I have a little side contracting business, I do asphalt and concrete. A regional manager of a gas station chain called me and asked for a quote for new bollards and striping. I quoted $3,500 and she was happy, but told me if I could give her a break on the cost and only charge 2k, she'd make me her go-to contractor for all her other 15 locations. Long story short, made just over breakeven point, she loved the work saying I went "Above and beyond", and then GHOSTED ME! This was an older black woman, gassing me up with the aunty vibes saying she was proud to see a black man thriving..... I learned my lesson, just because people are in a position of power doesn't mean they won't scam you.
