I’m new to kayak fishing, so when you’re in a strong wind, what’s your advice? Get in position and cast until you’re out of position again than reset the position? Or just accept the wind taking you and cast away?
@OldLadyAngler5 жыл бұрын
Well if you're in a pedal drive, you can just maintain your position with constant adjustment. It's still gonna blow you around but not totally uncontrollably. With a paddle yak.... it's a frustrating fight if you don't have an anchor. I slight breeze is doable but a wind like I had would make you crazy.

Would you know what the water temperature is. Of course here in the Northeast they start the hit in the spring when the water temperature reaches 50 or 60 degrees. So what happens in Florida what temperature is 80 and goes down to 60s. I would think the fish would be more active unless the Florida fish act different
@OldLadyAngler5 жыл бұрын
Florida is quite the opposite. At least in Central FL where I live. When the water temp is cold.... they're usually lethargic. The water was around 68°... give or take a few degrees. We had a few nights in the low 50's and warm sunny days.... that's why I figured it'd be a good day for fishing. Partly cloudy... very windy... high of 80°. The bit did not turn on until lunchtime. That's typical of this fishery.... but I can usually catch a half dozen or so before lunchtime. Not today. I didn't get one bite until they turned on. But then all hell broke loose for several hours.
@outdoorguy8455 жыл бұрын
@@OldLadyAngler that would make sense, as the sun heats up the water, the fish become more active. I'm Coming down February 22nd. Probably no point in getting up early in the morning at Sunrise, better off just waiting get on the Water by 9 or 10am

@outdoorguy8455 жыл бұрын
@@OldLadyAngler it's funny you say that. Last April since my fishing partner never made it down with the boat, I was fishing at the boat ramp at Lake Kissimmee. On the opposite side of the lock. Not the Lake side. I caught a three a four and a five pounder. About 50 feet away from the boat ramp. All on a Chatterbait. And lost a big one because it went into the lily pads and being on shore I could not get it out.. the Bass are everywhere.
