The scenes of the Italian Counrtyside are so beautiful. They remind me of how beautiful the Irish Country scenes were in the film the Wind That Shakes the Barley. Provided an additional reason for watching both films. However no country scenes could be as beautiful as Liv Tyler, especially the way she looks in this film!!
@lh48649 жыл бұрын
Just watched this on Netflix and it was surprisingly good. All those men staring at and flirting with Lucy kinda creeped me out sometimes, especially since she was 19 in the movie and these guys were at least 30-50 (aside from the younger love interests) but besides that, it's a very aesthetically pleasing film. The scenery in Italy is stunning.
@KatalinaKristina9 жыл бұрын
+Leila A They made Italy look artistically depressing. And that's art. *Mild Spoiler Alert For Those Who Hasn't Seen It Yet:* Also, I think the men who were drawn to her just showed how some people can be purely innocent (like the legitimate sick old dude) and the dude she "ended up" with while some only can be unvirtuous (you know who I'm talking about lol)
@lh48649 жыл бұрын
+Maeiko Yeah, that's a good description about the men. You know what's weird though, **SPOILER** ... ... ... ... apparently the sick old dude was gay and he was dying from AIDS. I read that in a review and thought that was strange, because he seemed romantically interested in Lucy. Did you know he was gay?
@KatalinaKristina9 жыл бұрын
***** OH wow I didn't come across that from my digging of more info after watching the movie. I get that you know, that thing where you can't get enough after watching a movie. Like, it left a mark on your soul and you just need _more_... But seriously, I didn't know he was gay and he was dying of AIDS. They didn't make it clear in the movie. Unless they DID mention it and I just missed it....

@matteodonati19748 жыл бұрын
Wow, this takes me back! I remember going to see this with a friend in Italy when the movie first came out, yes I'm Italian, and we were around 19-20 years old at the time, similar age to Miss Tyler, which makes the memory of it feel even funnier...The really funny thing though, is that I'm from Tuscany, the region the film was filmed in, though it was made further inland from the area I'm from, because I'm from the coast below Livorno, and the movie was shot in the countryside surrounding Siena; and at the start of the movie, when she lands at Pisa, Galileo Galilei, International Airport; it was like, "wow I've been through there so many times, and now she's coming through there..." You know, classic teenage boy reaction to seeing Liv Tyler arrive in your homeland! Anyway I liked the movie, but of course, the main reason for watching it, was that Liv Tyler was in it!

I remember the first time I saw this film in summer 1997. I was 16. I just watched it online and have seen it numerous times since. I love how she doesn't loose her virginity to Nicolo. I could tell, just like the first time I saw it, how her mothers ghost descends on her when she is about to make love to him, to let her know he is not the one for her. He looks evil and wolflike. Doesn't mean he is evil, he just looks that way. I have seen far more evil characters, on both sides of the screen!!

It's called the 90s & y2k, when everyone wanted to watch movies like this- erotica romance etc.. if this was a movie about the life of a dog 🐕 you surely wouldn't have seen "perverted moments" and the audience wouldn't have gone to watch it because it wasn't their genre. 50 shades of grey? That's ok? Because it's modern? Now throw nothing about sex and control in the trailer and it would've been a movie about a rich man being a dick to a nice girl. GENRES ALL KINDS.
