meet John Denver. My friend told me that getting a backstage pass was rare, for it's not easy getting a backstage pass. Fun video Melinda! In fact, you gave me an idea to do a similar video! I was all bummed about not being able to do such a video because I did not have the expensive modern pressings you do to show on shelves. You just gave me the idea of a brief tour of my "collection" (I like to use the word "library" because I'm not a "collector" by today's standards) using one of my crates the way you used those awesome drawers of yours. It won't be easy though, I'll have to figure out how to do it without anyone else to film (I already have an idea). The other part will be having to take records off the shelf, put them in the crate to show and then file them back on the shelf, a lot of work, but who ever said KZbin was easy? Compared to KZbin, quadradic equations with Chinese algebra is easy. (Joking aside, I can confidently say that theoretical physics is easy compared to KZbin, I studied it in college for a time. Having a really good professor helped, of course, but I digress). Thank you for the inspiration Melinda! Ah, The Bangles: I met the bass player, Michael Steel, back in their heyday and got an ultra rare hug from a Bangle! (It was arranged in surprise by a metal band I was part of on the "business side" more than musician side. The lead guitarist knew her and never told me. In my final show with them they surprised me with a personal meet with her, right in front of everyone too, geez! There were a lot of hi-jinx that night the band pulled on me. I was with them for about 3 years or more). I have got to increase my Bowie section! I only have three LPs (well, one is CD because the vinyl is unobtanium) in it! It is not easy though. You need more Bread Melinda. I have almost their entire discography. I do have that same Best Of LP, but there are hidden gems on their LPs, that are not on that one. Chicago (early Chicago)- one of my favorites, fairly recent favorite as of about 3 years ago. You need to get their debut LP and subsequent ones after that through the 70s. (After the 70s they became a different band, dull, boring corporate adult soft pop. In the 70s they were Psychedelic, prog-rock, hard rock, funk, jazz and everything in between. Do you have their "Live At Carnegie Hall" set? If not, you need to get it. Yes, I have a good amount of CCR as well. They were great! You need to get Heart's "Little Queen" LP. It is almost all acoustic and fantastic. I wish they would do a remaster/reissue of it. I have an original mono pressing of The Hollies Greatest Hits. (I do not recommend the stereo version, it is awful). You need more Jefferson Airplane Melinda. I have their discography as "Airplane", all original pressings, including Long John Silver in the form of the cigar box in very good condition (still flat and not put together and I am keeping it that way). I have tons of Gordon Lightfoot LPs, very enjoyable. I also have tons of Moody Blues, Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, Petula Clark, The Byrds, Yes, Neil Young (including with Crazy Horse), Jethro Tull, etc. I heard that Dolly Parton is now gone hard rock. I don't know, I have not heard any evidence on that and am having a hard time wrapping my head around that. I met Kevin Cronin decades ago by chance. Ran into him and his wife and kid in line for a ride at Disneyland. Weird huh? I have met a lot of artists that way, just unexpected places. I met and had a 35 minute visit with Grace Slick in a little art shop in Laguna Niguel, California. This was long post Airplane and Starship of course, but she was really nice to me. We even talked about music and Airplane a little, but mostly about paintings (I always let the celebrity lead conversation. It gains trust and one learns a lot). I was always told she was not nice and did not like to talk about such things. Well those people were wrong! Most celebrities I have met have been genuinely sweet, at least with me. There were really only two exceptions I can count, Loreena McKennitt and well, sort of Johnny Densmore, he was ok. I think he was still bitter about The Doors because he got huffy when I brought up The Doors in reference to how excellent a drummer I think he is). I met Robby Krieger by chance at a park before I met Johnny at the radio station I worked at (which was an arranged surprise for me). Robby was very nice. I'm just impressed that you like Rush so much. They are one of my top three of all time! I'm reading Geddy's book right now. Turns out, he is a good writer! It is hard to put it down. He is also extremely open about his life in it. Of course, it would not be a Geddy book, interview, fan meet, etc. without some signature self-defacement. Geddy and Alex always do that! Super humble! One doesn't play one's instrument at virtuoso level and invent time signatures now fairly recently officially published in the annals of musicology while being an idiot! I have an original pressing of that Steppenwolf LP with the foil/reflective cover. Of course, the cover is not in the best of shape, but what foil cover stays in good shape beyond a week? I'm looking for "Analog Man" by Joe Walsh myself. Can't find the vinyl version anywhere and I have been looking for three years now. I also have tons of compilation records, not K-Tel. I have maybe one or two K-tel comps, the rest are not seen that often. Some of them are pretty wild and fun too with rare alternate recordings, not heard on the official LP releases and such.

@@MelindaMurphy I have a few Rush records on vinyl, but my main collection are the 90s remasters on CD not to mention all the way up through their last few, including the original release of Vapor Trails that was poorly mixed and the free replacement via voucher from Rush. I have a lot of DVDs of Rush as well. I did not buy into all the subsequent special releases such as the Sector box sets, because the sound quality by most reports is poor compared to the 90's remasters and even the original vinyl. Yes, meeting a Bangle was ultra rare. Back then male fans could not get close enough to shake hands with a Bangle! It was not allowed. Obviously, my lead guitarist in the band I was working with (also how I cut my teeth in the industry) vouched for me. She was very personable. She came up to me, I wasn't introduce to her! (Obviously, my guitarist pointed me out and everything). I'm thrilled to meet music artists and others every time, I just don't get all crazy. To me they just have a different job then most and are true creators for us and that needs to be respected. I always let them lead conversation and you would be surprised how real it can get. Another similar situation was when I met bassist Patricia Morrison, late of Sisters Of Mercy and The Damned. It was another surprise setup by another band I worked very close with. The singer knew her and never told me. That was another arranged meeting that was totally private. I think my friend arranged it as a surprise for my birthday or something, if memory serves. Look Patricia up and you would not think she would be sweet by just looking at her, but she was super sweet! (She is also super tall and very pretty in person as well). We sat, the three of us and chatted for a good 30 minutes. My friend did a good job tricking me on that one. I had no clue until Patricia came up behind me and put her hands over my eyes and said "guess who". I thought it was one of my singer's friends I had met several times or something until I turned around and nearly fell backwards! There Patricia was in full dress like she is in pictures. I got three big hugs from her. Oh, I'm going to try it for sure. In fact, it would be a great first video(s) before delving into more detail about the artists and records I have, which is the core plan. Kind of a fast intro to what folks can expect.
